Evelyn Berg

Evelyn O. Berg, nee Olson, 98, of Lombard, died Thursday, Sept. 13, at Lexington Health Care in Lombard.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Lexington Square in Lombard.
Mrs. Berg is survived by her children, Fred (Carol Richard), Christine Robinson of Lombard and Carol (Merritt) Cook of Lombard; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; granddaughter-in-law, Kathy Robinson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Steven Robinson; and husband, Rolf H.

John Bickford

John Franklin Bickford, 95, of Villa Park, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 14, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 24, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 350 S. Princeton, Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the funeral home. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Bickford is survived by his children, Edwin and Faylene Quinn; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oma; and son, Johnnye.
Mr. Bickford was a resident of Lombard for 69 years and was the owner of Wee Hour Printing.

Marilyn Bush

Marilyn Bush, nee Pratz, 77, of Lombard, died Sunday, Sept. 16, in Lombard.
Visitation is being held today, Sept. 19, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Funeral services are being held Thursday, Sept. 20, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Stewart Pattison officiating. Interment is at Wheaton Cemetery.
Mrs. Bush is survived by her children, Susan (Thomas) Broderick and Matthew (Susan Covill); three grandchildren; sister, Carol (Michael) Grimes; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; and sister-in-law, Joan (the late Willard) Halsted.
Mrs. Bush had been a preschool teacher.

Joanna Iwinski

Joanna Rose Iwinski, nee LaRocca, 62, of Lombard, died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 9, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
A memorial gathering was held Thursday, Sept. 13, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mrs. Iwinski is survived by her husband, Paul; son, Zachary; sister, Janice (Robert) Hoch; sisters-in-law, Jean (Ken) Snead and Nancy (Jim) Krawczykowski; brother-in-law, Brian (Michelle) Iwinski; nine nieces and nephews; and many beloved cousins, aunts and uncles in the Niagra Falls/Buffalo, N.Y., area.
Mrs. Iwinski was born to Julia and Frank LaRocca in Niagra Falls, N.Y. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be missed for her insight, wit and loving ways.

Geraldine Smith

Geraldine E. Smith, 88, of Lombard, died Friday, Sept. 14, in Lombard.
A memorial gathering will be held graveside on Sunday, Sept. 23, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Charles D. (Daniel Sullivan) of Lombard, Alyce M. (Mark) Croger, Jeanne M., Helen M. (Richard) Webster of Villa Park, Sheila M. (Jim) Goff, Paul J. (Kim Weirhle), John C. (Linda Troyke) and Adam M. (Debbie Phalen); 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles.
Mrs. Smith moved to Lombard in 1953 with her husband. She was a homemaker and took great interest in her children and grandchildren. She was a founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where she sang in the church choir and was a CCD teacher. She was a Cub Scout den mother, liked to knit and crochet and also loved bingo.

Margaret Thompson

Margaret Nora Thompson, 85, of Villa Park, died Monday, Sept. 10, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
A memorial gathering was held Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her children, Richard (Karen) Anderson, Steve (Kathy) Anderson, Dave Thompson of Villa Park and Cathy Flynn; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Walter, James and Marvin Kleinedler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Mary Kleinedler; and siblings, Fredrick, Bernard and Irv Kleinedler, and sister, Mary Shoemacher.
Mrs. Thompson was born in 1927 in her Lombard home. She worked in a munitions plant supporting World War II, the Ovaltine Corp. in Villa Park and was also self-employed. She lived her entire life in the Lombard/Villa Park area, loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was loved very much by many.
