Lu Bolas

Lu Bolas, nee Sayers, 89, of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Lombard, died Monday, Jan. 20 at Sunrise Assisted Living, Glen Ellyn.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 24, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Bolas is survived by her sons, Philip, John and Craig (Maggie) of Lombard; son-in-law, Burke Horner; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George; and her daughter, Susan Horner.
Mrs. Bolas was a resident of Lombard since 1956. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Lombard, a homemaker and an avid gardener.

Carl Joseph Calandra

Carl Joseph Calandra, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Marco Island, Fla.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 27, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church, in Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Calandra is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maria; children, Carla (Tom), Linda, Mark (Wally), Donna and Rosemarie (Michael); four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Joseph; sister-in-law, Ann; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Frances, Josephine, Lillian, Mary, Sam, Tony, and Angelo.
Mr. Calandra was born in 1929 in Bessemer, Ala., living most of his life in Chicago.

Helen G. Gill

Helen G. Gill, nee Lake, 89, of Lombard for 30 years, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Oak Brook Care, Oak Brook.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 27, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Gill is survived by her children, Mariann V. (John) Valle, Patti (Brad) Hanewall of Lombard, Timothy E. and Thomas W. (Germaine) of Lombard; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Chris) Lake; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Lake.
Mrs. Gill was a longtime member of Christ the King Church.

Johanna Charlotte Golz

Johanna Charlotte Golz, 1 day old, of Addison, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 27, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bensenville. Interment was at Bethania Cemetery, Justice.  
Johanna is survived by her parents, Paul G. and Allison S. Golz; paternal grandparents, Scott and Celeste Golz of Villa Park; maternal grandparents, Edward and Renee Grube; great-grandparents, Lois Golz of Lombard and Guilbert (Pam) Golz; aunt, Heidi (John) Alvarez; uncle, Aaron (Andrea); 10 great-aunts and uncles; and many other relatives.

Susan G. Hock

Susan G. Hock, nee Orienti, 61, of Villa Park, died Sunday, Jan. 26, in Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 29, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave, Villa Park. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mrs. Hock was the daughter of Evelyn; sister of Lynnette (Roger) Carvalho, Jerry (Janet) Orienti and Patti Orienti; aunt of three; and great-aunt of three. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G.; father, Jerry Orienti; and stepfather, Richard Daniels.

Jeffery M. Kennedy

Jeffery M. Kennedy 21, of Glendale Heights, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Winfield.
A memorial service was held Monday Jan. 27, at Grace Lutheran Church in Villa Park.
Mr. Kennedy was the son of Jeff (Bridget Ferg) Thomas and Renee (Tom Pearson) Kennedy; grandson of Bonnie (the late Frank) Kennedy and Sandra and Bill Thomas; brother of Chance Thomas and Anthony Hernandez; and nephew and cousin of many.

Loretta H. Peteck

Funeral services for Loretta H. Peteck, 98, were held Saturday, Jan. 25, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery. 
Mrs. Peteck was the wife of the late Thomas J. Peteck Sr.; mother of the late Thomas (Georgie) Peteck Sr., Joseph (Florence) Peteck and Loretta (Dave) Bhardwaj; grandmother of eight; great-grandmother of nine; great-great-grandmother of two; sister of  Joseph, Victoria and the late Benjamin; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Peteck was a member of York Meals on Wheels at the York Township Senior Center.

LaVerne H. Salemi

LaVerne H. Salemi (nee Kramp), age 87, a resident of Naperville, Ill., formerly of Chicago and Lombard, Ill., died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Seasons Hospice Home in Naperville. She was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Chicago.
Loving wife of the late Nicholas J. Salemi; beloved mother of Tom (Sandi) Butcher of Aurora, Ill., Pam (Jerry Johnson) Sidlo of Naperville and Michael Butcher of Lombard; adored grandmother of Tracy (Phil) Shook and Meagan (Jim) Brayton, Matthew Sidlo, Julie (Jason) Oglesby, Terry Butcher; Gregory (Carla) Sidlo and Michelle (Gregg) Brady; cherished great-grandmother of Rachel and Lauren Shook, Colin and Dillon Oglesby, Justas and Lucien Butcher; devoted daughter of the late Frank and Beatrice Kramp; dear sister of Marie (the late Gerald) Huerta of Huntley, Ill., Lorraine (John) Diana of Florida and the late Frank Kramp and Loretta (the late Frank) Butcher; loving mother-in-law of the late Michael Sidlo; and fond aunt of many.
LaVerne was a caring wife and mother who loved spending time with her family. She had an interest in art, literature, painting and music.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Jan. 27, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Naperville. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Ill.

Donald E. Schuster

Donald E. Schuster, 82, of Lombard, died Saturday, Jan. 25, in Lombard.
Visitation will be held today, Jan. 29, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 30, at St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment will be Friday, Jan. 31, at Valhalla Memorial Park, Milwaukee, Wis.
Mr. Schuster is survived by his wife of 58 years, Laurel M.; daughters, Margaret “Gretchen” (Jeffrey) Studer, Kathrin (the Rev. John) Mueller, Karen (Andrew) Gustafson, Heidi (Dr. Mark, M.D.) Iltis and Myra (Dr. Bret, Ph.D.) Taylor; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Walter) Spiess; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Weston; and his brother, Carl.
Mr. Schuster was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and grew up in Lombard and Eagle River, Wis. He attended and was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Grade School in Lombard, and was a graduate of Eagle River High School in Wisconsin. He was a veteran, having served two years in the U.S. Field Artillery during the Korean War. 
Mr. Schuster retired in 1983 after over 25 years with Automatic Electric. He held many offices and served on many boards including being the former treasurer at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard and was currently an active member and on the finance committee at St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard.

Irene R. Urzendowski

Irene R. Urzendowski, 86, of Lombard, died Saturday, Jan. 25, in Lombard.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan, 30, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard. Interment will be at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Ms. Urzendowski is survived by her sister, Rose (Wally) Nawracaj; sister-in-law, Gussie Urzendowski; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregory and Victoria; and her brothers and sisters, Benny, Andy (Caroline), An (John) Czech, Frank (Bertha), Doc (Marie Ann), Bernice (Frank) Kroll, John (Betty), Anthony, Eddy, and Ted (Anna).
Ms. Urzendowski was a resident of Lombard for 29 years. She was most proud of her family.
