David J. Aguirre Sr.

David J. Aguirre Sr., 85, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 26, at the First United Methodist Church 155 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Queen Of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mr. Aguirre is survived by his wife of 63 years, Angela Aguirre; children, David Aguirre Jr., Veronica (Mark) Russell and Timothy (Lynda) Aguirre; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Mr. Aguirre was born in Chicago, where he lived until 1973 when he moved his family to Lombard. He was an accomplished classical guitarist and played professionally for most of his adult life. He worked for New York Life as an insurance broker until his recent retirement.
Mr. Aguirre was also a member of the Lombard Lodge 1098 of Freemasons, a Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago member, and a member of the Medinah Shriners. Through his membership in these organizations, Mr. Aguirre spent a large amount of time and energy to assist those who were in need.
Mr. Aguirre was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lombard for 40 years and served on the church board.

Joyce M. Baughman

Joyce M. Baughman, age 70. Beloved wife of Edward S. Loving mother of Edward F. (Annmarie), Kimberly (Richard) and Rebecca. Caring Grandmother to Anthony, Stephanie, Paige, Vincent, Christopher, Heather, Desiree and Joey. Dear sister of Robert, Ralph, Raymond, Bettie and the late Dora, Joanne, Ruth and Eddie. Very caring aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Barbara Bourque

Visitation for Barbara Bourque, nee Trost, was held Monday, Sept. 29, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Bourque was the wife of the late Joseph; mother of Christopher, Catherine (Wayne) Cote, James (Susan), Joan, Stephen (Peggy) and Maryanne; grandmother of seven; and great-grandmother of one.
Mrs. Bourque was a longtime resident of Lombard. She was a retired librarian from Helen Plum Library.

Lorraine Burmeister

Lorraine C. Burmeister, 89, of Granger, Ind., died Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Hearth at Juday Creek.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 30, from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Jeff Stoneberg officiating. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton.
Mrs. Burmeister was the wife of the late Ernest R. Burmeister; mother of the late Mary Ellen Kennedy, the late Gerilyn Lee Barton, Teresa Ann Bittinger, Richard Ernest Burmeister (Paula) and Carl Anthony Burmeister; grandmother of 11; and sister of Ralph (Maxine) Haas, Ken (Geraldine) Haas, Richard Haas and Rita Ruhland. Siblings LaVerne, Louis, Cletus and Lucille Haas preceded her in death.
Mrs. Burmeister was the valedictorian of her high school and graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Madison, then served in the Cadet Nurse Corps and Red Cross. She was a founding member of Christ the King Church in Lombard, where she sang in the choir, donated her time and talents to Martha’s Circle, eucharistic ministers and served as women’s club president, where she was honored as Woman of the Year. She loved to travel with her husband, touring Europe, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and almost every state in the U.S.; was active in the Red Hat Society; and loved her time with family and friends, playing cards, sharing a laugh and a beer.

Henry Gross

Funeral services for Henry “Sonny” Gross, 94, of Lombard, were held Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Gross was the husband of 37 years of Dolores Gross; father of Hank (Mary Jane Howard) Gross and Donnie (Cindy Wargel) Gross; stepfather of Debby (Frank) Todhunter and Lyn (Alan) Dunbar; grandfather of 12; great-grandfather of nine; brother of the late Helen Lambert, the late Eutha DeGiacanto and the late Babe Carpenter; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gross was a member of Masonic Lodge 32nd degree (Scottish Rite), he worked farming at a young age in Shawneetown and retired as a security guard.

Wilma June Henaughan

Wilma June Henaughan, nee Block, 75 of Lombard, died Thursday, Sept. 25, in Glendale Heights.
Visitation is today, Oct. 1, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, where the funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 2. Interment is at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
Mrs. Henaughan was the wife of James E. Henaughan; mother of Raymond (Meg), James W., Karen (Steve) Cappitelli, Aileen (Jeff) Schmidt and Kathleen (Vic) Fanelli; grandmother of 12; sister of Cheryl (Dennis) Ferovick and the late Bonnie (the late Elmer) Anderson; and aunt of many.

James J. Hovorka

James J. Hovorka Jr., 87, of Lombard, World War II Marine veteran, died Saturday, Sept. 27, in Lombard.
Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private at Oakridge Cemetery.
Mr. Hovorka was the husband of the late June E.; father of James M., the late Sharon and the late Steven; brother of Donald (the late Mary Ann) and the late Kenneth and Earl; and uncle and great-uncle of many.
Mr. Hovorka had been a resident of Lombard for 66 years. He was a volunteer fireman with the Farmettes.

Marion Johansen

Marion Johansen, nee Schaefer, 81, of Villa Park, died Sunday, Sept. 21, in Villa Park.

