Aldo Chiappetta

Aldo Chiappetta, 74, a 25-year resident of Villa Park, died Thursday, July 24, in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 28, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mr. Chiappetta was the husband of Immacolata for 39 years; father of Manuela Battaglia and Alessandro Chiappetta; grandfather of two; brother of Ettore (Lina) Chiappetta, Enrico Chiappetta, Sal (Diane) Chiappetta, Angie Chiappetta, Mirella (Nickolas) Rendulich and the late Gina Muraca, Eva Chiappetta and Ferdinando (Rosaria) Chiappetta; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Lois R. Defenbau

Lois R. Defenbau, nee Read, 90, of Lombard, died Saturday, July 26, at Lexington Healthcare Center.
Visitation will be today, July 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, at First United Methodist Church, 155 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mrs. Defenbau is survived by her children, Michel, Calvin III and James; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sisters-in-law, Eileen Read and Clarice (James) Corcoran. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin E. “Cal”; daughter-in-law, Carol; and brother, Alfred Read.
Mrs. Defenbau graduated from Piper City High School in Illinois and Northern Illinois University with a degree in education. She was a first- grade teacher at Lincoln School in Lombard. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years at First United Methodist Church in Lombard. She was a life member of the Lombard Historical Society and Friends of the Library.
Mrs. Defenbau was very active with the Lombard Lions Club. She was a member of the P.E.O. and United Methodist Women. Mrs. Defenbau lived in Lombard for 66 years.

Daphne Espinoza

Baby Daphne Parrales Espinoza died Friday, July 25, at Loyola Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 28, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park.
Baby Daphne is survived by her mother, Yolanda L. Parrales; her father, Eliceo R. Espinoza; and her sister.

Marylou Lindhorn

Marylou Lindhorn (nee Weber), 65, of Homer Glen since 1978, died Thursday, July 10.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2, at Community Congregational Church in Villa Park (410 S. Cornell Ave.).
Mrs. Lindhorn is survived by her husband of 45 years, Clifford Lindhorn; daughters Lara (Dennis) Ward and Sara Lindhorn; three granddaughters; brother, Robert (Shari) Weber; mother, Dorothy Weber; father- and mother-in-law Robert and Mary Ellen Lindhorn; brother-in-law, Phillip (Carol) Lindhorn; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Mrs. Lindhorn was born in Oak Park, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Weber and grew up in Villa Park. Marylou graduated from Willowbrook High School in 1966.  In high school she played the violin in the orchestra, took dance lessons and performed in school musical productions.
Mrs. Lindhorn became very involved with the Lioness Club; was instrumental in the charter of the Homer Township Public Library; and was actively involved with charity events such as the Breast Cancer 3-Day, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and the Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention.  
Mrs. Lindhorn had just retired in February 2014 from her position with ABS Americas. She ran her own full-time crafting business, and knitted many sets of hats and gloves that she would take to PADS. She very much enjoyed traveling with her husband. In the warm months you could find her relaxing with her family at home on their deck.

Viola McCall

Viola L. McCall, nee Matthew, 94, of Lombard, died Wednesday, July 23, at Lexington Healthcare Center, Lombard.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 26, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Concordia Cemetery, Forest Park.
Mrs. McCall is survived by a son, Kenneth F. (Sandra); and a daughter, Diane. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank E.
Mrs. McCall was very active in the Lombard Garden Club and was a former member of the Community Presbyterian Church. She loved to read and was a master gardener. She enjoyed playing bridge and canasta.

Marlyn E. Meyer

Marlyn E. Meyer, 88, of Lombard, died Wednesday, July 23.
A visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at the First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife, Betty, nee Caldwell; children, Melinda Meyer of Naperville, Mark C. (Stacy) Meyer of Warrenville and Melissa (Rick) Hennessy of Lombard; four grandchildren, Rachel (Reid A.) Foltyniewicz of Lombard, Lauren Hennessy of Lombard, Stephanie Meyer of Utah and Kelly Meyer of Warrenville; two great-grandchildren, Reid F. and Ryder Foltyniewicz of Lombard; his brother, Norman of Bartlett; and five nieces and nephews.
Mr. Meyer was a lifelong resident of Lombard. He was a graduate of Lincoln School in 1940 and Glenbard High School in 1944. Mr. Meyer was a graduate of North Central College and received his MBA from the University of Chicago.
Mr. Meyer was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific.
He had retired from Jewel Food Stores in 1985. Mr. Meyer was a former trustee for the Village of Lombard from 1961-77. He was the Lombard Man of the Year in 1972 and was the Senior Citizen of the Year in 2011. Mr. Meyer was a member of the First Church of Lombard since 1940. He was a member of the Maple Street Chapel Preservation Society.
Mr. Meyer had celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Mr. Meyer was a charter member of the Lombard Jaycees. Along with Jack Brust and others, Marlyn was one of the founders of the Lombard YMCA. He had served on the Lombard Police and Fire Commission. Mr. Meyer served on the board of Life Link for 10 years and was president in 1995.

