Nancy A. Elkin

Nancy A. Elkin, nee Tullis, 77, of Villa Park, died Monday, June 30, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Elkin is survived by her son, Richard Jr. (Louise); one grandson; and brother, James (the late Dottie); and was the aunt and great-aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dick and Bob Tullis.
Mrs. Elkin was a resident of Villa Park for 47 years.

Joseph C. Fry

Joseph C. Fry, 83, of Lombard, died Saturday, June 28, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26, at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 525 63rd St., Downers Grove.
Mr. Fry is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M.; children, Electra (Robert) Weyker, Konrad, Kurt of Lombard, Elise (John) Kedzuch of Lombard and Karl of Lombard; five grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.
Mr. Fry was a veteran, having served in the Air Force in the Korean War. He was attached to the Motion Picture Squadron and the Armed Forces Radio Network.

Suzan Gaiser

Suzan Gaiser, nee Mosley, 60, of North Aurora, died suddenly Sunday, June 29, at Provena Mercy Medical Center, Aurora.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 7, in Tennessee. Interment was at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville, Tenn.
Mrs. Gaiser is survived by her children, Sarah (Brian) True and Nicholas Gaiser; one granddaughter; and many cousins in Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara “June” and James F. Mosley of Lombard.
Mrs. Gaiser was a resident of North Aurora for 13 years and was formerly of Carol Stream for 20 years. Her parents and grandparents were originally of Tennessee. She had also resided in Wheaton. Mrs. Gaiser had attended Addison Trail High School and was a 1971 graduate of Glenbard North High School. She was the acting vice president of Greyhounds Only Inc., a very active Greyhound rescue group. Mrs. Gaiser was a former foster parent.

Maureen E. Golden

Maureen E. Golden, nee Pollard, 71, of Glen Ellyn, died Friday, July 4, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Funeral services are being held today, July 9, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Golden is survived by her husband, John L.; children, Ellen (William) Mrazek of Lombard, John P. (Marianne), Maureen E. (Greg) Joiner of Lombard and Michele (Matthew) Fenske; 15 grandchildren; sisters, Jacquelyn Haas of Lombard and Darlene Pollard; 17 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives.
Mrs. Golden was born in Chicago. She attended Visitation Grade School, York High School and was in the first graduating class of Willowbrook High School in 1960. Mrs. Golden was a devoted Nana to her grandchildren.

Lija Angela Yu Yin Hyssong

Lija Angela Yu Yin Hyssong, 16, of Lombard, died suddenly after a brief illness Thursday, July 3, in Pennsylvania.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 11, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Lija will be lying-in-state Saturday, July 12, until the time of the funeral service at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln Ave., Lombard. Interment will be private.
Lija is survived by her parents, Phil and Angie Hyssong; sister, Zoe; and grandmother, Carmen H. Kaesmeyer. She was the niece of nine. She also had many cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Lija was born in Xing Yi, China, and was adopted by her parents on Dec. 5, 1999. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School, Glenn Westlake Middle School and was currently a sophomore at Glenbard East High School where she was a cheerleader. She was active in S.O.A.R. (the youth group at St. John’s) and had been on several mission trips with them. She was a member of China Sisters and was a volunteer at NEDSRA.

Gerald P. Larm

Gerald P. “Jerry” Larm, 68, of West Chicago, formerly of Lombard, died Thursday, July 3, at Delnor Hospital.
Visitation and memorial service will be today, July 9, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mr. Larm is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Tawney (Michael) Brady and Katalin (John R.) Kolodick; three grandchildren; siblings, Judy Bennett and Jean (Charles) Natoli; and many other relatives.
Mr. Larm was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1967-69. He attended Pleasant Lane Grade School, Lombard Junior High, and graduated from Glenbard East in 1964. In 1969, he left Lombard and in 1970 moved to West Chicago, where he lived until the present. He was a member of the Illinois Swimming Association and served as an official from 1988-98. He worked as an environmental surveyor for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County until he retired in 2002.

Betty Jane Mrazek

Betty Jane Mrazek, nee Steben, 72, of Lombard, died Tuesday, July 1, at home after a five-month battle with cancer.
A funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, July 8, at the Brust Funeral Home Chapel, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mrs. Mrazek is survived by her mother, Emily Steben of Lombard; sons, Jon of Lombard, Tim (Kelly) and Joe (Kari); five grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Steben (Ann) and Jim Steben; as well as nieces and nephews across the country. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Joseph R.; and her father, Raymond H. Steben.
Mrs. Mrazek was born in Elmhurst to Raymond and Emily Steben, graduated from York High School and, in 1969, married Joseph Mrazek. The two had been residents of Lombard since 1972.
She enjoyed cultivating her flower garden, golfing with her beloved Joe or her Tuesday Night Ladies League, cheering on the Cubs, and any activity that included lifelong friend Barb (especially bird watching). More than anything, Betty truly cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Fred M. Patyk

Fred M. Patyk, 92, of Lombard, died Saturday, July 5, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be today, July 9, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 10, from Brust Funeral Home to Mass at St. Pius X Church, 1025 E. Madison, Lombard. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Patyk is survived by his wife of 65 years, Estelle; children, Robert, Richard and Marie (Tony) DeCicco; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Mr. Patyk was a veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was in action at the Battle of Okinawa. He graduated from IIT in mechanical engineering. Mr. Patyk worked at Boise Cascade and then at Wrigley Company as a senior project engineer. He retired in 1987. Mr. Patyk was a member of the Villa Park VFW Post # 2801.
