Jerome P. Beck

Jerome P. “Jerry” Beck, 83, of Mt. Morris and formerly of Oregon and Lombard, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, in KSB Hospital, Dixon.
Born April 15, 1930 in Odell, Ill., the son of Leo and Mary (Hennessey) Beck. Married to Norma Pugh April 30, 1966, in Bellwood, Ill.; she died June 1, 2013.
Jerry graduated from Proviso East High School in 1948 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was employed as a clerk for Commonwealth Edison for 41 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon and a longtime supporter and participant of Rock River Center and the Boot Scootin’ Seniors. Jerry loved writing, gardening and birds.
Survived by his son, Timothy (Kim) Beck of Wheaton; daughter, Pamela (Art) Miehle of Villa Park; grandchildren, Abigail, Hannah and Timothy Beck and Anna Miehle; and sisters, Eleanor (Tony) Tardi of Darien and Donelda Smith of St. Charles. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo Beck and Thomas Beck; and sister, Marilyn Anton.
Christian Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, March 4, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Oregon, with the Rev. Joseph Naill as celebrant. Burial was at St. Mary Cemetery, Oregon.

Marlene M. Bogacki

Marlene M. Bogacki, 69, of Villa Park, died Sunday, March 2, in Villa Park.
Visitation and funeral services are Thursday, March 6, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Cremation is private.
Mrs. Bogacki was the wife of Richard for 46 years; mother of Danielle Drake and Joseph (Beth) Bogacki; grandmother of three; and sister of Ralph (Christine) Pfiefer.

Rose Brnusak

Rose Brnusak (nee Kurilko), of Lombard, formerly of Bobtown, Pa., died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014.
Rose was the beloved wife of the late Matthew Sr.; loving mother of Matthew Jr. (Patty) and John A. (Cynthia); fond sister of the late Tom (the late Vera) Kurilko, the late James (Carolyn) Kurilko and the late Veronica (the late Edmund) McIntire; dear grandmother of Jennifer and David; and dear step grandmother of Kevin and Julianna.

Kari J. Davis

Kari J. Davis, 22, of Lombard, died suddenly Monday, Feb. 24, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 28, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Ms. Davis is survived by her mother, Elizabeth, of Lombard; father, Michael, of Lombard; sister, Shana (Chad) Works of Lombard; two brothers, Christopher Davis and Timothy; grandparents, Michael (Nancy) Livermore and Nancy Brewer Livermore; many other relatives and her godparents, Timothy (Donna) Livermore of Lombard and Leslie (David) Striker. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Damon and Marion Davis.
Ms. Davis attended Pleasant Lane and Madison Elementary School and Glenside Middle School and graduated from Glenbard East High School. She attended Easter Seals and was a member of Illinois Spina Bifida. She was a smiler and very easygoing. She always remembered and greeted everyone.

Robert J. Jordan

Robert J. Jordan, 86, of Villa Park, died Friday, Feb. 28, in Westmont.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 4, at St. John the Apostle Church in Villa Park. Entombment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mr. Jordan was the father of Aimee (Richard) Saflover, Luke Jordan, Robert E. (Angela Westphal) and Kathy Jordan; and brother of William (Darlene) Jordan and Michael Antink. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey A.
Mr. Jordan was retired from ComEd.

Arthur Karnatz

Arthur H. Karnatz, 90, World War II veteran, longtime Lombard businessman and resident of Lombard, died Sunday, March 2, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Glen Ellyn.
Funeral services are being held today, March 5, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lombard. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Karnatz is survived by his daughter, Sue E. (Richard) Roelling; sons, Steven A. (Nancy), Karl G. (Lee Ann) and Allen H. (Lynn); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Doris Wilterding. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne R.
Mr. Karnatz served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He celebrated his 19th birthday in basic training; his 20th birthday in England, waiting for the invasion of France; and his 21st birthday on the road to Berlin. Mr. Karnatz was a staff sergeant for the 1591st Ordinance Company. He crossed Omaha Beach at D-Day + 30. He participated in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.
He was the first business tenant at the Lombard Temple Building, which was located on the northwest corner of Main and Maple streets in Lombard. He was the founder of Karnatz Insurance Agency there in 1955, which is now the Nolan Insurance Agency in Lombard. He retired 25 years ago. He founded, with Jack Brust, the Lombard Business Men’s Association.
Mr. Karnatz was an honorary member of the Lombard Rotary Club. He was a former member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Board of Deacons, Board of Trustees and the A Dart Team. He was a former member of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce. He was a graduate of Lane Tech High School in Chicago. Mr. Karnatz loved Ki’s Restaurant.

LaVerne Lillig

LaVerne Lillig, nee Hanson, 96, died Thursday, Feb. 27. 
Mrs. Lillig is survived by her sons, John (Sally) and Jeffrey (Lindsey); grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband of 62 years, Andrew G. Lillig, whom she met while square dancing.   
For many years, Mrs. Lillig expressed her love of music by teaching piano, and continued to play almost daily throughout her life.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lombard for 55 years and was active in the women’s circle organization.

Daniel “Pete” Sinetos

Daniel “Pete” Sinetos, 56, of Somonauk, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich.
He was born July 23, 1957, in Chicago, to Daniel and Patricia (Scherer) Sinetos. He was a graduate of Glenbard East High School. Pete was a longtime mason, owned his own masonry business for many years, and was a self-proclaimed “Artiste” when it came to bricklaying. He enjoyed cooking and get-togethers with family, especially his grandkids.
A loving son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, who will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by the love of his life, Jan Knudsen; two sons, Nick (Kristal) Sinetos of Leland, Ill., and Phil (Kristine) Sinetos of Sandwich, Ill.; two stepchildren, Stacy (Mike) Gianino of Anna, Texas, and Byron (Ashley) Knudsen of Dunlap, Ill.; one daughter, Tania (Troy) Kern of Sandwich, Ill.; 14 grandchildren, Jordan, Jazlynn, Jenna, Jaden, Austin, Alexis, Aiden, Lucah, Claire, Ava, Samantha, Kody, Kadin, and Kai; his father, Daniel (Cheryl) Sinetos of Vero Beach, Fla.; one brother, Andrew Sinetos of Aurora, Ill.; two sisters, Penny (James “Jr.”) Wilds of Winfield Ill., and Elizabeth (Dan) Weigel of Yorkville, Ill.; and several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many amazing friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia; and two grandsons, Ashton and Silas.    
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Harvest Chapel Church, 725 S. County Line Road, Sandwich. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday March 7, 2014, at Harvest Chapel Church. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk.
