Mary V. Arendt

Mary V. Arendt, nee Pawlik, 85, of Itasca, formerly of Addison, died Sunday, July 7, at Forest View Nursing Home, Itasca.
Funeral services are being held today, July 10, with prayers from Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park, to Mass at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Itasca. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mrs. Arendt is survived by her husband, Theodore “Ted”; daughters, Susan P. (David) Dial, Lisa M. (Rick) Aue and Denise Arendt; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Clement (Rose) Pawlik, Alvin (Vi) Pawlik and Philomene Pawlik; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hugo, Edward, and Joseph Pawlik.
Mrs. Arendt grew up in Knox, Ind., and moved to Illinois in 1956, living in Melrose Park, Northlake and then Addison for 50 years, and Itasca the last three years. She was a former member of St. John the Apostle Church in Villa Park and St. Joseph Church in Addison. Mrs. Arendt was a current member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Itasca. She was a great mom and a good cook. Mrs. Arendt had been a volleyball player.  She had been salutatorian of her high school class. Mrs. Arendt retired from Protectoseal in Bensenville in the 1990s.

Lowell A. Sward

Funeral services for Lowell A. Sward, 84, of Lombard for over 40 years, were held Friday, July 5, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Sward was the husband for 63 years of Arlette; uncle of many nieces and nephews; and friend of many. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Sward was a proud Korean War veteran and a member of the VFW. He had worked for Sears for over 40 years.

Joaquin R. Trevino

Visitation for Joaquin R. Trevino. 91, of Elmhurst, will be today, July 10, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, at the funeral home. Interment is at Queen of Heaven.
Mr. Trevino was the father of Al, Rick (Kim), John (Donna), Helen Keele and Martha (Glenn) Domingo; grandfather of 14; great-grandfather of eight; brother of Juan Manuel Trevino; brother-in-law of Ralph (Aurora) Lopez; and uncle and cousin to many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida; daughter, Ernestine Vera; and sister, Maria Luisa Trevino.

Rena Zimmerman–Hiatt

Funeral services for Rena Zimmerman–Hiatt, nee Hendron, were held Friday, July 5, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Zimmerman was the wife of James Hiatt; mother of Patti (Bill) Keeley, Daniel and Tim; grandmother of eight; great grandmother of many; and sister of Marie (the late George) Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her previous husband, Norman Zimmerman Sr.; children, Norman Jr. and Cheryl McDermott; and three sisters and three brothers.
