Myrna M. Bell

Myrna M. Bell, 75, of Lombard, died Sunday, Feb. 9, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Visitation is today, Feb. 12, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Christine Ann Camp

Christine Ann Camp, age 61, died peacefully in Chandler, Ariz., on Friday, Feb 7. Formally of Bradenton, Fla., (her favorite place) and Lombard, Ill., where she grew up.
Ms. Camp is survived by her mother, Adele Wolf Camp; children, Erin and Joni Lupo; and seven siblings. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Struhl.
Ms. Camp loved the ocean, warm weather, riding her bike, her cats, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She was also a devout Catholic and attended Sacred Heart Church in Lombard.
A memorial Mass honoring Christine will be held at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., in Lombard on Saturday, Feb. 22. Family, friends and those who wish to pay their respects are all welcome.

Theodora Collins

Theodora “Dora” Collins, 89, of Bensenville, formerly of Chicago, died Saturday, Feb. 8, at Bridgeway Christian Village.
Visitation will be held today, Feb. 12, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services are Thursday, Feb. 13, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home to Mass at St. Pius X Church. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park.
Mrs. Collins is survived by a sister, Frances Davane; 14 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews and other relatives; and four godchildren, including John (Pam) Matyasik of Lombard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; son, Teddy; and sisters, Josephine and Paulina.
Mrs. Collins lived on Chicago’s South Side for 81 years before moving to Bensenville in 2006. She retired from Walgreens after 27 years of service. She was very independent and swam at the Y three times a week. She enjoyed shopping and loved her family and friends. Mrs. Collins was an avid Cubs fan. She walked 2 miles each weekend for Mass.

Robert A. Cozzi

Robert A. Cozzi, 83, of Lombard, died Saturday, Feb. 8, in Lombard.
Funeral services are being held today, Feb. 12, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mr. Cozzi is survived by his wife, Joan L.; children, Carole (Frank) Cozzi-Jost, Robert (Lena) Jr., John (Donna) Cozzi and Alan (Diana) Cozzi; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn (Howard) Hill; brother-in-law, Patrick Davern; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Worthem and Joan Harpstreith; and cousin, Arlene Cozzi. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Davern; and two brothers-in-law, Norman Worthem and Anthony Harpstreith.
Mr. Cozzi had been a resident of Lombard for 20 years, and spent 20 years in Arizona. He was retired from Air-Rite Heating & AC in Streamwood and was a member of the Local 73 Union. Mr. Cozzi was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the United States Air Force.

Paul Francis Davis

Paul Francis Davis of Addison, Ill., passed away Sunday, Jan. 26. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Paul was born in Lima, Ohio, Sept. 17, 1926, the eldest son of Francis Davis and Velma Hunt. He graduated from Gomer High School (Ohio) in 1944 and served in the Navy in World War II. He attended Findley College in Ohio, Iowa State in Ames and graduated from Roosevelt College in Chicago in 1954 with a degree in chemistry and worked for Central Soya and Kraft Inc. He was a longtime member and choir member of the First Church of Lombard, United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lina; two sons, three daughters, 14 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son.
Memorial services are planned at First Church of Lombard, Maple Street Chapel, on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m., and at United Church of Christ in Gomer, Ohio, on April 26.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Maple Street Chapel of the First Church of Lombard, and/or the music department at the First Church of Lombard.

Joan M. Dobrotka

Joan M. Dobrotka, nee Malia, 87, of Lombard, died Thursday, Feb. 6, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 11, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Dobrotka is survived by her children, Mary (Timothy) Callery, Karen of Lombard, John E. (Heather) and Edward J. (Erika); daughter-in-law, Carol; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Malia; brother, Richard (Terri) Malia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Sr.; and son, Michael J.
Mrs. Dobrotka was a registered nurse at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and retired after 20 years. She was a member of St. Pius X Church in Lombard since 1959. She graduated from South Bend High School and graduated as a registered nurse from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in South Bend.

Ruby R. Franson

Ruby R. Franson, nee Priess, 94, of Lombard, died Thursday, Feb. 6, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 10, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard. Internment was private at Mt. Vernon Memorial Estates, Lemont.
Mrs. Franson is survived by her children, Bruce (Debby) and Karen Richardson; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Slim”; parents, Ida M. and Adolph J. Priess; and sister, Pearl L. Martin (Verne).
Mrs. Franson grew up in the Beecher/Peotone area and moved to Chicago at 13. She graduated from Fenger High School and raised her family in Homewood. After Gene’s retirement they moved to Bonne Terre, Mo., and enjoyed traveling. A few years they wintered in Arizona. After moving back to Illinois, she made new friends and renewed relationships with family and old friends. Mrs. Franson always worked hard, enjoyed life and was kind and giving to everyone she knew.

Raymond A. Fredrick

Raymond A. Fredrick, 89, of Villa Park, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Downers Grove. Cremation was private.
Mr. Fredrick was the husband of Madelyn; father of Cynthia (Michael) Grimes and Kimberly (Brian) Breen; grandfather of three; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Laura Ball, Lillian Schaetzlein and William Fredrick.

