Elizabeth Cornacchione

Elizabeth Cornacchione, nee Kosturick, age 87, of Lombard, formerly of Cicero, passed away on Tuesday, Feb.10, 2015.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 13, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Church. Interment followed at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Ill.

Constance Downes
Constance Downes, age 94, of Lombard, died Sunday, Feb. 15, at Lexington of Lombard.
Memorial visitation and service will be held Friday, Feb. 20, from 2 p.m. to service at 4 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment is private.

Joyce Edison Fraser

Joyce Edison Fraser died Feb. 9, 2015. She was born April 20, 1915, in Cicero, Ill., to Frank and Anna Novak. She died peacefully in her sleep at Delnor Glen Assisted Living in St. Charles. She was a month-and-a-half short of her goal of reaching age 100. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen McNulty (Terry) of Schaumburg, and son Norman Edison (Carol) of Indianapolis, Ind.; three granddaughters; two great grandsons; and four great granddaughters.
Joyce was part of that “greatest generation” who contributed to the WW II effort and then raised a family in Lombard in the 1950s and 1960s. She was married to Roland Edison until his death in 1970 and later married to Wilbur Fraser, also of Lombard, until his death in 2006. Besides being a wife and mother, she often worked part-time as a secretarial assistant, riding the Northwestern downtown, and she found time to participate in Girl Scouts with her daughter and attended seven seasons of Lombard Boys League games.
Funeral services will be at a later date and private. Her final resting place will be Acacia Park Cemetery.

Margaret Gehrs

Margaret “Marge” Gehrs, nee Ahrens, age 90, lifelong resident of Lombard, died Feb. 15 at Beacon Hill, Lombard, Ill.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 19, from 3-8 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral Service will be held Friday with Mrs. Gehrs Lying-In-State from 10 a.m. to time of Service at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran York Church, York Center. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Gehrs is survived by her stepdaughter, Pauline A. of Tennessee; her son-in-law, Paul Howland; six grandchildren, Dr. Bradley, M.D. (Mary Anne) Gehrs of Oklahoma, Dr. Melinda (Heath Beaver) Gehrs, M.D. of Colorado, Kellie Gatz of Tennessee, Michael (Rachel) Howland of Michigan, Matthew Howland of Melrose Park, and Joshua Howland of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Nate, Ben, Alex, and Ashley; and many other relatives.
Mrs. Gehrs is preceded in death by her husband, Carl J.; her daughter, Kimberly Howland; and her stepson, Dr. Carl W. Gehrs.
Mrs. Gehrs was a lifelong resident of Lombard. She was a graduate of Trinity York Center Grade School and York High School in Elmhurst. She had been married for over 40 years to the late Carl J. who had been Principal and Pastoral Assistant at Trinity Lutheran. Mrs. Gehrs was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, York Center, where she had sung in the choir, taught Sunday School and been a member of the Ladies’ Aid. She was born on the Ahrens family farm in Lombard and Ahrens Street is named after her family.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church and School would be appreciated.

Theresa M. Grabenhofer

Theresa Marie Grabenhofer, nee Strommer, age 91, of Lombard, died Sunday, Feb. 15, at Alden Valley Ridge, Bloomingdale, Ill.

Darlene F. Kolodz

Darlene F. Kolodz, age 61, of Naperville. Formerly of Lombard, was born on April 18, 1953, in Elmhurst to Hertha and Chester Kolodz. She passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2015, after a battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Liver Failure.
She is the adoring mother of Jennifer (Joe) Micek and Jeff (Kate) Eagan. Blessed grandmother of Brady, Joey Micek and her granddaughters. Proud sister of Donald (Belinda) Kolodz. Caring aunt of Shannon, Brett, Scott and the late Dustin. Loving great aunt of Vivika.
Darlene has long been considered an extended member of the Micek family and has made many loving friends at her job with Harbor Light Hospice. She will be dearly missed.
Family and friends to gather Friday, Feb. 20, for memorial visitation 3 p.m. until time of memorial service 6 p.m. at DuPage Memorial Chapel, 951 W. Washington St., West Chicago.

Emily Catherine Lederer, nee Baron, age 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb.12, 2015.

Margaret Grace Maas, age 95, of Elmhurst, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 13, 2015.

Richard E. Nelson

Richard E. Nelson, 77, a resident of Lombard for 47 years. Beloved husband of S. Jean, nee Reardanz; loving father of Kristin (Sam) Odeh, Cynthia, Daniel (Linda), Rick, and Matthew (Tracy) Nelson; devoted grandfather of Brett Nelson, Cody and Riley Kromeich, Nicholas and Brandon Odeh, and Zachary, Haley, Joshua, Tyler, Ben, Bailey, Hannah, Casey, Shane, Keira, and Luke Nelson.
Mr. Nelson was a commissioner, player agent and manager of the Lombard Baseball League. He was a coach in the Lombard football league, a scoutmaster of Pack #240, and served on the Village of Lombard Plan Commission for five years under Bill Mueller.
Mr. Nelson enjoyed bowling, golf and the Bears, and was a lifelong Cubs fan. He and Jean were world travelers, including 40 countries, in their retirement.

Janet E. Rosenwinkel, nee Goldbach, age 88, of Yorkville, formerly of Addison, died Friday, Feb. 13, at Seasons Hospice in Naperville.

Betty J. Stoeckel

Betty J. Stoeckel, nee Foster, age 90, of Lombard, died Feb. 16 at her home.

Mrs. Stoeckel is survived by four children, Jan (Rick) Anderson of Villa Park, John (Ruth) of Minnesota, Judy (Larry) Lay of Villa Park, and Jim (Amy) of Dixon, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Mark (Danielle) Anderson of Cary, Julie (Steve) Kulovits of Glen Ellyn, Marta (Tim) Rogers of Minnesota, Kate (Fiancé Justin Stamschroc) of Washington, Josie Stoeckel of Minnesota, Christy (Josh) Parise of Wisconsin, John (Maggie) Lay of Plainfield, Dan Stoeckel of Illinois, David (Tanya Hay) Stoeckel of Illinois; three step-grandchildren, Alex, Spencer Leatherman, and A.J. Conwell of Illinois; eight great-grandchildren, Ricky and Johnny Anderson, Ryan Kulovits, Jack, Evan and Isabelle Parise, Ellie and Tessa Lay; and many other relatives.
Mrs. Stoeckel is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph J.
Mrs. Stoeckel was a resident of Lombard since 1956. She was a graduate of Parker High School in Chicago. Mrs. Stoeckel had retired as a Sales Clerk from Penney’s Department Store. She was an active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she had been a volunteer, especially for the school library.

Leona “Lee” Stefanski, age 83, of Glendale Heights, Ill., and Lombard, Ill., passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, in Elmhurst, Ill.
