Winifred J. Chaban

Winifred J. Chaban, nee Gazda, 88, of Lombard, died Monday, July 7, at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Chaban is survived by three children, Maryellen (Lance) Miner, George M. Jr. (Terry) and Betty (Jim) Mahoney; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Chaban was preceded in death by her husband, George M.; and sisters, Kathleen, and Rosemary.
Mrs. Chaban was a resident of Lombard for over 60 years in the same home. She was the former co-owner of Chaban’s Hardware Store at York and Butterfield in Elmhurst. Mrs. Chaban was a graduate of Steinmetz High School in Chicago and had attended University of Illinois in Champaign. She was a former member of the CCW at Sacred Heart Church.

Gary E. Dzadon

A memorial service for Gary E. “Swede” Dzadon, 63, of Villa Park, was held Monday, July 14, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mr. Dzadon was the husband of Marilou; stepfather of the late Andrew P. Lynch; son of the late George and Lyla; brother of William (Debbie) and Jefferey (Monica); and uncle of Billy, Alana and Jake.

George Guertin

Funeral services for George Guertin, 85, of Lombard, were held Friday, July 11, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Guertin was the husband of Angela; father of Mary (Robert Meehl), Donna (William) Paetzold, Margaret (Joe) Kralicek, Anne Guertin and the late Frank (Ruth) Guertin;  grandfather of 16, great-grandfather of six;  brother of one sister; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Edward W. Jacobsen Jr.

Edward W. Jacobsen Jr., 34, of Chicago, formerly of Lombard, died Sunday, July 13, in Chicago.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at noon, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lombard.

Margaret M. Stumbaugh

Margaret M. Stumbaugh, 91, of Villa Park, died Friday, July 11, at Artri Glen Ellyn.
Visitation and funeral Mass will be today, July 16, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Ms. Stumbaugh was the aunt and great-aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Anna; sister, Dorothy; and brothers, Fred (Marcella), and John (Marie).
Ms. Stumbaugh had been a resident of Villa Park for 55 years. She was a volunteer at the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and belonged to the Villa Park Garden Club. She was a longtime member of St. Alexander Church and belonged to the Elmhurst Art Guild. She was a 39-year employee of Illinois Bell and was a member of the Illinois Bell Pioneers.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of St. Alexander Church would be appreciated.

Donald J. White

A memorial gathering and funeral service for Donald J. White will be held Saturday, July 19, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mr. White’s survivors include his wife, Joanne; children, Donna (John Moscinski), Paula (Dennis Thompson), Al (Pam) and Doug (Kim); eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. White was born in 1928 in Chicago’s St. Sabina parish to Eloise and Jack White. When he graduated from Calumet High School in 1942, he immediately joined the Navy and served on a submarine recovery ship and then on a mine sweeper in the South Pacific. In 1946 Mr. White began studying at Wilson Junior College and playing accordion professionally. 
Mr. White often worked at the WLS Barn Dance and was a member of various groups. Entertainers such as Carol Burnett and Elton John used him when travelling through Chicago. 
Mr. White also was a full-time piano tuner for the Kimball Piano Factory in Melrose Park. He later began his own tuning company in the Western suburbs and eventually became an independent contractor and played private parties, weddings, country clubs and bar mitzvahs. He worked for E.F. MacDonald Corporation as a cruise director and also entertained at Minaki, a Canadian fishing resort. 
Mr. White served as president of the Chicago Accordion Club and enjoyed active membership until recently; and was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Chicago, serving as both a deacon, elder and elder emeritus, taught adult Sunday school and was active in church leadership. 
In 2010 Mr. White was honored through the Veteran’s Honor Flight and spent a day in Washington, D.C., being recognized for his service to his country. 

Rosemary Wiggett

Rosemary Wiggett, nee Ewing, 86, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, July 8, in Elmhurst.
A memorial Mass was held Saturday, July 12, at St. John the Apostle Church in Villa Park. Inurnment was private.
Mrs. Wiggett was the wife of the late Eugene E.; mother of Paula Winninger, Jeannine (David) Becker and Kim Berg; grandmother of six; great-grandmother of five; sister of Elaine Richie; and aunt and great-aunt of many.
