Daniel Cerone

Daniel Cerone, 79, of Lombard, died Friday, April 27, in Elmhurst.
Funeral services are being held today, May 2, with prayers from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with the Rev. George Zieba officiating. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Cerone is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Michael A. (Debbie), Daniel R. (Eilene), Lori A. (Jack) Bigus and Nicholas P. (Julie); 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Marie (the late Joe) Aloisio and Gert (the late Frank) Fiarito; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, John (the late Nell) Cerone.
Mr. Cerone had been a truck driver for Centrella Foods.

Jenny Colagrossi

Jenny M. Colagrossi, nee Aloia, 87, of Villa Park, died Sunday, April 29, in Villa Park.
A committal service was held Tuesday, May 1, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Chapel in Hillside. Interment is at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Colagrossi is survived by her children, Antoinette Dodd, Barbara (Angelo) Denofrio and Michael (Sandra) of Villa Park; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Julia Orlando; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J.; and daughter, Patricia.

Raymond Koss

Raymond F. Koss, 89, of Villa Park, died Saturday, April 28, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 6, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, May 7, at Carmelite Carefree Village in Darien. Interment is at St. Casimir Cemetery in Chicago.
Mr. Koss is survived by his children, James (Kathyrn) and Mary (John) Houston; and granddaughter, Katherine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian.
Mr. Koss was a graduate of the University of Chicago.

Joan Nosal-Damitz

Joan R. Nosal-Damitz, nee Bogart, 74, of Villa Park, died Wednesday, April 25.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 30, at St. Alexander Church Gathering Space in Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Nosal-Damitz is survived by her husband, Michael Damitz; children, Joseph (Megan) and Debi (Eric) Pufahl; one grandchild; sister, Marie (Joseph) Moscatello; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Nosal; and parents, Gustave and Frances Bogart.

Nelva Peiler

Funeral services for Nelva Nina Peiler, 94, of Elmhurst, were held Friday, April 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Elm Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Peiler is survived by her children, Beverly (David) Ackerman and William; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Jackie Elbreck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; and daughter, Sandra Becker.

Paul Schrilla Sr.

Paul Schrilla Sr., 85, of Bloomingdale, formerly of Maywood, died Sunday, April 29, in Bloomingdale.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 3, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 4, at the funeral home. Interment is at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mr. Schrilla is survived by his children, Robert (Wanda), Joneen (Thomas) Kwasniewski, Paul Jr. (Jean), Dawn (Robert) Jackson, Tom (Debra), Glorianne Ruth, Mary (Robert) Prainito and Eva; son-in-law, Ron Albertson; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” (Richard) Decker and Dorothy (Fred) Lofgren; sister-in-law, Ruth; cousin, Gene Prell; brothers-in-law, Wilbur K. (Margaret) Pflug and Elmer F. “Bud” Pflug Jr.; cousin, Jack Brust; numerous godchildren; and many more cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews of the Lofgren, Brandt, Decker, Rankin, Pflug, Brust, Prell and Schrilla families. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Ruth; daughter, Linda Albertson; parents, Angelo and Helen; siblings, Robert “Sonny” and Theresa “Dolly” Rankin; and sister-in-law, Marion Pflug.
Mr. Schrilla was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II in the Pacific. He was in the office supply business for over 50 years, retiring in 2006. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion and gave many years of service to the Kiwanis and VFW.

Virginia Tabor

Virginia M. Tabor, nee Bronski. 91, of Lombard, died Sunday, April 29, in Lombard.
Visitation will be today, May 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 3, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Villa Park. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Tabor is survived by her daughter, Elaine of Lombard; daughter-in-law, Beth Tabor; one granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John J.; sons, John F. and Dan; and siblings, Helen, Stanley, Walter, John and Frank.
Mrs. Tabor was a resident of Lombard since 1954. She had been a homemaker and sales clerk at the Big “R,” loved to crochet and make afghans, was a painter of ceramics, a gardener and enjoyed canning.

Elaine Waas

Elaine Johanna Waas, nee Drescher 85, of Lombard, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, April 29 in Lombard, after a battle with bladder cancer.
Funeral services are being held today, May 2, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Waas is survived by her sons, Michael (Jan), Paul, Peter (Laura) and Chris (Mary Lu); 13 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, in 1978; parents; and a brother and sister.
Mr. and Mrs. Waas moved to Lombard 60 years ago when all the streets were unpaved and fields stretched all the way to Main Street. The home they purchased was unfinished and as neighbors moved into the area, they would enjoy campfires and games of badminton in the back yard. She was active as a volunteer at the annual Christ the King rummage sale, and enjoyed traveling the country with her niece, Mary Ann.

Regina A. Wisniewski, nee Horodko, 91, of Villa Park, formerly of Westchester, died Saturday, April 28.
