Rita Irene Benson

Rita Irene (Puhl) Benson, age 89, of Hart, MI, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015. She was born Jan. 21, 1926, in Minneapolis, MN, to Nicholas and Mary (Holtzinger) Puhl. She graduated from Our Lady of Sorrows High School in Ladysmith, WI, and was a graduate of the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Marshfield, WI.
On Oct. 4, 1946, Rita married Henry Benson at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls, WI. Rita was employed as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and also worked during her nursing career at the Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, IL, as a private duty nurse in Lombard, IL, and as a custodian for District 88 High School in Illinois.
She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Villa Park, IL. Rita was a devoted mother, caregiver, patriot and community health worker. She was also a nurse in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps.
Rita is survived by three daughters, Annette (Richard) Janes II of Hart, MI, Janet Benson of Villa Park, IL, and Rosemary (Robert) Baines of Seattle, WA; one son, William Benson of Hart, MI; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Chris) Davis of Rockford, MI, Richard (Tanya) Janes III of Brutus, MI, Adam Baines of Seattle, WA, and Christopher Baines of Seattle, WA; and four great-grandchildren, Cierra Davis, Alayna Davis, Haden Janes and Lyla Janes. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Henry Benson; two sons, Charles Benson, and John Benson; sister, Rosella Ringger; and two brothers, Willard Puhl and Lucias Puhl.
The Funeral Service for Mrs. Benson was Friday, May 29, 2015, at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Hart, MI, with Father Thomas Bolster officiating. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.

Barry A. Giersch

Barry A. Giersch, age 64, of Lombard, died on Memorial Day, May 25. at Alden Valley Ridge, Bloomingdale, Ill.
Private Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill.
Mr. Giersch is survived by his wife, Theresa L., nee Colucci; his son, Joshua (Kristen); his grandchildren, Mia and Aiden; his brother, Bruce (Tami); his sister, Carla (Kevin) Tonk; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his very dear friends, John and Angie Hill.
Mr. Giersch is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin A. and Dorothy A., nee Sarnecki, Giersch; and his sister, Paula.
Mr. Giersch was a Corporal Marine Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War as a radio operator. He was a member of VFW #5815.

Jane E. Jelinek

Jane E. Jelinek, age 60, of Chicago, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, June 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 1025 E. Madison St., Lombard. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 200 W. Romeo Road, Romeoville, Ill..

Patricia J. Martin

Patricia J. Martin, age 65, of Lombard, died May 29 at Loyola Hospital.
Funeral prayers will be today, June 3, at 10 a.m. from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St, Lombard, for 10:30 a.m. Mass. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Ms. Martin is survived by her siblings, William J. Jr. (Vivian), Walter James, Michael (Barbara) of Lombard, Elizabeth Dooley, Thomas (Susan), and Margaret (David) Green. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews from whom she loved getting hugs. She was preceded in death by her parents, William. J. Sr. and Marcella M., nee Leonard.
Ms. Martin was a lifelong resident of Lombard. She was a retired 30-year employee of AT&T.
