Visitation will be Wednesday, May 13, from 4-8 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard, Ill. Funeral Services will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at Calvary Church, 105 W. Maple Lombard, Ill. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.
Ken was the beloved husband of Patti (Carroll) Grobe; loving father to Larry Grobe, Susan Batrich, Kristen Mahoney (David), Robin Tipton (Shane), Bill Trimarco (Beatriz), Crystal Ariola (James), and Andy Trimarco (Sandy). Doting grandfather to Kyla, Shea, Taelor, Liam, Maria, Diego, Ricardo, Mary Grace, Angelina, Gia, Colton, Vincent, Jovonna, and Lincoln. Brother to William (Rita) Grobe and Karen (Dick Kochanski) Wilcox. Uncle and Great Uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews.
Ken was born Aug. 29, 1941, in Elmhurst, Ill., and lived most of his life in Villa Park and Lombard. Ken was Mr. Illinois in 1972, a historical interpreter for the fur trade era (think Mountain Man), and an avid Harley rider. Ken was the “cute” butcher at Mr. Z’s for over 30 years until he suffered a devastating stroke in 2000.
No longer able to ride his beloved Harley, the thrill of his life after the stroke was horseback riding at Hanson Barn. His 14 grandchildren and 2 dogs extended his life almost 15 years—we thank God for those extra years with Papa Ken.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the “Bring Lincoln Home Fund” in care of Lincoln Trimarco, who is Papa Ken’s youngest grandchild in the NICU at Loyola Hospital.
