Sandra Lee Andrews

Sandra Lee Andrews, nee Barker, 67, died Monday, Feb. 4, in St. Cloud, Minn.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Andrews is survived by her children, Trisha Ball and Mark (Amy).
Mrs. Andrews was a loyal employee of Testing Service Corp. in Carol Stream for over 25 years.

Maureen Becker

Funeral services for Maureen Lucille Becker, nee Malone, were held Thursday, Feb. 7, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Becker is survived by her husband, Keith; children, Barbara (the late Frank) Mientus, Angela (Rodney) Fox, Jennifer Unger and Bridget (Scott) Welninski; seven grandchildren; siblings, Michael (Alice), Margaret (Doug) Soccio, Janet McGinnis, Rita (Bob) Fischer and Thomas (Debi); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Molly Malone; and siblings, Kathleen and John Malone.
Mrs. Becker was a past member of the District 45 School Board and was the former owner of the Ardmore Lounge.

The Rev. Robert Hatfield

The Rev. Robert E. “Rob” Hatfield, 60, formerly of Alton, Ill., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 9, at First Church of Lombard. Interment was private.
Rev. Hatfield is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Katelyn of Lombard and Michael (Teri); one granddaughter; father, Robert E. Sr.; sisters, Gwen (Tom) Riney and Susie (Dave) Bennett; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene.
Rev. Hatfield was a graduate of Eden Seminary in Webster Grove, Mo., and was the pastor of First Church of Lombard UCC for 24 years. He had served on the board of directors for Good Samaritan Hospital, Teen Parent Connection, Community Renewal Society of Chicago and Elmhurst College. He had tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals’ baseball farm team and made the team before going into the seminary. He loved his family, friends and the St. Louis Cardinals.

George McCoy

George Altha McCoy 79, a Korean War veteran, died unexpectedly on Feb. 5 at Hines VA Hospital.
He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a master’s degree in education, specializing in behavior modification for upper elementary school children. During his career, as special school counselor for Chicago public schools, he served terms as president of the Illinois Association for Counseling and Development, 1990, president of the Illinois School Counselor Association, 1992 and president of the Lombard Lions Club, 1978 and 2001.
Additionally he served several years as a director on the Northern University School of Education Alumni Board until 2006 when he fell at home which resulted in quadra paralysis. In the 1970s he coached Lombard Little League Football for 12 years. After retiring from the Chicago Public School System in 1999, he completed the University of Illinois course in advanced gardening, receiving a certificate as “Master Gardener,” where he also served as a volunteer in their outreach program for gardeners.
He is survived by his wife Jeanie of 46 years; two sons from a previous marriage, Kevin Blake McCoy (Selena); his grandchildren, Kavone and Marcia Purnell (Robert); great-grandchild, Kamari; son, Kristopher Andrew McCoy; and grandchild, Kristopher Andrew McCoy II.
The date of memorial services at First Church of Lombard and at the Lincoln National Military Cemetery is to be announced.

Elizabeth Anne Putong

Elizabeth Anne Putong, nee Sweetman, 82, of Bolingbrook, formerly of Lombard, died Sunday, Feb.10, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Bolingbrook. 
Visitation and funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 15, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment will be private at St. James R.C. Cemetery in Connecticut.
 Mrs. Putong is survived by her children, James (Chris) and Felicia; five grandchildren; brother, James (Maria) Sweetman Jr.; a nephew and niece; and daughter-in-law, Dorrie of Lombard. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul.
Mrs. Putong grew up in Nantucket, Conn., and worked there at St. Mary’s Hospital as a registered nurse. She lived in Lombard from 1961-87, and then resided at the nursing home in Bolingbrook for 16 years.

Fred Rabe Sr.

Fred C. Rabe Sr. died surrounded by loving family members, Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, after a short illness.
Fred was a lifetime resident of Villa Park and was well-known in the Western suburbs as a longtime owner of Rabe Landscaping. He was also retired from his position as millwright at American Can Company in Maywood.
Fred’s caring nature, selflessness and his ability to see only the good in people will be sorely missed by all who were touched by him.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lucille; his children, Linda Watson, Susan (Dwight) Schlottman, Fred (Osville) Rabe-Pickett, Carol (Toby) Klepek and Jill (Jon) Anderson; eight grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Fred was an avid animal lover. Any donations to your favorite animal charity in his honor would be greatly appreciated.
As per Fred’s wishes, there will be no services.

William Schilling

Wilhelm “Bill” Schilling, 67, of Lombard, died Thursday, Feb. 7, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. 
Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, and will be followed by a memorial service.  Interment will be private.
Mr. Schilling is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Kevin (Amy) and Christine; three grandchildren; siblings, Antoinette Parker, Anna (Peter) Schafer; and Karl (Heinke); and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gene.
