Ronald Ahlstrom

Ronald G. Ahlstrom, of Lombard, Ill., passed away at the age of 90 on March 13, 2012.
Services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Mr. Ahlstrom is survived by his loving son, Arn. He was preceded in death by loving wife, Nancy (nee Costa), of 58 years.
Mr. Ahlstrom proudly served as a sergeant in World War II both stateside and in the Philippines. After the war he attended and graduated from The Art Institute of Chicago. His life was dedicated to art and he became a prominent abstract expressionist collage maker. His work was exhibited in countless exhibitions throughout the country. He also worked as the curator of the Tacoma Art Museum in Tacoma Washington during the early 1960s.
Mr. Ahlstrom was the recipient of many art awards and prizes throughout his long career. His works are part of numerous private, corporate and museum collections. His work was published in many national and international art publications including “Who’s Who in America” and “Who’s Who in American Art.” He was a proud and respected member of the DuPage Arts Coalition where he provided input, mentored young artists and taught classes well into his 80s.
In addition to making art he taught art at both high school and college levels. His other passions included history, literature and music. He was an accomplished bass fiddle and guitar player and enjoyed playing in clubs during the late 1940s and 1950s.

Dorothy Alexander

Dorothy J. Alexander, nee Kolinski, 77, of Lombard, died Friday, March 16, at Lexington Health Care in Lombard.
Visitation will be today, March 21, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 22, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is private at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by her fiancé, Helmut Winkler of Lombard; children, John C. (Debbie), David B. (Katie), Neal E. (Charon ) and Virginia S. (Daniel) Oelslager; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Rita A. (D. Dwain) Heinselman and Mary Clare Kolinski; sister-in-law, Randi Kolinski; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Kristen K; brothers, Robert A. (the late Rosanne) Kolinski and Michael S. Kolinski; and parents, Stanley C. and Zena V.
Mrs. Alexander was very devoted to her family and friends. She was a very active member of the Lombard Garden Club and was a member of the Morton Arboretum and the Horticulture Club.

Jeanette DeVries

Jeanette A. DeVries, 87, of Lombard, died Monday, March 12, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 16, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
Ms. DeVries is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Bernice (the late Lawrence) Giannini, Matilda (Louis) Larson and Earl (Lola).
Ms. DeVries was born in Chicago and was a longtime resident of Lombard. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a member of various veteran groups.

Rosalie Hintz

Rosalie “Rose” Hintz, nee Bukala, 81, of Lombard, died Monday, March 12, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 14, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. George Zieba of St. Pius X Church officiating. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
Mrs. Hintz is survived by her husband, Edward; children, Corey, Nancy (John) Mellenthin and Richard (Carrie); four grandchildren; and sister, Florence Komendant. She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter (the late Shirley) Bukala.
Mrs. Hintz was a homemaker.

Elizabeth Jakoubek

Elizabeth “Betty” Jakoubek, nee Henaughan, 83, died Friday, Feb. 10, at Lexington Health Care in Lombard.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 25, at 1 p.m., at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 350 E. Madison, Lombard.
Mrs. Jakoubek is survived by her children, Phyllis (Eugene) Mertz and Susan (John) Schlitt; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Bud Henaughan, Jim (Wilma) Henaughan and Mary Lou Busse; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George “Jake” Jakoubek.
Mrs. Jakoubek grew up in Villa Park and graduated from York High School in 1946. She married Jake, a boy from the neighborhood, when he returned from the U.S. Navy. They moved to Lombard in 1950, where they raised their family. She loved to garden and enjoyed camping and fishing with Jake. They loved playing games, especially cards at family get-togethers, which has continued as a family tradition.

Melvin Kuhlman

Melvin E. Kuhlman, 96, of Chicago, died Tuesday, March 13, at Alden Valley Ridge in Bloomingdale.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 17, with a Masonic service under the auspices of Lombard Lodge #1098 AF & AM and Paul Revere Lodge #998 AF & AM. Interment was at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park.
Mr. Kuhlman is survived by his dear friends, Bill (Alice Miller) Costello of Lombard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis W. Kuhlman and Harriett; and sister, Ruth C.K. Augsburger.
Mr. Kuhlman was a graduate of Carl Shurz High School in Chicago. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite Loyal Chapter #223. He was a member of the Paul Revere Lodge #998 AF & AM and Lombard Lodge #1098 AF & AM, and was past master of the Paul Revere Lodge.

Elfriede Lohrentz

Funeral services for Elfriede E. Lohrentz, nee Heyder, of Villa Park, were held Monday, March 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Lohrentz is survived by her children, Susan (Terry) Webster and Barbara (Jeffrey) Siegman; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick.

Mary Agnes Madden

Mary Agnes Madden, 91, of Lombard, died Tuesday, March 13, at Oregon Nursing Home in Oregon, Ill.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 19, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Madden is survived by her children, Terrence (Georgia) and Mary Agnes; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Madden was a resident of Lombard since 1954. She was a “stay- at-home” mom and was active with the CCW at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mary Moneer

Mary Therese Moneer, nee Kottra, R.N., of Aurora, died Saturday, March 10, in Aurora.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 17, at Queen of All Saints Basilica in Chicago. Interment was at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
Mrs. Moneer is survived by her children, Nicole and James; siblings, John J. (Gail) Kottra, M.D., Joseph (Linda) Dinges and Judy Waitz (William Spangle); two nephews and a niece; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Yusuf “Joseph” Moneer; his parents, Julius and Rose Kottra; and brother, Daniel Kottra.

Mildred Orsi

Mildred I. Orsi, nee Kapolczynski, 71, of Lombard, died Tuesday, March 13, at Elmhurst Extended Care in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 16, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Orsi is survived by her sons, Steven, David and Scott of Lombard; brother, Marty (Judith) Kapolczynski of Lombard; four nephews and a niece; and was the sister-in-law of Norma Orsi and Al (Katy). She was preceded in death by her husband, Gildo “Gil.”
Mrs. Orsi was a resident of Lombard since 1965. She was a homemaker, gardener, loved craft shows, traveling and dogs, and loved the people of the exercise class at the Lombard Park District. She was an active member of St. Pius X Church.

Barbara Pearson

Barbara R. Pearson 75, of Villa Park, died Friday, March 16.

Mrs. Pearson is survived by her husband, Ernest; children, Kathy (Frank) Olesiak, Debbie (Mark) Thornton, Bob (Paulette) Mayerhofer, Barb (Frank) Valvo, Judy (Dan) Pearson and Carol (John) Houlihan; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Anne Steger

Anne M. Steger, nee Erl, 95, died Saturday, March 17.

Mrs. Steger is survived by her children, Anne (Jim) Schweik, Joan (Vern) Rosene, Gary (Heather), William (Linda), Susan (Robert) Polay, Kenneth (Donna), Robert (Suzanne) and Joseph (Teresa); 27 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen (the late Bruno) Holmgren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A.; and siblings, Frank (Dorothy) Erl, Walter (Adeline) Erl and Lucille (Benjamin) Rubikauskas.
Mrs. Steger was born in Medford, Wis., and was formerly of Maywood, Addison and Westmont.
