Stephanie L. Donaghey

Stephanie L. Donaghey, born Llewela Stephanie Davies in Wales on July 27, 1951, died Saturday, Sept. 13, at St. Patrick’s Residence, Naperville.
A memorial gathering will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is private.
Ms. Donaghey is survived by her children, Claire (Joseph), Owen (Shelby) and Oliver; four grandchildren; mother, Marie Davies; brother, Tom; two nephews; and her fiancé, Ken. She was preceded in death by her father, John Davies.
Ms. Donaghey grew up moving around Wales and England with her parents, and in Essex, where she married Kevin in 1973. Her three children were all born in Shoeburyness, where she enjoyed life teaching dance to keep fit with a group of friends. Holidays were spent with her grandparents in Wales helping in the fish and chip shop and enjoying beautiful Welsh beaches.
In 1992, the family relocated to Chicago and Ms. Donaghey worked as a recreation aide in nursing homes and worked her way up to become activity director at the British Home. She earned her administrator’s license for nursing homes, which led to her post as assistant administrator at St. Patrick’s Residence in Naperville, where she loved working with the staff, residents and volunteers.
Hobbies included gardening, Scottish and English country dancing and motorbike rides with Ken. She was a member of the Daughters of the British Empire. Despite her aggressive brain cancer and prognosis, she lived life to the full and with the love and support of Ken and her family.

Josephine Rose Falcone

Josephine Rose “Josie” Falcone, 91, of Elgin, formerly of Hillside and Lombard, died Monday, Sept. 8, in Elgin.
Visitation was held Friday, Sept. 12, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Entombment was Saturday, Sept. 13, at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum.
Mrs. Falcone is survived by her daughters, Carol Cieslowski, Susan DiCosola and Denise (John) Carpenter; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Dominic, Tony, Mary, Kathy, Pat and Rosie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Falcone; sister, Neva; and brothers, Joe and Steve.
Mrs. Falcone lived in Coloma, Mich., on her family’s farm until 1945 when she moved to Chicago after marrying her husband, Joe. In 1969 she moved her family to Hillside. She resided in Hillside until 2001 when she moved to Lombard with her daughter, Denise, and son-in-law, John. She remained there until 2013 when they all moved to Elgin
Mrs. Falcone was always on the go and bowled on leagues for many years at the Hillside Bowl. She spent a lot of time with all of her grandchildren; she really appreciated going to their sporting events and watching them at cheerleading.

Ellen Flood

Ellen Flood, nee Miskella, 78, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Good Samaritan Hospital, with her husband of 56 years and five children at her bedside.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 15, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mrs. Flood is survived by her husband, John, whom she married in 1958; children, Maureen, Kathleen (Art), John (Marie), Eileen (Ed) and Tim; seven grandchildren; siblings, Peter, Elsie, Margaret and Kathleen; and was the aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick.
Mrs. Flood was born in County Wexford, Ireland, in 1936. She immigrated to the United States when she was a young woman. She married John in 1958. She had a wonderful life raising her children and enjoying her grandchildren. She cherished her friends and family. She worked for Loyola University Hospital until 1997. She enjoyed gardening, volunteering, investing and spoiling her grandchildren. She was well known for her famous Irish soda bread.

Barbara Hinz

Barbara Hinz, nee Lane, 71, of Lombard, died Monday, Sept. 8, in Lombard surrounded by her daughter, brother, son and husband.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 15, at Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church, 206 W. St. Charles Road, Villa Park. Interment followed at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Hinz is survived by her husband, Ted, whom she married in 1963; children, David (Denise), Lisa (Tom), Steven (Dawn) and Aaron; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, David; and was the aunt of many.
Mrs. Hinz was born in Hinsdale in 1942. She resided with her family in what is now Indian Head Park, until the family moved to Lombard in 1957. She was a member of the graduating class of Willowbrook High School in 1960. She was an avid reader, lover of musical dramas and a frugal shopper extraordinaire. She worked for Sunbeam Corp. in accounting and Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church as an administrative assistant. Her most important work was that of a mother and is evidenced by devotion to her children and commitment to God.

Virginia Kvech

Virginia M. Kvech, 62, of Westmont, died Saturday, Sept. 13, at Manorcare at Westmont.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.

Helen A.A. Layman

Funeral services for Helen A.A. Layman, nee Richardson, 81, of Villa Park., were held Monday, Sept. 15, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was at Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Mrs. Layman was the wife of Paul Layman Sr.; mother of Ardeanna (Robert) Ferguson, Rhonda (Ron) Partusch, Monica (Robert) Nieling, Tamara (Leo) Gonzales and Paul Jr. (Dina Murphy) Layman; grandmother of 12; great-grandmother of eight; sister of Carol, Shirley, June and Perry; and aunt of nieces and nephews.

James W. Panter Jr.

James W. “Jim” Panter Jr. died Monday, Sept. 8, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 13, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Mr. Panter is survived by his wife, Nancy, the love of his life, whom he married Oct. 19, 1955; children, Scott (Susan) of Villa Park, David (Margie), Jeff of Villa Park and Wanda Lou Young; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, James P. Walter Sr. and Edna Panter, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles W. Panter; sister, Mildred Yost; and brother-in-law, Tom Young.
Mr. Panter was born in Struthers, Ohio. He had lived in Cleveland, moving to the Chicago area then to Villa Park in 1967. He was a 1953 graduate of Struthers High School. He worked at General Extrusions in Youngstown and in construction with the Arnold Company in Cleveland. He then worked in the printing industry where he found his career.
Mr. Panter had worked for Associated Data Forms in Oak Park, founded by his brother, Charles, and later for his brother’s company, Midwest Graphic Industries (MGI), where he operated the manufacturing division that printed the multi-part business forms. In 1983 Mr. Panter purchased Midwest Graphic Industries (MGI) from his brother serving as president until his passing. .
Mr. Panter was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the Maywood Sportsman’s Club, where he was an avid target and trap shooter with his son, David.

Marion O. Schroeder

Marion O. Schroeder, nee Lechelt, 88, of Downers Grove, formerly of Lombard, died Saturday, Sept. 13, at Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center, Naperville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 16, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Schroeder is survived by her children, Russell, Kathleen (Joseph) McCabe, Linda (Ronald) Henry and Allen; three grandchildren; granddaughter-in-law, Michelle Henry-Pace; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Ed Lechelt, Norm (Rita) Lechelt and Leona Davis; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jr.; grandson, Kevin Henry; and sister-in-law, Betty Lechelt.
Mrs. Schroeder was born in Hillside, where she grew up, and was a graduate of Immanuel Lutheran School. Mrs. Schroeder was a 1944 graduate of Proviso East High School. She had been a resident of Lombard for many years, from 1946-91 and from 1992-96. Mrs. Schroeder had lived for a year in Arkansas in 1991 and had moved to Downers Grove from Lombard in 1996. She was a member of the American Rose Society for many years and also the St. John’s Ladies Aid.

Anne Avent Thomas

Anne Avent Thomas, 83, of Lombard, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 12, at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 19, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment arrangements pending.
Ms. Thomas is survived by her daughters, Leigh Hamilton and Laura Peterson; three grandchildren; and and sister, Jane Shackelford. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lloyd Avent and Anna Merle.
Ms. Thomas was born on December 1, 1930 in Macon, Georgia.
