Bruce “Gor” Gorman

Bruce “Gor” Gorman, 59, of Wheaton, formerly of Lombard, passed away Wednesday, April 15, after a valiant 22-month battle with cancer.
Gor is survived by his wife Peggy, brothers Glenn (Sharon) and Tom (Kathy), niece Christine, great-nephew Cody, great-niece Mackenzie, cousins Jim (Kathy) McAra and Aunt Sis Stahl, as well as longtime friends John and Dan Chidlow, and Rob Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents Hilda and Alfred Gorman.
Gor attended Hammerschmidt School, Lombard Junior High and Glenbard East High School. He was a graduate of the College of DuPage and the University of Oklahoma. He enjoyed a long career in advertising and was a partner in both Communications Dynamics and Gorman Navolio.
Gor loved his Cubs and all Chicago sports team. He also enjoyed good food, drink and travel.
His love of baseball started when he was about 6 and his father took him to a Cubs game. Over the years, family vacations would often include a visit to other ballparks. His visits to major league ballparks continued into adulthood and on Sept. 13, 2014, Gor realized his dream when he visited Busch Stadium in St. Louis, which was the last of 50 former and present ballparks visited by him.
His visit to Busch Stadium last year not only completed his quest to visit all the major league ballparks, but landed a congratulatory message on the scoreboard which read, “Cardinals Welcome Gor. Welcome to your 50th ballpark.”
The trip to the final stadium on Gor’s list was shared by his wife, Peggy, and longtime “baseball buddies,” the Chidlows and Jensen.
And Gor did more than just visit the ballparks. In order for a ballpark to make it onto his official tally, he had to attend an official game (at least five innings) and have a beer and a hot dog.
The family will hold a celebration of Gor’s life on Saturday, April 25, from 1-5 p.m. at 610 Polo Dr. in Wheaton.
During his last days, Gor received amazing care from caregivers at CNS Home Health and Hospice. Memorials in his name to the CNS Home Health and Hospice, 690 E. North Ave., #100, Carol Stream, IL 60188, would be appreciated.
