Norman Andrews

Funeral services for Norman C. Andrews, 94, of Villa Park, were held Friday, March 15, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside.
Mr. Andrews was the husband of Dorothy; father of John Andrews, Gary Chelin and Donna (Terry) Campbell; grandfather of four; and great-grandfather of one. He was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Andrews.
Mr. Andrews was a 35-year employee of International Harvester and a life member of Villa Park VFW Post #2801.

Eva A. Benda

Eva A. Benda, 53, of Morrison, Ill., formerly of Villa Park, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, in Silvis.
No public services are planned. Cremation rites have been accorded. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Mar. 12, 1959, in Chicago, the daughter of Stephen J. and Astrid Nilssen Benda, Jr. She had been a registered nurse at Loretto Hospital in Chicago. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park. She enjoyed antique collecting, going to garage sales, spending time with her children and watching food network.
She is survived by daughters, Melissa Benda and fiancé Tim Vicario of Eldridge, Iowa, and Natalie Benda of Bettendorf, Iowa; sons, Stefan-Thor Benda of Bettendorf, Iowa, Cody Erick Benda of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Whitney Scott and husband Ibram of Merriville, Ind.; sisters, Anna Marie (O. Arne) Nilsen of Bergen, Norway, and Karen Kruse (Tom) of Sterling; and brother, Stephen J. Benda III of Villa Park. She was preceded in death by her parents; a nephew, Lars Nilsen; and best friend Carol Waisganis.

Raymond Brinlee Sr.

Funeral services for Raymond J. Brinlee Sr., 79, of Villa Park, were held Friday, March 15, at St. John the Apostle Church in Villa Park. Entombment was at Elm Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Brinlee is survived by his children, Charles (Alana), Joan (Robert) Bieszki and Patricia (Matthew) Schuster; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Bernadette (Michael) Kammes; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; son, Raymond Jr.; grandson, Jonathan Bieszki; and brother, William (Barbara) Brinlee.
Mr. Brinlee was a lifetime member of Operating Engineers Local #150.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

John G. Green

John G. Green, 59, of Downers Grove, at rest March 15, 2013.
Visitation will be today, March 20, 2013, from 3-8 p.m. at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Family and friends are asked to meet Thursday, March 21, at St. Mary of Gostyn Church 445 Prairie, Downers Grove, for a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass. Interment is at Assumption Cemetery.
Mr. Green was the beloved husband of Linda; loving father of Justin (Emily Arturi, fiancée), Ryan (Mary Sue Nafz, fiancée), Brandon (Karla Marqui, fiancée) and loving daughter Brittany; dearest brother of Deborah Green and Timothy (Tracy Files) Green; devoted son-in-law of Jeanne (the late Melvin “Mel”) Hewelt; and special uncle, nephew and cousin to many. John will be missed by his loyal dog, Ike.
Born Feb. 3, 1954, to the late James Leehey and Bernardine Kopnick Green, Mr. Green proudly served the community of Downers Grove for 25 years as a fireman and paramedic.

Rosemary Heininger

Rosemary C. Heininger, nee Adams, age 84, died Friday, March 15, at Beacon Hill in Lombard.
Visitation and funeral Mass will be Saturday, March 23, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Christ the King Church, Lombard. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip.
Mrs. Heininger is survived by her sister-in-law Kathleen Adams and 23 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Heininger was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C.;  brothers, John (Loretta) Adams, Henry (June) Adams, Edward Adams, and William Adams; and one sister, Catherine Adams.
Mrs. Heininger was a resident of Beacon Hill in Lombard and was formerly of Oak Lawn. Mrs. Heininger attended St. Margaret of Scotland grade school in Chicago and High School Academy of Our Lady in Chicago. She went on to nursing school at St. Bernard’s and was a nurse at Hines VA Hospital. Mrs. Heininger had been active in the St. Linus Choir in Oak Lawn.

Dolores Lipinski

Dolores Lipinski, nee Piotrowski, 86, lifelong resident of Cicero, died Wednesday, March 13, at West Suburban Nursing Home, Bloomingdale.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 19, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mrs. Lipinski is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ralph W.; children, David (Karen) and Debra of Lombard; two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Bernice (Richard) Peck, Frank (Alice) Piotrowski, Stanley (Rose) Piotrowski, Marie “Mae” (Walter) Staszak, Florence Piotrowski, Hedwig Piotrowski and Walter Piotrowski; and brother-in-law, Earl Lipinski.

Gary Nye

Gary Nye, 52, of Lombard, died suddenly March 16 in Tennessee.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 23, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held Sunday, March 24, at Chicago Church of Christ at Trinity Christian School in Elmhurst. Interment is private.
Mr. Nye is survived by his wife, Christine Ann; children, Robin Hanson II and Daniel Michael; mother, Norma Jean Nye; siblings, Victoria (Tim) Mills, Daniel (Kristi) Nye, Eileen (Kevin) Trombley and Timothy G. Nye; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jerome (Jan) Koronich, Ann (Bruce) Weber, Michael (Jody) Koronich, Kathleen (Paul) Olson and JoAnn Bailey Nye; and his parents-in-law, Martha Crenshaw and Theodore (Elaine). He was preceded in death by his father, Robin Hanson Nye I.
Mr. Nye was a resident of Lombard for 12 years. He was born in Ohio and went to New Albany High School. For the last eight years he was the owner of Gary Nye the Scissor Gye, Inc. Prior to this, Mr. Nye spent 14 years in ministry with the Churches of Christ in Louisville, Ky., Champaign, Ill., and Chicago.

Leona Shodin

Leona Bernice Shodin, nee Raymo, of Lombard, died Wednesday, March 13 at GlenOaks Hospital, Glendale Heights.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 19, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with Rev. Ken Lehman, Christ Church of Oak Brook, officiating. Interment was at Fairview Memorial Park, Northlake.
Mrs. Shodin is survived by her daughters, Gail (Don) Lewis and Anita; and several nieces and nephews. She preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; and her daughter, Lynn.
Mrs. Shodin was born in Chicago to Alfred and Anna Raymo. She graduated from Tuley High School in December of 1941 and worked as a comptometer operator at Montgomery Ward, Florsheim Shoes and at GTE-Automatic Electric until her retirement.
Mrs. Shodin was quiet and a thoughtful listener. She enjoyed conversations about anything historical, classical music, hymns and the concerts presented at Christ Church of Oak Brook and several surrounding area churches.

Vernon Schuler

Vernon Neil Schuler, 73, of Lombard for 11 years, died Tuesday, March 12, at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care after a lengthy illness, surrounded by family.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 18, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mr. Schuler is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen of Lombard; children, Philip (Ana) Schuler, Ronald (Janet) and Kimberly (Timothy) Hook; five grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dagmar, and father, Elmer L. Schuler.
Born in Manistee, Mich., and raised in Chicago, he was a graduate of Chicago Vocational School in the class of 1958. He retired from National Cash Register (NCR) after 41 years.  He enjoyed being retired and volunteering for the DuPage County Sheriff's Department, volunteering for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), being a member of the Lombard Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, flying, horseback riding, geocaching with his grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
