Ralph C. Barto

Ralph C. Barto Jr., 84, of Villa Park, died Thursday, Aug. 15, in Villa Park.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at St. Alexander Church, 300 S. Cornell, Villa Park. Interment is private.
Mr. Barto was the husband of Patricia; brother of June (the late Harold) Menzel; brother-in-law of Larry (the late Beverly) Jordan, Marilyn (Bob) Marx, Bill (Cheryl) Jordan and Thomas Jordan; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas (Eileen) Barto.
Mr. Barto was a World War II and Korean Army veteran.

Marie G. Butera

Funeral services for Marie G. Butera, nee Sciortino, 80, of Lombard, were held Saturday, Aug. 24, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Entombment is private.
Mrs. Butera was the beloved friend and companion of John Spinelli; mother of Richard (Lucia), Thomas (R. Lynn) and Denise (Anna Stefaniak) Butera; grandmother of seven; and aunt of several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace (Nick) Briglio.
Mrs. Butera was employed for over 20 years as a travel agent with Tree Town Travel, Villa Park Trust and Savings Bank. She was an avid world traveler and loyal Cubs and Blackhawks fan.

John Joseph Dempsey

Visitation and funeral services for John Joseph Dempsey, 91, of Villa Park, will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment is at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Chicago.
Mr. Dempsey was the husband of Teresa; father of Patricia Dempsey, John M. (Eileen), Mary Ellen Dempsey and Dolores Dempsey; and uncle and cousin to many.
Mr. Dempsey was a World War II Army veteran and German P.O.W., and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Mary L. Glas

Mary L. Glas, 64, nee Ciavarella, died peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, after a 10-month battle with cancer, at her home in Lombard.
She was the beloved wife of 36 years to Frank: loving mother of Alex: fond sister of Ken Ciavarella: sister-in-law of Doris Desplenter: dear aunt of Amy, nee Ciavarella, (Rob) and Noah Sessner; Adam (Andrea), Beth and Diana Ciavarella; and Jason (Lynn) and Alli Ciavarella: and dear cousin to many wonderful family members.
Visitation is Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, from 10-11 a.m. at Annunciation BVM Church, 1840 Church Road, Aurora, Ill., with a funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m.

June F. Milcezny

June F. Milcezny, 91, of Lombard, died Monday, Aug. 19, at Elmhurst Extended Care, Elmhurst, Illinois.
Memorial services are pending at a later date at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S.Main St., Lombard. Interment is private at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.
Mrs. Milcezny is survived by her son, James (Patricia) of Villa Park; two granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L.; and brother, Robert Wettour.
Mrs. Milcezny was a resident of Lombard since 1956. She was a graduate of Farragut High School in Chicago. She had retired from Providence Washington Insurance Company in 1984.

Grace M. Nowak

Grace M. Nowak, 84, of Lombard, died Monday, Aug. 26, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove.
Visitation and funeral services will be today, Aug, 28, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment will be at St. Boniface Cemetery, Chicago.
Mrs. Nowak is survived by her children, Charles Jr., Carl (Suzanne), Jane (Michael) Newman, Diane (Susan), Joyce (Kevin) Nowak and Indira (Gary) Brigham; eight grandchildren; and brother, Richard (Sandy) King. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles.
Mrs. Nowak was formerly of Crown Point, Ind., and Oak Lawn.  She loved to play Scrabble with her club and was a member of the Beacon Hill Book Club.

Marie M. Olson

Marie M. Olson, 96, of Lombard, formerly of North Branch, Iowa, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013.
A visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Olson is survived by her daughter, Carol Altvatter; her grandchildren, Tammy (Jon) March and Tanya Romas (Paul Vetter); her great-grandchildren, Bekka Rood and Olivia Romas; and daughter-in-law, Jane Schuler. She was preceded in death by her son, Francis “Bud”; and granddaughter, Kaylin Rood.

Ellen P. Perkins

Ellen P. Perkins, nee Prull, 82, of The Meadows in Glen Ellyn, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug, 23, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by her husband of 30 years, Lincoln; children, Bonnie L. Santi, William L. (Barbara) Shultz and Ricky R. (Debra) Shultz of Lombard; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and stepson, Charles L. Perkins.
Mrs. Perkins attended Luther Institute, the first Lutheran High School in Chicago. She was a volunteer at Central DuPage Hospital for many years; was co-founder of A to Z Auto Repair Inc., Villa Park, with her first husband, William Edward Shultz, in 1958; worked for Morton Arboretum for 20 years in the gift shop; managed Honey Bear Farms in Carson Pirie Scott & Co., Yorktown; and was a volunteer and managed a restaurant in O’Hare Airport for several years. She was also an Easter Seals volunteer.
Mrs. Perkins’ primary interest was her family. She had a passion for world travel, visiting Africa, South America and Europe; and always encouraged people to live life, saying to all, “Do It While You Can.”

Lorraine McGrath Piety

Lorraine Alice McGrath Piety, age 86, a 60-year resident of Lombard, died June 16, 2013, in the early morning hours at Brighton Gardens Assisted Care facility in Boca Raton, Fla., where she had resided for the past three years. 
Lorraine was born Aug. 30, 1926, in Omaha, Neb., to the late Daniel McGrath and Alice May Keyes McGrath. Lorraine Piety was a loving, devoted and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all. She was kind-hearted and gentle-spirited. Lorraine had an undeniably positive impact on her children and grandchildren and their passion for education in their life.  Lorraine constantly gave to others without being asked for anything in return. She is and will always be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Thomas (Jody) of Wheaton, Ill., Mary Alice (Richard) Boucher of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Lori Piety Deckert of Lombard, Ill., and Lisa (James) Hartmann of Sister Bay, Wis. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 55 years, Jim, who adored her and always felt very fortunate to have her; her older brother, Daniel, who died as a child; and an infant granddaughter, Abigail Faith Hartmann. 
A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held on her birthday, Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Morton Arboretum, at the Thornhill Education Center's Founders Room, 4100 Illinois Route 53, Lisle, IL 60532. Guests should notify security at the admissions window they are there for the Piety Memorial and they will be excused the admission fees.  Immediately following the service a luncheon will be held at College Church in Wheaton, Ill. All are welcome to attend. The address of the church is 332 East Seminary St., in the church commons building.  Directions to College Church will be handed out at the memorial service.