Helen H. Groebner

Helen H. Groebner, 91, of Lombard, died Saturday, Feb. 8, at Lexington Health Care, Lombard.
Memorial service arrangements are pending at Lexington in Lombard.
Mrs. Groebner is survived by her daughters, Barbara Rohde and Betsy Groebner; sister, Dorothy Wood; sister-in-law, Janet Henn; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her son, John; and brother, Bob Henn.
Mrs. Groebner was a resident of Lombard for 26 years. She was a graduate of Schurz High School in Chicago and Purdue University and had retired from Sears & Roebuck as an office worker and had also worked for the City of Chicago Public Health Department.

Helen M. Lavin, 77, of Villa Park, died Thursday, Feb. 6, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Lavin was the wife of Marshall for 56 years; mother of Steven (Michelle) Lavin; grandmother of two; sister of Charlotte (the late Joseph) Heckel and Bernadine (the late Harold) Wendt; and aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn (John) Siwak.

Jane T. Minser

Jane T. Minser, nee Williams, 98, formerly of Villa Park, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 8, at St. Petronille Church in Glen Ellyn. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Minser was the mother of Richard (Donna), Thomas (MaryAnne) and the late Jack (Nancy Ann); grandmother of six; great-grandmother of 10; great-great-grandmother of two; and aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Sr.; and siblings, Lorraine (Edward) Walsh, Richard (Donna) Williams and Leslie Williams.

Loretta B. Olinger

Loretta B. Olinger, nee Farber, 92, of Villa Park, formerly of Berwyn, died Sunday, Feb. 9, at Oakbrook Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Olinger was the mother of Michael Olinger, Nancy (Charlie) Schultz, Wendy (Keith) Murphy and Kathy (Phil) Greco; and grandmother of six. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur and Harry (Frances) Farber.

Janice Palmer

Janice Palmer, nee McLain, 60, died peacefully in Lombard on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment will be private at a later date. Arrangements are being made by Brust Funeral Home.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by her husband, George; daughters, Carolyn and Leslie; sister, Maureen McLain; uncle, Dick (Pat) Fritz, two nieces; one great-niece; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald J. Sr. and Lillian McLain; brother, Don McLain Jr.; and 11 aunts and uncles.
Born in 1953 in Chicago, Mrs. Palmer graduated from St Juliana’s School, St. Scholastica High School and the University of Iowa. At St. Scholastica she was a volunteer tutor for the Chicago Area Lay Movement (CALM). She also studied abroad in Europe during her college years.
She held many positions over her working years: waitress, store clerk, insurance claims adjuster and day care operator, as well as serving as her husband's office manager for his software business—all while raising two charming and accomplished daughters. She also spent time as a Girl Scout troop leader, classroom “art lady” and animal shelter volunteer. She was pursuing a career as a registered dietician until she was forced to abandon her studies due to advancing multiple sclerosis.
She was an avid reader, especially of mysteries; loved animals, especially cats and dogs; was a longtime supporter of classical music, singing with the Elmhurst Choral Union, where she met her husband—but was also a fan of The Beatles and Josh Groban; and supported public radio and television, being a member of WBEZ and WTTW.

Katherine Patera

Katherine “Kay” Patera, nee Hoecker, 91, of Batavia, formerly of Lombard and Berwyn, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Ekstam Assisted Living, Batavia.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mrs. Patera is survived by her children, Robert (Mary), Richard (Zindy) and Karen (George); five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Edward.
Mrs. Patera was a resident of Holmstad Senior Retirement Community for 25 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia.

Michael E. Sheehan

Michael E. Sheehan, 74, of Lombard, died Sunday, Feb. 9, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago after a battle with leukemia.
Funeral services will be held today, Feb. 12, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Sheehan is survived by his beloved wife, Ursula; daughters, Heidi and Martina; sisters, Catherine “Kay” Hession and Patricia “Puddy” (Joe) Glynn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Dorothy; sister, Mary; and brother-in-law, Tom Hession.
A native of Chicago’s South Side, Mr. Sheehan attended St. Sabina’s and St. Rita’s before joining the U.S. Navy and, later, the airline industry. He was an avid gardener, cyclist and world traveler.

Maryann Sole

Funeral services for Maryann Sole, nee Daniello, were held Monday, Feb. 10, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Sole was the wife of Anthony; mother of Dominic (Beth) Sole, Antoinette Sarno and Michael Sole; grandmother of seven;  and sister of Jeannie Daniello, Joseph (Cheryl) Daniello. and the late Therese Kasper.
Mrs. Sole was the founder of Lucky Lombard, spending many years shuttling local elderly people to fun events around the area.

Linda F. Weber

Linda F. Weber, age 87, of Lombard, formerly of Villa Park, Ill., Savoy, Ill., and Booneville, Mo. Admired teacher and counselor at District 45, Jackson/Jefferson Junior High. Strong activist of women’s rights and world peace. Mrs. Weber was also an ordained minister.
Beloved wife of Joseph R. Weber for 67 years. Loving mother of Cindy (Kathy Gingrich) Weber-Han, Amy (Mel) Hoyt, Wendy (Chuck) Ralis and the late Barry J. Weber. Lucky grandmother of 13; and great- grandmother of 12. Dear sister of Jane (James) Reynolds, Andrea (Bob) Bauman and the late Nathan (late JoAnn) Ficklin. Aunt of many nieces and nephews.
