Amelia Abbate

Funeral services for Amelia Abbate, 101, of Lombard, were held Tuesday, June 25, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Abbate was the mother of Barbara and Darlene Bartt; grandmother of four; and great- grandmother of seven. She was preceded in death by her husband, Libero “Buck” Abbate.
Mrs. Abbate was a 25-year member of Lombard YMCA Senior Exercise Group and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.

Cora J. Lenzi

Cora J. Lenzi, nee Cesaretti, 88, of Lombard, died Wednesday, June 19, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 24, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Lenzi is survived by her children, Laura (John) Nixon, Roberta “Bobbi” Isadore, Margaret “Peggy” (James) Johnson, Nancy (Patrick) Meyers and Mark (Liza); 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Vera Cavone, Fred Cesaretti and Richard (Kelly) Cesaretti; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lando.
Mrs. Lenzi was a resident of Lombard for 63 years. She graduated from Marshall High School in Chicago. She was an executive secretary for Official Airlines Guides and retired 10 years ago after 26 years of service.
Mrs. Lenzi was active at Sacred Heart Church. She loved crocheting, sewing and cooking. She was the former owner of Pizza Palace in Lombard from 1955-64; Lando’s Restaurant in Winfield from 1966-68 and Lan’s Pizza Pantry in Lombard  from 1968-78.

Walter Emil Nowakowski

Walter Emil Nowakowski, 65, of Villa Park, died Wednesday, June 19.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave, Villa Park. Interment is private.
Mr. Nowakowski was the husband of Sue; father of Candace (Kevin) Nykiel, Cynthia (John) Keenan, David Pawlikowski, Thomas (Kristen) Nowakowski and Jerry (Rachel) Nowakowski; grandfather of 15; and brother of Barbara (Leonard) Kazmarek and Susan (Terry) Woods.

Jacqueline Porter

Funeral services for Jacqueline G. Porter, 77, of Lombard, were held Monday, June 24, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Porter was the wife of Robert D. Porter; mother of Steven (Sue) Porter, Jerry (Nancy) Porter, Deborah Callaly, Daniel (Heather) Porter and Kathy Porter; grandmother of 11; sister of Mary Argentino and Grace Frangello; and aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry (the late Lena) Argentino; and siblings, Geraldine Surico and Ronald Argentino.

Nancy A. Rudins

Nancy A. Rudins, 59, of Champaign, died Monday, June 17, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Interment will be private.
Ms. Rudins was the sister of John J. Jr., Sally A., David J., James A. (Donna), Carolyn M. Casper and Mark J. (Tina); aunt of four; and longtime devoted friend of Pat Rhoades. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jane Rudins; and sisters, Judith A. and Susan M.
Ms. Rudins grew up in Lombard, studied electronics and computer science at Parkland College in Champaign and retired after many years as a system administrator at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois. She also loved music, whether listening to her favorite recordings of the Beatles or playing guitar. Her love of animals was an important part of her life and her current pet family will miss her also.

Floyd Speckmann

Floyd Speckmann, 84, passed away at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital on June 13, 2013, after years of battling cancer. 
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Michael (Carol), Carol Hausermann (Gene) and Kurt (Dawn); grandchildren, Andrew, Amy Coots (Gene), Adam, Amanda Mitchell (Tyler), Kristen Zmuda (Steven) Marissa and Jamie Marie; one great-grandchild, Owen Michael; a brother, Leonard (Patience); cousins, Ken Hanke, Beverly Hanke, Darlene VanDerWay, Barbara Haney and James Bormann; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Speckmann was born, and lived, in Elmhurst until he moved his family to Lombard in 1958.
DuPage Crematory and Chapel has complied with Floyd's written request and no service is scheduled at this time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

James W. Wareham

James W. Wareham, 91, of Lombard, died Saturday, June 22. 
Visitation will be Friday, June 28, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. 
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, from the funeral home to Mass at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. 
Mr. Wareham was the father of Judy A. (Neal) Conway, Mary Lynn (Mike) Gallagher, Nancy T. (Mick) Casper, Jim S. Wareham, Terri L. Wareham and Bob M. Wareham;  grandfather of 13; and great-grandfather of 12. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette Wareham; and five siblings.
Mr. Wareham was a veteran of World War II.
