Michael B. Calyn

Michael B. Calyn, 53, of Villa Park, died Saturday, June 7, in Villa Park.
A memorial service will be held Saturday June 28, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Villa Park.
Mr. Calyn was the son of Arla and the late Paul Calyn; best friend and former spouse of Pam Calyn; nephew of Eunice Lea; and is also survived by many cousins.

Marie Davenport

Marie Davenport, nee Paetsch, 91, of Lombard, died Sunday, June 8, at Lexington Health Care, Lombard.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 12, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Davenport is survived by her children, Marilynn Szecholda, Edward A. Hummel and James Richard (Cheryl) Garrison; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Davenport; son-in-law, Robert Szecholda; daughter-in-law, Retha Hummel; and brother, Warner Senn.
Mrs. Davenport was a resident of Lombard for 40 years and was formerly of Villa Park 20 years. She had worked for Sears, Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery and also in real estate. Mrs. Davenport was a crafter and enjoyed ceramics, knitting and stamp collecting. She was an avid reader.

Daniel Grimm

Funeral services for Daniel Grimm, 20, of Villa Park, were held Saturday, June 14, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.
Mr. Grimm was the son of John Grimm and Suzanne Grimm; stepson of Kristina Grimm; grandson of Charles and Jacquelynn Grimm and Dave and Elaine Burya; brother of Steve and Jessica Grimm; nephew of Michael (Sherri), Mark (Cheryl) and Andrew (Shana) Grimm; and cousin, relative and friend of many.

Lawrence Hageland

Lawrence “Larry” Hageland, 91, of Elmhurst, formerly of  Winfield, Wood Dale and Lombard, died Tuesday, June 10, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 14, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West.
Mr. Hageland is survived by his wife, Annette; children, Richard, David (Roberta) and Susan (Terry) Cessna; was the brother-in-law of Charles (Darlene) Wingard of Lombard and Betty Moody; uncle of seven; grandfather of eight; and great-grandfather of eight. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Karoline Hageland; and brothers, Oscar, Elmer, Bernard and Harding.
Mr. Hageland served with the U. S. Marines during World War II with the 2nd Division during the invasion and battle of Okinawa, occupation of Japan and in the Pacific. He grew up in Minnesota  and graduated in 1941 from high school there. He started Tree Towns Blue Print Service, now Tree Towns Reprographics Inc. in 1955. The business is still in Elmhurst. He was a life member of the DuPage Marine Corps League in DuPage County and also a longtime member of the Chamber of Commerce in Elmhurst. He was active in and former president of Chicago Blueprint Club. He was also a member of IRGA, NCRA, CRA and REPROMAX. He was a former member of the Long Range Planning Committee at St. John’s, former financial secretary at St. John’s and a former member of St. John’s A Dart Team. He was a member of River Forest Country Club.

Christopher M. Hayden

Christopher Michael Hayden, 40, of Lombard, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 11.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 16, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Interment was private.
Survivors include his parents, William Hayden and Irene Hayden; older brother, Sean Hayden of Lombard and younger sister, Elizabeth Hayden of Villa Park; one nephew; girlfriend of almost 20 years, Jennifer Hensley, and her son Ryan Hensley; and many close uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Born on Feb. 11, 1974, in Chicago, Mr. Hayden was raised and educated in Lombard. He had a great passion for music, guitar and the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team. He loved spending time outdoors at his family’s cottage in Wisconsin, sitting beside a fire and looking at the stars. He will be most remembered for his love of his family and especially his nephew Chase Lichter; he had compassion for all living creatures, both people and animals.

Joseph Mowrer

Joseph “Ed” Mowrer Jr., 67, of Elmhurst, died Thursday, June 12, in Downers Grove.
A memorial visitation will be held Monday June 23, at Steuerle Funeral Home 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment is private.
Mr. Mowrer was the friend and former spouse of Diane Mowrer; father of Joseph E. II (Michele) Mowrer and Daniel J. (Edyta) Mowrer; grandfather of four; son of the late Joseph E. Sr. and Gypsie Mowrer; brother of James (Jeanie) and Frederick (Kim) Mowrer, Alice Niziolek and Kathy (Glen) Mundle; uncle and great-uncle of many; and friend to all who knew him.
Mr. Mowrer was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

John T. Strand

John T. Strand, 57, of Lombard died Thursday, June 12.
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, June 22, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  Interment is private.
Mr. Strand is survived by his wife, Madelyn; sons, Jonathan (Courtney) Strand, Michael Strand and Manuel (Tracie) Andrade; six grandchildren; father, Johan T. (Mary) Strand; sisters Bonnie (Frank) Coconato and Carol (Tim) Knor; 14 nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Ann Carlson. 
Mr. Strand was a very loving person. He was always willing to help anyone in need.  He was a man’s man.  He was hardworking and took good care of his family and friends.  He will be missed by all.

Ernest A. Theiner

A memorial service for Ernest A. Theiner, 86, of Elmhurst and Villa Park, was held Saturday, June 14, at Community Congregational Church in Villa Park.
Mr. Theiner was the husband of Harriet; father of Pat (Kelvin) Johnson and Judy (Donald) Campbell; grandfather of six; great-grandfather of four; brother of Heinz (the late Carol) Theiner; and uncle of three. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Paul Theiner.

Michael David Nicholas Thompson, 4 days, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, June 10, at Loyola Hospital.
