Gerry Arnold

Gerry C. Arnold, nee Gray, 85, of Lombard, died Monday, Aug. 26, in Lombard.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 6, at First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is private at the First Church of Lombard.
Mrs. Arnold is survived by her children, Andy (Sue), Pam Costakis and Don (Ann); four grandchildren; brother, Joseph (Joy) Gray; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Richard C. “Dick” Arnold; and her sister, Leslie Rogers.
Mrs. Arnold was a resident of Lombard since 1949. She grew up in Chicago and was a graduate of Northern Illinois University. She had been a teacher at Lincoln School and Westlake Junior High, both in Lombard, was a member of the Lombard Rotary Anns and a former volunteer for Love Letters in Lombard. She was very active at First Church of Lombard, including Walk in  Ministries, PADS, Outreach Ministry at Lexington; and did many service projects, including knitting soft caps for servicemen overseas. Mrs. Arnold’s late husband was the former Lombard village president.

Miriam M. Havemann-Lemke

Miriam M. Havemann-Lemke, nee Wahl, 98, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 30, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Havemann-Lemke was the grandmother of seven; great-grandmother of 20; great-great-grandmother of seven; and aunt of one. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Havemann Sr. and Herman Lemke; children, Herbert Havemann Jr., and Janet Duval; and grandson, Robert Havemann,

Martin C. Mazurk

Martin C. Mazurk, 89, of Elmhurst and formerly of Villa Park, died Monday, Aug. 26, in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
Mr. Mazurk was the husband of Jean; father of Mary (Tom) Rinda, Christine (George) McFarlane and Leslie (Joe) DiFiglio; grandfather of seven; and uncle of several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Rita Orchowski and Margaret Frenkel.
Mr. Mazurk was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Villa Park, a retiree from Nalco Chemical Co. and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, with the 391st Bombardier Group. He was an avid golfer.

Grace M. Miller

Grace M. Miller, nee DeMasi, 86, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Beacon Hill, Lombard.
Funeral services are being held today, Sept. 4, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her children, Janet L. Miller of Lombard, Gail (Tim) Kueper and Karen Enzminger; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W.; her son-in-law, Kurt Enzminger; and nine brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Miller was a resident of Lombard since 1996 and was formerly of Hillside. She was a 1944 graduate of Morton East High School. She had attended Christ the King Church in Lombard.

George Najarian

George Najarian, age 75, of Mundelein, formerly a longtime Lombard resident, passed away early Monday morning, Aug. 26, 2013, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born in Chicago on Nov. 5, 1937, to the now late Richard and Mary (nee Sarkisian) Najarian. 
George worked for Jet LithoColor in Downers Grove for over 30 years, retiring in 2009. He was an active member of the Mundelein Citizen’s Police Academy.
George was the beloved husband of 47 years to Darlene (nee Kasch), whom he wed on June 25, 1966, in Freeport, Ill.;  loving father of David (Tammy) Najarian and Tim Najarian;  and dear brother of Richard (the late Jean) Najarian and Rose Najarian. 
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 29, at Lord of Glory Lutheran Church, 607 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030, Interment was at Avon Centre Cemetery in Grayslake.

Beverly June Petersen

Beverly June Petersen, nee Meeusen, 87, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Petersen is survived by her children, David (Donald), Dennis (Darlene) and Lynda Lou (Don) Kepka; stepchildren, Chrissie and William “Beez”; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Laurie Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Florence Meeusen; husbands, Richard V. Urlaub and William L. Petersen; brothers, David and Walter “Bud”; and sister, Margie.
Mrs. Petersen resided in Lombard, Chicago and Michigan. She had waitressed and cooked at Petersen’s Ice Cream in Oak Park for many years and worked in the office when her husband became president. She moved to Lombard in 1976. She loved dogs and bred and raised toy poodles. She was a proud patriot who visited veterans at Hines VA Hospital, supported veterans causes, sold poppies on Poppy Day, and for many years was secretary to the nearby American Legion, also handling the rentals of the facility.
In recent years, Mrs. Petersen was homebound due to poor health. She looked forward to, and was grateful for, the visits from Pastor Jim Ilten, always reading the suggested scripture, her well-worn Bible close at hand at the time of her death.

Madolyn B. Rogas

Madolyn B. Rogas, born May 29, 1952, died peacefully on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at home.

Mrs. Rogas was the beloved wife of 38 years to Paul A. Rogas; loving mother of Andrew Paul, Jeanette Marie, Laura Jean, Elizabeth Diane and Christina Lynn; dear sister of Caroline Tetzel, Lucille (Gary) Smith and Eugene (Margaret) Buss; and was cherished by countless friends.
Madolyn was a resident of Lombard and a rock-and-roller, embroidery enthusiast and avid traveler.
