Dorothy A. Brown

Dorothy A. Brown 88, a 65-year resident of Villa Park, died Tuesday, May 21.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 24, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Mt. Vernon Memorial Estates in Lemont.
Mrs. Brown was the mother of Suzan (the late John) Ghislain, David N. (Carol), Douglas (Mary Lynn) and Stacie (James) Look; grandmother of 13; and great grandmother of 14. She was preceded in death by her husband, David O.; and daughter, Diana (James) Stott.
Mrs. Brown was a current resident of Belmont Village of Carol Stream.

Margaret Hans

Margaret “Eileen” Hans, nee O’Hara, 90, of Lombard, formerly of Oak Park and St. Angela’s Parish, died Tuesday, May 21, in Lombard.
A funeral Mass was held Saturday, May 25, at St. Edmund’s Church, 188 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery.
Mrs. Hans is survived by her children, Mari, Peg (Steve) Diebold, Nancy (Steve) Turner, Barbara (Frank) Absher, Nora (Ned) Nevera and Ted; nine grandchildren; brother, Jim (Helen Marie); sisters, Kaye (Jim) McCormack and Joan Bissing; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; daughter, Anne Marie; son, Norman; granddaughter, Hannah Kaye Nevera; parents, James and Theresa; sister, Anne (the late Roger) Leonard; brother, Jack (the late Betty); and brother-in-law, John Bissing.
Mrs. Hans was a graduate of St. Angela Grammar School, Providence High School and Chicago’s Teacher’s College. She taught in the Chicago Public Schools, St. Edmund’s in Oak Park and St. John of the Cross in Western Springs. She retired from Glenbard West as an ESL tutor.

Edward A, Pikunas

Edward A. Pikunas, 87, of Lombard, died May 21 in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 24, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard. Interment was at St. Casimir Cemetery, Chicago.
Mr. Pikunas is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters, Nadine (James) Thorne and Roxanne (Clayton) St. John; sisters-in-law, Audrey Pikunas and Geraldine (George) Burzinski; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Veronica Pikunas; sisters, Adele Zegler and Patricia (John) Vicena; brother, Casimir Pikunas; and mother- and father-in-law, Simon and Anne Wallace.

Dr. John Butler Wager

A memorial visitation for Dr. John Butler Wager, 66, will be held Friday, May 31, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Dr. Wager is survived by his wife, Vicky Edwards; daughter, Tori Wager (Paul Corrado); stepchildren, Ben (Elisa) Gehrt, Nathan (Shannon) Gehrt and Amanda Gehrt; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and siblings, David (the Rev. Melodie) Wager and Mary Ellen (Michael) Stahr.
Dr. Wager was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He held a Ph.D. of philosophy from Northwestern and was a professor emeritus at Triton College, and was the author of “Quiet Year at War” in 2008.
