Josephine M. Caruso

Funeral services for Josephine M. Caruso, nee Calderone, 65, of Villa Park, were held Monday, Feb. 24, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Caruso was the wife of Anthony L. Caruso; mother of Deanna Caruso, Anthony J. Caruso and John (Susie) Caruso; sister of John Calderone, Rose Therese (Tom) Jacobs and Patricia (Ken) Ferguson; and aunt of two. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Constance Calderone.

Rita J. Code

A memorial service for Rita J. Code, nee Cochrane, 85, of Lombard, will be held Sunday, March 2, at St. Thomas United Methodist Church; 2 Illinois Route 53, Glen Ellyn.
Mrs. Code was the mother of Michael (Evelyn), Gail and John (Nancy DiSanto); grandmother of three; great-grandmother of three; and aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Code; son, Mark Code; granddaughter, Meagan Code; and one sister.

Lois E. Doucette

Lois E. Doucette, nee Ford, 73, of Villa Park, died Thursday, Feb. 20, in Villa Park.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 25, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton.
Mrs. Doucette was the wife of Chuck E. Doucette for 53 years; mother of Chuck R. (Cindy) Doucette, Beth (Andy) Andersen, Cathy Doucette (Mike Stapley-Brown), Karen (Mark) Littlefield and Larissa “Laurie” Doucette; grandmother of nine; great-grandmother of two; sister of Judi (the late Don) Schilf, Bob (Nancy) Ford and Dick (Harriet) Ford; and aunt of several nieces and nephews.

Edna R. Gottfried

Edna R. Gottfried, 93, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Grove Nursing Home in La Grange, Ill.
Funeral services were held at Hursen Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014. Interment was at Glen Oak Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.
Mrs. Gottfried is survived by her children, Marlene Scalzo and John (Lynn) Gottfried; grandmother of six; great-grandmother of 13; and great-great-grandmother of two. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gottfried.

Jennie D. Greene

Jennie D. Greene, nee Hacker, 90, formerly of Villa Park, died Saturday, Feb. 22, at Bridgeway Christian Village in Bensenville.
Funeral services will be today, Feb. 26, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park. Interment will be at Naperville Cemetery in Naperville.
Mrs. Greene is survived by her children, Daniel E. (Margaret) of Villa Park, Earle D. (Wendee) Greene and Cindy M. Greene of Lombard; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and aunt of three. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E.; and son, William L. Sellers.
Mrs. Greene was a resident of Villa Park for 40 years. She grew up in Fort Wayne, Ind., and graduated from South Side High School. She worked for the U.S. Air Force as a civilian during World War II. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Villa Park, where she sang in the choir.

Patricia M. Keltner, nee Costello, 79, of Lombard, died within hours of her husband, Robert J. Keltner Sr.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 24, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment was private.
Mrs. Keltner was the mother of Robert J. Jr. (Barbara) Keltner, Howard M. (Helen) Keltner and the late Patricia M. (Brian) Hernbroth; grandmother of seven; great-grandmother of two; sister of Kathleen (the late Ed) Belmont-Junkuinc and Eileen Bergau (the late Sylvester); and aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her siblings, Frances (the late Edward) Gorman, Margaret (the late Walter) Koos, Ann (the late John) Mansuetti, Agnes (the late Arthur) Phillips, Theresa (the late William) Dorsey and Thomas (the late Iola) Costello.

Robert J. Keltner

Robert J. Keltner Sr., 82, of Lombard, died within hours of his wife, Patricia Keltner,
Mr. Keltner was the father of Robert J. Jr. (Barbara) Keltner, Howard M. (Helen) Keltner and the late Patricia M. (Brian) Hernbroth; devoted grandfather of seven; great-grandfather of two; brother of Rose (the late John) DaValle and the late George (Elaine) Keltner; stepbrother of the late Robert H. (the late Betty) Keltner; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Martha T. Nausieda

Martha T. Nausieda, nee Sangpeal, 98, of La Grange Park, formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, in La Grange Park.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 20, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park.
Mrs. Nausieda was the aunt and great-aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Nausieda; and brother, Edward Sangpeal.

Delores L. Plautz

Dolores L Plautz, nee Martin, 86, of Huntley, formerly of Lombard and Carol Stream, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, surrounded by family at Sherman Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 24, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
Mrs. Plautz is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Robert (Deborah), Judith (Ken) O'Brien and Susan (William) Jennrich; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Clara Martin; sister, Muriel (Hal) Grabow; and brother, Donald (Virginia of Florida) Martin.
Mrs. Plautz lived in Lombard for 28 years and Carol Stream for 30 years. She moved to Huntley in November. She had been married to Charles for 67 years. She worked for Illinois Bell from 1945-78 as an operator and telephone supervisor.  She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the VFW #2801 Villa Park Women's Auxiliary.  Mrs. Plautz had attended Trinity Lutheran Church and St. John's Lutheran Church in Lombard.

Patricia Ann Schaefer

Patricia Ann Schaefer, nee Krus, 70, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Feb.19, in Lombard.
Funeral services  were held Saturday, Feb. 22, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Schaefer is survived by her brother, James; sons John J. (Cheryl) and Christopher M. of Lombard; three grandchildren; and her dog, Ella. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Lillian Krus; and her dog, Annie.
Although she had a full and active life in the Lombard area working at Schweppe and Sons and Liberty Publications, she found her true purpose in her retirement watching over her three grandchildren—spending many years attending school pageants; helping with homework; and providing the voices to many Barbie, My Little Pony and Monster High dolls in homemade plays dreamed up by her granddaughter, Lily.

Jane Frances Steben

Jane Frances Steben, nee Klaeren, age 83, of Lombard, died Feb. 17 at Sunrise Assisted Living, Glen Ellyn, Ill.
A funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 21, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.
Mrs. Steben is survived by her six children, William M. (Shawn) of Tennessee, Cynthia A. Heneghan of Lombard, Karen M. (Michael) Ellerby of Glen Ellyn, Kenneth P. of Carol Stream, James A. (Julie) of Plainfield and Theodore E. (Carrie Price) of Lombard; nine grandchildren, William M. Jr., Daniel “Odie” J. and Ryne P. Steben, Jack C. and Daniel T. Heneghan, Lauren M. and Kevin A. Ellerby, Matthew J. and Marissa J. Steben; two brothers, George (Beatrice) Klaeren of Michigan and Edward (Patricia) Klaeren of Michigan; her sisters-in-law, Irene Miller of Arizona and Evelyn (John) Hertrich of Huntley; her brother-in-law, William Steben of Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Steben was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Theodore; her siblings, Charles (Geraldine), Elizabeth (Edward) Moreau, Gertrude (Earl Huntley/Larry McGuire) and William, KIA World War II, U.S. Army Europe; her brother-in-law, Marv Steben; and her sister-in-law, Carol Steben.
Mrs. Steben grew up in the Elmhurst and Villa Park area.  She was a graduate of St. Alexander’s Grade School in Villa Park, attended York High School in Elmhurst and graduated from Mendon High School in Michigan. She was a resident of Lombard for over 50 years. Mrs. Steben was married for 30 years. She was married at Visitation Church in Elmhurst on Jan. 17, 1959, and they had their reception at the VFW in Villa Park. Mrs. Steben was very active with her children and her grandchildren. She had worked at Meyer, Meyer, and Albers for over 20 years.
