LaVeda Davies

LaVeda Davies, 76, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Lombard, died Thursday, Aug. 30, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral services being held today, Sept. 5, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is private.
Mrs. Davies is survived by her children, Ketra (Bob) Pauley, Cathy Curtis, Chris (Grant) McGrenera and Tom (Alina); siblings, Duane (Rita) Finch, Gordon (Dorothy) Finch, Bonnie (Richard) Meismer, Carol (Barney) Beoletto, Eldon (Andrea) Finch, Diane (Mike) Cawley, Brenda Knight and Denise (Mike) Held; and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, David M.; and parents, John and Marcella Finch.
Mrs. Davies was born in Washburn, Ill., and grew up in the Midwestern town of Low Point, where she graduated from Low Point Washburn High School. She had worked as an OR technician at St. Francis Hospital before getting married, and later moved to Chicago and Lombard. She worked in Glen Ellyn at the Glen Ellyn Clinic in the registration department. After living in Lombard for 25 years, she moved to Nokomis, Fla.
She was a world traveler, avid doll collector, unabashed sports fanatic, was passionate about the joys of life, and found the beauty of life in her family, loved ones and friends.

Jeanne Franzen

Jeanne Franzen died peacefully after a long illness.
An avid reader and animal lover, Jeanne leaves her two daughters Greta (Dan) McGladdery, and Aldona (Steve) Skonie. Warning her sometimes free spirited daughters that she hoped they had children who would clone their behavior, Jeanne has no grandchildren. She also leaves her adopted son Kevin Morgan and adopted daughter Marie Rosen. She will be missed by her best friend Marlene Endler and her beloved cat Daisy. She leaves many nieces and nephews and a host of friends behind. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Jack (Glenda) Lunney, and sister Renee Frazier.
Born in Chicago to parents Frank and Renee McCarthy, Jeanne raised two daughters alone while working two jobs and completing her bachelor's degree in English where she was valedictorian at Roosevelt University. Jeanne never had a lot of money, but she always had at least one extra kid at the dinner table.

Florence Iversen

Florence Iversen, nee Thompson, 89, of Lombard, died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 30, at Lexington Health Center in Lombard.
Funeral services are being held today, Sept. 5, at First United Methodist Church in Lombard. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Iversen is survived by her son, James Jr. (Karen); three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She ws preceded in death by her husband, James Sr.; daughter, Joyce; son, Jeffery; and grandson, Kristopher.
"Flo" was a resident of Lombard for over 60 years. She was an active and passionate member of the First United Methodist Church in Lombard, and had worked as the parish visitor at church for many years.
She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, was an avid reader, liked to play bridge, loved to cook and bake, and became known for her dinner parties where good food and the warmth of friendship were always enjoyed by everyone. She will be missed by her family and dear friends.

Edwin Lejeck

Edwin B. Lejeck, 95, of Bensenville, formerly of Forest Park, died Monday, Aug. 27, at Bridgeway Christian Village in Bensenville.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Concordia Cemetery in Forest Park.
Mr. Lejeck is survived by his children, John B. (Alice) of Lombard and Jane Zimeroff; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara.
Mr. Lejeck was born in Chicago and had retired from Western Electric in 1972, and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a former member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Forest Park for many years.

Marilyn Patton

Marilyn Ruth Patton, nee Frick, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 31, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
Mrs. Patton is survived by her husband, Martin, whom she married in 1952; children, James (Claudia), Donna (David) Stubben and Robert (Sharon Bird); and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Mary; and brother, Robert Frick.
Mrs. Patton was the daughter of Ruth and Walter Frick, and grew up in Cicero, where she excelled as a student at Morton High School. She spent 60 years as a happily devoted wife, mother and grandmother who immersed herself in books, gave generously to charitable causes benefitting children and spoiled the many pets she welcomed into her home and heart.
As a talented and tireless seamstress, she covered family, friends and acquaintances with her meticulously hand-pieced quilts. All those who knew her were touched by her humor and kindness.

Maurice Vandenbroucke

Maurice J. "Maury" Vandenbroucke, 89, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 1, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Vandenbroucke is survived by his children, Ken (Suzette), David (Fran), Gary (Laura), Margie (Daniel) Poole, Bonnie of Lombard, Debra and Judy; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Toni; and four brothers and sisters.
Mr. Vandenbroucke was a resident of Lombard since 1966. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Pacific in three campaigns in the Philippines. He received his CPA in 1950 and started Comprehensive Accounting Co. in 1969 in Lombard, and retired in 1989. The company is still run by his family on St. Charles Road.
He joined the Lombard Rotary in 1975 and served as treasurer for nine years. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation, a former member of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce and was one of the founders of Downtown Lombard Unlimited (DLU).

Richard Watson

Funeral services for Richard L. "Dick" Watson, 73, of Plainfield, formerly of Bridgeport, were held Sunday, Sept. 2, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Petty Cemetery in Lawrenceville, Ill.
Mr. Watson is survived by his children, Catherine (Jeff) Niewinski, Laura and Kent (Christi); nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, James (Georgeanne); and was an uncle to many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley "Sue".
Mr. Watson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Paul Willuweit

Paul R. Willuweit, 63, passed away Aug. 16, 2012.
A memorial visitation will be held at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst, from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012.
He was the beloved husband of Frances; dearest father of Paula and Joseph; and dear brother of Steven (Alice) and David (Karen).
