Myrtle Abelt

Myrtle Abelt,  nee Heinichen, 94, formerly of Lombard, died Saturday, Feb. 15, at Willowcrest Nursing Pavillion, Sandwich, Ill. 
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Bethania Cemetery, Justice, Ill.
Mrs. Abelt was the mother of Amy Johnsen; grandmother of four; great-grandmother of six; and was the baby sister of Harry Heinichen, Wilbur-Heinichen, Ruth DeGarmo and Caroline Weinert. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Norman C. Abelt.
Mrs. Abelt was born in 1920 in Chicago to August and Clara Heinichen. She attended Harrison High School and later worked at Panek’s Bakery; followed by S & R Drugs, Lombard; and Glen Rexall Drugs in Glen Ellyn for many years until her retirement. She sold Mary Kay cosmetics into her 70s. She was best known for her huge capacity for love, her passion for life and her never-ending desire to try new things. She and her husband, Norm, loved to host parties for friends and family. They also loved to travel, and enjoyed many trips.

Caroline J. Bailey

Caroline J. Bailey, 94, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Feb 11, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday Feb 14, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery,
Mrs. Bailey was the wife of Raymond F. Bailey for 65 years; mother of William (Mary) Bailey; grandmother of two; great- grandmother of five; and sister of Henry, Phillip and Jim Klingelhoets.

Myrna M. Bell

Myrna M. Bell, 75, of Lombard, died Sunday, Feb. 9, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her children, Stephen (Carol), Michael (Linda), Richard (Cindy) and Kristen (John) Wahler; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many precious friends.
Mrs. Bell was born in 1938 to Joseph and Effie Leo. She was a lifelong resident of Lombard, growing up on Harrison Street. She married Ralph Raymond Bell in 1958; they resided on Park Street for over 50 years and celebrated 55 years of marriage. 
Mrs. Bell worked for the Lombard YMCA as their office manager for over 25 years. She was an active member of the Lombard Bible Church, where she had held many positions including vice president of Homemakers, deaconess, Sunday school teacher and Pioneer Girls leader. Mrs. Bell had shared a business with her dear friend Peg called The Housesweepers.
She was a published author, enjoyed birdwatching, journaling different flowers, collecting pink Depression glass, traveling and was an avid reader.  Myrna had a love for God that transformed other people’s lives.

Clinton M. Evans

Funeral services for Clinton M. Evans, 73, were held Friday, Feb. 14, at Community Presbyterian Church in Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Evans was the husband of Doreen and the late Karen; father of Michelle (James) Eiden and Lisa (Jim) Elder; grandfather of four; extended family of Kristin (Jeff) Harper and Kevin Mills, and Austin, Haley, Sydney, and Sam Harper, and Jackson Mills; brother of William (Sandy) Evans, Sherry (Cliff) Beato, Jim (Velvet) Evans and Larry Evans; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Evans was a teacher and coach at Willowbrook High School. He was elected into the Illinois High School Coaches Hall of Fame.

Ken Majerchin

Ken Majerchin, 59, of Carol Stream, formerly of Lombard, died suddenly Friday, Feb. 14, in Carol Stream.
Visitation will be today, Feb. 19 at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 20, at Brust Funeral Home. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.                                                                                 
Mr. Majerchin is survived by his wife, Pat; mother, Marguerite of Lombard; siblings, Patricia (Richard) Finke, Lisa (Glenn Hughes) Majerchin of Villa Park and Kevin (Holly); five nieces and nephews; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward.
Mr. Majerchin grew up in Lombard. He attended Schafer Grade School, Jefferson Middle School and Willowbrook High School, where he graduated in 1972. He attended college at Southern Illinois University and worked at Allstate Insurance Company from 1974-2013. Mr. Majerchin was an avid golfer and skier and was a former member of St. John the Apostle Church in Villa Park.

Funeral services for Michael J. Speciale, 78, of Villa Park, are being held today, Feb. 19, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park. Interment is private.
Mr. Speciale was the father of Michael J. (JoAnn) Speciale, Laura S. (Michael) Andersen and Joseph P. (Jennifer) Speciale; grandfather of seven; and brother of the late Angelo (June) Speciale.

Mirio Valguisti

Mirio Valguisti, 74, of Chicago, formerly of Northlake, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Norwood Crossing, Chicago.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 17, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mr. Valgiusti is survived by his sister, Kathy (Clifford) Mikkola; brother, Ed (Kimberlee) Valgiusti of Lombard; special uncle, Julian Riani; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leandro and Clara Valgiusti.
Mr. Valgiusti came to the U.S. from Italy after the war and grew up in Northlake. He was raised by his uncle and his grandparents. He had worked for the Rosen Bakery and was a member of the Bakery + Confectionary Union Local 002. Mr. Valgiusti was a member of St. Pascal’s Church.

Margaret Ann Ziebell

Margaret “Peggy” Ann Ziebell, 95, of Olathe, Kan., passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014.
Peggy grew up and lived in Edinburgh for 26 years and then moved to Chicago, Ill., where she married her husband, Bob, and lived for 10 years before moving to Lombard, Ill., where she lived 26 years. In 2000 she moved to Olathe, Kan., to be near her son and family and enjoyed her frequent visits from her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Sarah.
Peggy started her career at Reeves Pully Co. in Columbus, Ind., and later worked for the Lombard Elementary School District 44 for 25 years.
A Celebration of Life with family and friends was held at Jessen Funeral Home in Franklin, Ind., on Thursday, Feb.13, 2014, followed by a graveside service at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ziebell; father, Harry O. Winterberg; mother, Elizabeth Winterberg; and daughter, Karla Berg.
Survivors include her son and his wife, Jack and Marlene Ziebell; son-in-law, Nick Berg; grandchildren, Scott Ziebell (Gina), Andy Ziebell, Elizabeth Berg, Sarah Berg and Greg Ziebell (Amanda); and great-grandchildren, Remi Ziebell and Kailer Ziebell.

Dorothy Zukausky

Dorothy Zukausky, nee Zozulia, 86, of Beardstown, Ill., formerly of Glen Ellyn, died Sunday, Feb. 16, at Heritage Healthcare, Beardstown.
