John A. Aue Sr.

Funeral services and interment for John A. Aue Sr., 91, of Addison, were private.
Mr. Aue was the husband of Edith for 70 years; father of John A. Jr. (Marie), Denise (Donald) Harbecke, Ricky (Lisa) and Deborah Aue; grandfather of 10, great-grandfather of eight; brother of Joanne Warner; and uncle to many.
Mr. Aue was a lifelong contractor for Elmhurst Chicago Stone Co. and owner of John’s Trucking,

Virginia L. Gallagher

Visitation for Virginia L. Gallagher, nee Maros, 86, of Villa Park, was held Sunday, June 9, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was in Hardyston, N.J.
Mrs. Gallagher was the mother of Louise (Allen) Wons, Francine (Ron) Raethz, Charles J. Jr., Virginia (Terrance) Brady, Jacob, Joseph (Vicky), Thomas (Jan) and Walter (Marie) Gallagher; grandmother of 24; great-grandmother of 35; great-great-grandmother of one; and sister of Julius (Rosemary) Maros and Katherine (John D. Jr.) Chardavoyne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Sr.

Irene Halicka

Funeral services for Irene Halicka, 76, of Lombard were held Thursday, June 6, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park.
Irene passed after a difficult struggle with cancer. She is survived by her sister, Helen Mazanec (the late Norman); and nephews, Mark and Paul Mazanec. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonia and Anton; and brother Joseph.
Irene was a 50-year employee of CNA Insurance. She was a 35-year member of St. Pius X Church and was a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the Renew Prayer Group and the VIPs. She volunteered at the West Suburban Humane Society, the Daisy Basket at Good Samaritan Hospital and the PADS (Providing Advocacy, Dignity and Shelter) organization.
Memorial donations can be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Pius X Church or the West Suburban Humane Society.

Bernice Larsen

Bernice E. Larsen, 81, of Lombard, formerly of Glen Ellyn, died Sunday, June 9, at Lexington Healthcare, Lombard.
Funeral services are being held today, June 12, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.
Ms. Larsen is survived by her sister, Lydia DeJong of Lombard; her brother, Larry (Alane); brother-in-law, Paul Wood; eight nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willy and Sylvia Larsen; sister, Norine Wood; and brother-in-law, Harley DeJong.
Ms. Larsen was a resident of Lombard for 11 years and was formerly of Glen Ellyn 70 years, where she grew up. She was a 1949 graduate of Glenbard West High School and had worked for the First Star Bank (formerly DuPage) in Glen Ellyn and also the Glen Ellyn Savings and Loan. She had retired in the 1990s. 
Ms. Larsen was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church York Center, where she was the “Chairman of Human Care” at church and driving the seniors. She had also been on the board of education, the board of stewardship, and was a member of the Mary Martha Guild at church.

Shirley Ann Scott

Shirley Ann Scott, nee Klein, age 79, of Glen Ellyn, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, at Sunrise Senior Living in Glen Ellyn. She was the loving and devoted wife of Dr. Thomas R. Scott for 52 years.
Shirley was born Oct. 22, 1933, the youngest of eight siblings of John and Lydia Klein, and grew up on their Ackley, Iowa, farm. She was sister to Mathilda Arnold, Austin, Texas; Earl, Ackley, Iowa; Raymond (Beverly, Hampton, Iowa; and Charlotte Klein of Chicago. She was the beloved sister-in-law to Tom’s Canadian Scott families of Elwood (Beatrice), George (Helen) and Clifford (Marion); 24 nieces and nephews; and was a very special friend of Coral, Pearl and Daniel Opem. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Alvin Klein, Clara Baumgartner and Lucille Plagge.
Shirley graduated from Ackley High School and was valedictorian; she held a B.S. from Elmhurst College and an M.S. in Elementary Education from Roosevelt University. After college, Shirley’s adventurous spirit took her to Europe for a summer and a church work camp in Germany. She was devoted to teaching little children in grades one and two for 35 years in Franklin Park, Lombard and Elmhurst.
Her teaching methods enforced the joy of mastering reading, writing and mathematics. Shirley was a devoted 50-year member and choir member of First Church of Lombard, United Church of Christ.
Shirley recently received awards for her philanthropic endeavors from Elmhurst College and Northern Illinois University. She enriched her life by having a large circle of friends, reading, playing cards and world travel. She fought a long battle with cancer.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 8, at First Church of Lombard, and interment will be in Iowa at a later date.

James Silvestri

James “Sully” Silvestri, 68, of Lombard, died Friday, June 7, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Visitation was held Tuesday, June 11, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Silvestri is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary; daughter, Margaret (Jerry) Lange; sons, Joseph (Enza) and Patrick; one granddaughter; and many other family and friends.
Mr. Silvestri was a U.S. Navy veteran. He lived in Lombard for 37 years and had owned and operated his own construction company for over 30 years. He was always willing to help out his family and friends.

Daniel W. Wollensak

Daniel W. Wollensak, 58, passed away on June 4 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elmhurst. Interment was private.
Mr. Wollensak was the husband of Sue for 34 years; father of Beth (Travis) Eliason and Alec (Elizabeth) Wollensak; son of William and Patricia Wollensak; and brother of Bruce (Kate) Wollensak. The family thanks Dr. Bonomi and Irene, Dr. Diaz and Carrie, and the entire Oak Park oncology team, especially Sylvia, Jeanne and Alma.
