Eleanore M. Bednarowicz, nee Markiewicz, age 89, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst, Ill.

Eileen Joan Conoboy

Mieczyslaw Fret

Mieczyslaw “Mitch” Fret, U.S. Army veteran, age 80, of Lombard, passed away Jan. 17 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
The Funeral Service will be held today, Jan. 21, with 9:15 a.m. prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to St. John the Apostle Church, 330 N. Westmore Ave., Villa Park, for a 10 a.m. Mass. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Fret is survived by his wife, Michelle, nee Bazdor; his children, Veronica Mazzuca of Glen Ellyn and Greg (Christine) of Streamwood; his grandchildren, Eddie, Taylor, and Jessica; and his great-grandchild, Ellie.
He was preceded in death by one sister and his son-in-law, Edward Mazzuca.
Mr. Fret had been a resident of Lombard for 37 years. He was a member of St. John the Apostle Church and a former member of St. Pius X Church. He was retired from General Motors where he worked as a Tool & Die maker and was a member of the UAW.

Rudolph J. Fritz, age 93, World War II and Korean veteran, died Jan. 15 at Tabor Hills Health Care Facility, Naperville, Ill.

Herman Arno Milas

Herman Arno Milas, age 83, of Villa Park, formerly of Lombard and Forest Park, Korean War veteran, died Jan. 16 at La Grange Memorial Hospital.
Beloved husband of Sheila. Loving father of Martin (KrisAnn), Matthew, and Michelle (Chris) Nuzzo. Cherished grandfather of Calvin, Cody, Hanna, Nathan and Travis. Dear brother of Evelyn (Bill) Colman, Arlene (Richard) Hocking.
Preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Helen (Kuk).
Visitation will be today, Jan. 21, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Herman will be lying-in-state on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lombard. Interment local.
Herm loved photography and made his dream come true when he opened Milas Studio on Madison Street in River Forest in 1955. He was an avid bowler throughout his life and for many years played on, and sponsored, softball teams. Herm was very involved in the Lions Club and served as President for several years.

Greg Owens

Greg Owens, age 57, of Elmhurst, died suddenly Jan. 18 at his home.
Visitation and Funeral Service will be held Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Maple Street Chapel, Maple and Main Streets, Lombard, with Visitation from 9:30 a.m. to time of Service at 10 a.m.
Entombment is Private at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Ill.
Mr. Owens is survived by his brother, Steve (Theresa) of Hinsdale; and his nieces, Michelle and Robin Owens of Hinsdale. Greg is preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucy Owens of Lombard.
Greg grew up in Lombard. He had attended Green Valley Grade School and Lombard Jr. High. Greg was a 1977 graduate of Glenbard East High School. Greg had worked for Jewel for over 30 years. He was a resident of Elmhurst for 15 years.

Susan M. Reedy

Susan M. Reedy, age 61, of Lombard, died Jan. 7, 2015, at home of complications from melanoma.

Ms. Reedy is survived by her husband, Thomas W. Schatzeder; her five children, Timothy, Michael, Gregory, Daniel and Kenneth (Dyanne); her mother, Virginia G. Reedy; her siblings, Kathleen Drinkwater, MaryEllen Reedy, John Reedy, Daniel Reedy, Barbara Booth, and Marge McLaughlin; 17 nieces and nephews; and one grand-niece and two grand-nephews.
Ms. Reedy is preceded in death by her father, John S. Reedy; and her sister, Rosemary Reedy.
A resident of Lombard for 36 years, Ms. Reedy was involved as a volunteer parent, then a teacher at the Co-operative Nursery School at the First Church of Lombard for 30 years. She and her husband raised monarch and black swallowtail butterflies every summer to release into the wild.