Robert G. Johnson

Robert G. Johnson, 82, of Lombard, died Wednesday, July 23, at Lexington Healthcare.
The memorial service will be Friday, Aug. 1, at First United Methodist Church, 155 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment will be private at Oakridge Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Marjorie A.; children, Carol and Paul (Sumalee); one grandchild; brother-in-law, Owen Wood; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Wood.
Mr. Johnson was a resident of Lombard for 54 years. He was a past president and treasurer of NAMI of DuPage. Mr. Johnson served on many committees throughout the county. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church.

Ruth Livingston Morrison

Ruth Livingston Morrison passed away peacefully at age 93 on July 11, 2014, in the Health Center at the Beacon Hill Retirement Center in Lombard, Ill. 
Ruth was born July 29, 1920, in Elmwood, Ill. She was the fourth child of Harry and Ida Livingston, who were farmers near Elmwood.
In 1945, Ruth married Earl Morrison, of Elmwood, Ill. Ruth and Earl had one daughter, Jane Ida Morrison. Earl died on March 6, 1991, and Jane passed away on Nov. 9, 2013.
Ruth attended secretarial school in Peoria, Ill., and worked for Benedict Tool and Die Company for several years.
After Earl was discharged from the Army he was employed with Standard Oil Company. Earl worked in the Peoria office, and for a short time in the Milwaukee, Wis., office. Soon thereafter Earl was transferred to the Home Office of Standard Oil, in Chicago, Ill., and Ruth and Earl then moved to Lombard, where they settled for the rest of their lives.
Ruth loved Lombard and became a very active member in the First Church of Lombard, where she helped organize the annual rummage sale at the First Church, plus being involved in Circles and helping with many dinners and receptions. She was also a member of the Elmhurst Hospital Guild. She volunteered weekly at the hospital and was active in working in the library at the hospital. Ruth was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter LN.
In the early 1960s Ruth became the secretary for the principal at the Glenbard East High School, in Lombard, a position she held for many years.
After retiring as a secretary Ruth remained active in the community, including volunteering on a weekly basis at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Downers Grove, for many years.
Ruth is survived by her brother, Raymond Livingston, and his wife Barbara, of Walnut Creek, Calif., her sister-in-law, Vera Livingston of Peoria, Ill., as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was loved by her family and many friends, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at 3 p.m., at the First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main Street, in Lombard.
A committal service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at 1 p.m., at the Elmwood Cemetery, in Elmwood, Ill.

Mary Nassos

Mary Nassos, 76, of Lombard, died Thursday, July 24 at Wynscape Nursing Home.
Visitation will be today, July 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove.
Mrs. Nassos is survived by her husband, John; sisters, Arety Bathje, Stella (Jim) Pierce and Georgia (Tony) ViTusa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Bob Bathje.
Mrs. Nassos fought a courageous battle with cancer. She was a former co-owner of “A Touch of Class” Beauty Salon in Elmhurst for 30 years.

Matthew R. Pendergast

Matthew R. Pendergast, 42, of North Carolina, formerly of Lombard, died July 18.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 24, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Pendergast is survived by his son, Justin Dean Pendergast; mother, Ruthann Pendergast; sister, Jean (Gary) Marshall; brother, David T. Pendergast; and two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Pendergast.
Mr. Pendergast grew up in Lombard and was a graduate of Green Valley Grade School and Glenbard East High School. He loved and was very proud of his son and everything he ever did and made sure everyone knew about it. He was an animal lover and spoiled his dog, Sadie, with ice cream. He loved all animals but due to a bee allergy had a strong aversion to flying insects.
Mr. Pendergast was an outdoorsman and loved camping with buddies whenever he could. He also loved fishing, whether it was on a small pond, a river or the ocean. He was an amazing uncle and was always able to make his family laugh.

William J. Schwieters

William J. “Tweets” Schwieters, 55, of Loretto, Penn., formerly of Lombard, died July 4, 2014, as a result of a motorcycle/vehicle accident.
Born Oct. 25, 1958, in Lombard, Ill., son of the late Roman and Rose (Pundsack) Schwieters. Survived by his wife, former Rita J. McFarland, and son, Samuel; daughter, Jana Lynn (Frank) Feathers, and their children, Erica, Haley and Kaleb of Claysburg, Penn. Brother of Thomas (Joan), Columbia, S.C.; Ronald Sr. (Karen), Montgomery, Ill.; Richard (Sharon), Chicago, Ill.; Marlene (Jimmy) Paschall, McDonough, Ga.; and Cathy (Tom) Huebner, Lombard, Ill. Also numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bill was a member of a bowling league in Altoona, and was a Boy Scout leader for many years. Member of the ABATE Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears.
