Brian K. Ball

Brian K. Ball, 42, of Lombard, died suddenly Thursday, Dec. 12, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst.
Visitation and funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 15 at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Ball is survived by his daughters, Angelynia Deeds of Lombard and Lisa Ball of Lombard; brother, Don (Lynn) of Villa Park; grandmother, Ida T. Sheldon; and aunt, Kathryn Sheldon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemarie Ball; and grandfather, Donald Sheldon.
Mr. Ball grew up in Lombard and was a 1989 graduate of Glenbard East High School. He had attended Lincoln Grade School and Lombard Junior High School. Mr. Ball was an avid Bears fan, was a wrestling enthusiast, loved nature and animals, liked children and loved his daughters.

Theodore R. Banaszewski Jr.

Theodore R. Banaszewski Jr., 86, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Lombard.
Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 12 at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hillside.
Mr. Banaszewski is survived by his wife, Norma; children, Joanne Banaszewski, Robert (Ann), Edward (Lori) and Linda (Paul) Fisher; 10 grandchildren; and brothers, Ken (Dawna) Opal and Donald (Marcia) Opal.
Mr. Banaszewski was a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II.

Dorothy Mae Buckley

Dorothy Mae Buckley, 93, of California, formerly of Lombard, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, in California.
Interment was held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park.
Mrs. Buckley is survived by her children, Phyllis (Mike) Cirella, Joanne Rizvi, Marilyn Buckley and Scott Buckley; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Buckley, whom she married in 1952; and her parents, Phillip and Ella Bock.
Mrs. Buckley was an only child and was born in Chicago. At the age of 3 she moved to Oconomowoc, Wis., and when she was 13, moved back to Chicago, where she attended Carl Schurz High School. She was a 1942 graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Buckley taught high school for one year at Altoona High School in Wisconsin and then worked for the war department during World War II.  She and her husband met on a bike trip to Monticello, Ind., after the war.  They were both members of the bike club. The couple purchased a brand new home in Lombard on Martha Street, then moved to a larger home in Lombard on Edgewood Avenue and later on St. Charles Place near the Lombard Common.
Mrs. Buckley was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lombard from 1952-95.  She had lived in Key Largo, Fla., from 1995-2011; taught Sunday school for 19 years; was also a Campfire Girl leader; and loved Phantom Lake Camp in Mukwonago, Wis., where she and all of her children attended.

Jane Delaney

Visitation for Jane Delaney, nee Haupt, 83, will be held Thursday, Dec. 19, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 20, from the funeral home to St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Delaney is survived by her children, Doug (Marge) of Lombard, Paul (Karen), Noreen (Greg) Zaideman and MaryEllen (Tim) Mieure; brother, William (Jan) Haupt; brother-in-law, Bill (Jane) Delaney; seven grandchildren, a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Jr.; and brother-in-law, Lawrence (Marcia) Delaney. 
Mrs. Delaney was a retired registered nurse who worked at Marianjoy Rehab Hospital for many years, and was a longtime member of St. Pius X Church in Lombard. She served in several ministries as well as working as a substitute teacher at the school. For many years, up until her death, she enjoyed giving piano lessons to many local students.

Mary Louise Johnson

Mary Louise Johnson, nee Shire, 92, a longtime resident of Elmhurst, died Monday, Dec. 9.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 14, at Elmhurst Presbyterian Church, 367 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst. Interment was at Mt. Emblem, Elmhurst. 
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her children, Sheryl Welsch, Judy (Brad) Pauling, Marsha (Tim) Raffen and Warren C. “Kip” Jr. (Pattie) of Villa Park; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren C. Johnson Sr.; and sister, Ruth Beach.
Mrs. Johnson had lived in Elmhurst since 1956. She was very active at Elmhurst Presbyterian Church and was a deacon there. She worked at Craft Patterns in Elmhurst.  She was very family minded.

George Kovar Jr.

George Kovar Jr., 84, of Lombard, died Thursday, Dec. 12 at Brighton Gardens, St. Charles.
Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 20, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn.
Mr. Kovar is survived by his children, Victor (Marcia), Matthew (Karina) and Ellen (Rick) Fielding; daughter-in-law, Caroline; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Pat Fagerlie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; and son, Richard.
Mr. Kovar was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Jeanne C. Kronemann

Funeral services for Jeanne C. Kronemann, nee Klemann, 83, of Villa Park, were held Monday, Dec. 16, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Kronemann was the mother of Cheryl (Larry) Malloy and Terry Kronemann; grandmother of two; and great-grandmother of two. She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldemar.

Carl Lazarski

Funeral services for Carl Lazarski, 57, a longtime resident of Lombard, were held Sunday, Dec. 15, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Mr. Lazarski was the son of Geraldine (the late Ronald) Weech and the late Raymond Lazarski; brother of Donna (Richard), Neil (Kathy), Mark (Debbie), Eric (Tammy) and Scot; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. 
Mr. Lazarski proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and belonged to many local community and church groups. He truly enjoyed the time he spent going on various retreats to help heal and inspire those around him who shared similar frailties. Carl dearly loved his nieces and nephews and always enjoyed just popping in to have a quick talk and a good cup of coffee.  The community lost a kind soul on Dec. 5.

Joseph P. Mogavero

Mr. Mogavero was the husband of Kay; father of Kathy (the late Anthony) Deluca, Tina Mogavero, Anita (Mike) Kress, Joseph P. Jr., Lori (John) Hilliard, Mary (Rick) Schulze, Roseanne (Joseph) Taylor, Marilyn (Ritz) Ziupsnys and Thomas (Rona); grandfather of 26; great-grandfather of 16; and uncle to many. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald (Linda) and Andrew.

Florence Vrtis

Visitation for Florence Vrtis, nee Shaw, 90, of Lombard, will be held today, Dec. 18, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. She died Saturday, Dec. 14.

Mrs. Vrtis was the mother of Rick and Carol Vrtis; and grandmother of two. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bohumil “Bob”; and one sister and two brothers.