Mrs. Johansen was the wife of the late Walter R. Elizabeth McPherson

Services and interment for Elizabeth “Liz” McPherson, 74, of Lombard, are private.
Ms. McPherson was the daughter of the late Leone and the late Edna McPherson; sister of Leone Jr. (Nancy) McPherson; and best friend of Isela, Carol and Kay.
She will be missed by her many friends at St. Regis and fellow parishioners of Calvary Church in Lombard. The advice and wisdom Liz would like to pass along to others: “Don’t let life get you down.”

Michael E. McCarthy

Michael E. McCarthy 85, of Lombard, U.S. Army Korean War veteran, died Sunday, Sept. 21, in Downers Grove.
A memorial Mass was held at St. Pius X Church, Lombard. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. McCarthy was the husband of the late Elizabeth; father of Virginia McCarthy, Mary Kay (John) Brown, Patrick (Ida), Margaret (Dean) Courser, Colleen McCarthy, Rosemary (Mark) Belcolore and Timothy (Carol) McCarthy; grandfather of eight; great-grandfather of five; brother of Patricia (Dr. Tom) Flynn, Joanne (the late Richard) Lindsey and the late Mary Frances McCarthy; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Mr. McCarthy was a founding member of St. Pius X Church.

Elizabeth A. Monk

Elizabeth A. Monk, nee George, age 74, of Lombard, died Monday, Sept. 29, at Atria Assisted Living, Glen Ellyn.
A memorial gathering and family remembrance will be held Sunday, Oct. 5, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
Mrs. Monk is survived by her sons, Daniel J. (Emily) of Lombard and Christopher A. (Jennifer) of Lombard; four grandchildren; and many friends at Carson’s. She was preceded in death by her husband, George T.; son, Thomas; and brother, John George.
Mrs. Monk was a 25-year employee of Carson Pirie Scott Co.

Adeline Plotke

Adeline Plotke, nee Manijak, 83, of Lombard, died Sunday, Sept. 28, in Lombard.

Mrs. Plotke is survived by her children, Diane Schultz, Thomas (Susan), Richard (Kathy) and Ann (Mike) Locashio; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Plotke Jr.; son-in-law, Thomas Schultz; and siblings, Chester, Edwin (Lala), Leo (Lucille), Loretta (Mitchel) Zubek, Bernard (Maryann), Richard (Virginia) and Thaddeus.
Mrs. Plotke was born and raised in Chicago. She loved working in the garden, quilting, going to craft shows and spending time with her family.

Mary Ellen Reynolds

Mary Ellen “Murph” Reynolds, 91, of Lombard, died Monday, Sept. 22.
A funeral Mass is being held today, Oct. 1, at Christ the King Church, Lombard. Interment is at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
Mrs. Reynolds was the wife of the late Edward J. Reynolds; mother of Robert, Eileen, Patrick, Mary Jane, Nancy and Jean; grandmother of nine; and great-grandmother of three.
Born in Chicago to Tim and Bridie Murphy, she moved to Lombard in 1955, which was where she lived until about a year before her passing. She loved travel and new places. She had a huge and loving heart and a gift for laughter. She was courageous, too, which showed clearly when her son Michael died tragically young.

Floyd J. Skawski

Floyd J. Skawski, 93, a longtime resident of Villa Park, died Monday, Sept. 22.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 30, at St. Alexander Church, Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Skawski was the husband of the late Regina; father of James, Thomas (Maureen), Carol (Nick) Lupo and the late Floyd James Skawski; grandfather of seven; great-grandfather of five; brother of Josephine Olinski; godfather to Louise Mueller; and uncle to many.
Mr. Skawski was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran serving in the China, Burma and India Theaters as a navigator.

Walter M. Suchor, 87, of Lombard and Villa Park, World War II Army and Air Force veteran, died Monday, Sept. 22, in Bartlett.

Dolores J. Ward

Dolores J. Ward, 90, nee Hedlund, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Beacon Hill Health Care, Lombard.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 26, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her children, Michael (Linda), Janice (Gregory) Blum and Maggie (Craig) Bolas of Lombard; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R.
Mrs. Ward was a resident of Lombard for 50 years and was a former member of the First United Methodist Church. She worked for Central DuPage Hospital and retired from the DuPage County Health Department. She was an avid bridge player.

Lyle D. Yattoni

Lyle D. Yattoni, of Lombard, born July 16, 1939, in Spring Valley, Ill., passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Ill.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 27, at St. Pius X Church in Lombard.
Mr. Yattoni was the beloved husband of Patricia, nee Koskoskoy; loving father of Yvonne, Kevin and the late Craig Yattoni; beloved son of the late Catherine and Hugo Yattoni; proud grandfather of Elizabeth O’Loughlin; dear brother of Ronald Yattoni; and fond uncle of many.
Mr. Yattoni was a member of American Legion T.H.B. Post 187 in Elmhurst.
