Susan Ellen Benson

Susan Ellen Benson (nee Miller), 55, of Lombard, died on Friday, May 8.
Her husband, Don, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Jeremy Miller (Tonya Bouton); granddaughter, Sabrina; her parents, Al and Arlene Miller; her brother, Scott (Julie) Miller; and nephews, Eric and Kevin Miller.
Sue previously worked at Marianjoy in Wheaton and also worked as a waitress, part-time, in local restaurants. Her greatest joy was working at the Deicke Home where she dearly loved all the residents.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 22, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard.

Genevieve M. Bidar

Genevieve M. Bidar, nee Grzeda, age 64, of Villa Park, died May 10 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst, Ill.

Steven P. Cascio, 58, of Villa Park, Ill., passed away on April 8, 2015.

Edward E. Golonsbe

Edward E. Golonsbe, age 98, WWII Vet, a 68-year resident of Lombard, passed away at GlenOaks Hospital on May 14.
The funeral service was Monday, May 18, with Mr. Golonsbe at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 350 E. Madison, Lombard. Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights, Ill.
Mr. Golonsbe is survived by his son, Randall E.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his son-in-law, Randy Rector.
Mr. Golonsbe is preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; his daughter, Linda Rector; and his sister, Alice Franzen.
Mr. Golonsbe had lived in Lombard since 1957. He graduated from Steinmetz High School in Chicago. Mr. Golonsbe was with the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was married for 63 years. Mr. Golonsbe retired from Circuit Systems in Addison. He used to enjoy going to Gulf Shores, Alabama, during the winter months. Mr. Golonsbe was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Frederick Charles Haack, 87, of Lombard. Beloved husband of Shirley, nee Fraser. Loving father of Ilene Kasper and the late Dave and Cheryl Haack. Devoted grandfather of Kimberly Haack and Kayla Kasper. Brother and uncle of many. Charter Member of Faith United Methodist Church. Army WWII Vet.
Lying in State today, Wednesday, May 20, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 815 S. Finley Road, Lombard, IL 60148. Interment: Mt. Emblem Cemetery.

Vera Anne Knapp

Vera Anne Knapp, 72, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, losing her long battle against cancer.
Through her great love of children, she enjoyed her several years of teaching; and established the Human Relations Youth Adventure Camp, serving youth for 15 years. After retirement, she tutored dyslexic children in her home. She loved reading and Nature in all its beauty and how they fed her spirit.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenny (Scott) Franz; grandchildren, Ryan and Lucy Franz; and sisters, Virginia Mumaw and Marilyn Higgins. She was preceded in death by her son, Ryan.
A memorial gathering will be held at First Church of Lombard from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, followed by a celebration-of-life service at 5 p.m.
