William ‘Bill’ Barbick

William “Bill” Barbick, age 89, of Lisle, formerly of Lombard, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Brookdale Senior Living.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. until the time of prayers at 11 a.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth S., Lombard, for 11:30 a.m. Mass. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery

Marie Adeline Carver

Marie Adeline Carver, nee Mayr, entered into rest Oct. 5, 2015. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chester Leo Carver; and her parents, Julius S. and Katherine Mayr. She is survived by her children, Howard L. (Sue), Ruth J. (Steve) Eckhardt, Dale A. (Nancy) and Karen A. Fouts; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Marie loved dancing, especially square dancing and the polka. She was walking proof it didn’t take a million bucks to look great, putting together coordinated outfits (including jewelry and shoes) like nobody’s business! No matter if it was retail, resale or on sale she always looked fantastic. Having a natural flair for merchandising, Marie devoted herself to various charitable causes, donating time to local resale shops including the Second Time Around at Eastgate and Square Deal at Lexington Square.
Gathering Thursday, Oct. 22, 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1501 S. Main St., Lombard. Memorial Mass 10:30 a.m. Interment private.

Rita M. Green

Rita M. Green, age 79, of Plainfield, Ill., passed away on Oct. 3, 2015.

Joseph F. ‘Rip’ Hribik

Joseph F. “Rip” Hribik, age 88, of Lombard, World War II Naval Air Corps Veteran, died Oct. 3 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst, Ill.
Funeral services will be today, Oct. 7, with prayers at 9:30 a.m. from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard, for 10 a.m. Mass. Interment is private at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, Ill.
Mr. Hribik is survived by his wife, LaVerne, nee Dewey; his son, Thomas (Cheri) of Belvidere, Ill.; his daughter, Karen Stubbe of Waterloo, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jason (Shari) Stubbe, Jessica (Mike) Roman, Brandy Hribik, Sara Hribik and Daniel (Gina) Hribik; his great-grandson, Garrett Roman; two brothers, Frank (Shirley) and Louis (Rose); two sisters, Rita Gearing and Anne Gurski; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hribik was preceded in death by his sister, Mary (the late John) Prazanica; and his brothers-in-law, Herman Gearing and Chet Gurski.
Mr. Hribik was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of Elmhurst College. Mr. Hribik had retired from Automatic Electric in Northlake. He had been a Lombard Girls Softball Coach. Mr. Hribik was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member of the Lombard Moose and also the Jednota (Slovakia) organization.

Morrow B. Kaliski

Morrow B. Kaliski, age 75, of Villa Park, Ill. Beloved wife of Stanley, loving mother of Stanley Steven (Lisa) and David Joseph (Kimberlee), dearest grandmother of Haylee and Ian, dear sister of Margaret McBride and Steven (Linda) Byers, fond aunt of many.

Gerald Lavengood

Gerald Lavengood, 71, passed away peacefully Sept. 17, 2015, in Wheaton, Ill., from complications of diabetes, dementia and Parkinson’s disease. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Adeline (Miller) Lavengood; his brother, Miller Lavengood; and his niece, Connie Lavengood. Gerry is survived by his sister-in-law, Kathleen Lavengood; Uncle George Tugana (Dorothy); nephews, Kenneth (Mary) and Keith Lavengood; and niece, Carrie (Michael) Rich.
Gerry was a lifelong resident of Villa Park, Ill. He graduated from Elmhurst College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and then completed his Pharmacy Degree at the University of Illinois. Gerry was the head pharmacist at K-Mart in Lombard, Ill., for over 35 years. He was active in the DuPage Pharmacist’s Association and the local Villa Park Lion’s Club.
Outside of his professional life, he loved to travel and enjoyed visiting new cities. He loved playing golf, was naturally drawn to railroad history and loved spending time with family and friends. Gerry will always be remembered for his generosity, kind heart, extensive knowledge and sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.
Gerry was laid to rest at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., next to his parents.

Virginia Ann Seiler

Virginia Ann Seiler, nee Stelter, age 85, of Lombard, died Oct. 5 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, Ill.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 8, 2-8 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be Friday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard, lying in state from 9 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m.
Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.
Mrs. Seiler is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Jeff) Rueffer of Batavia; her son, Scott (Sarah) of Boston; three grandchildren, Katie Rueffer of Batavia, Michael Rueffer of Batavia and Samantha Seiler of Boston; three sisters, Laverne Smith of Lombard, Emily Bonette of California and Audrey (Tony) Cooper of California; her sisters-in-law, Betty Stelter of Wisconsin and Irma Stelter of Lombard; her former husband and friend, Don Seiler of Crystal Lake; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mrs. Seiler was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Leonard; and her sister, Marlene Troyke.
Mrs. Seiler was a lifelong resident of Lombard. She was a 1948 graduate of Glenbard West High School. She was an avid gardener. Mrs. Seiler was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard, where she had been both baptized and confirmed. She was a graduate of St. John’s grade school. Mrs. Seiler was a former member of the Dorcas Guild at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had been a very active member, volunteering for all the children’s events and had been a Sunday School Teacher.
Memorials to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.

Joseph R. Sifcak

Joseph R. Sifcak, age 82, of Bloomingdale, formerly of Lombard, died Oct. 4, at his home.
Visitation will be held today, Oct. 7, from 3-9 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, with prayers at 10 a.m. from Brust Funeral Home to Christ the King Church, Lombard, for 10:30 a.m. Mass. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Ill.
Mr. Sifcak is survived by three children, Joseph M. (Sandra) of Bloomingdale, Judith A. (Glenn) Buchdahl of Bloomingdale and Jacqueline M. (Michael) Caruso of Lombard; eight grandchildren, Michael J. (Aneta) Sifcak of Idaho, Ryan T. Sifcak of Bloomingdale, Denise M. (Jermaine) Young of Bloomingdale, David A. (Maggie) Buchdahl of Lombard, William G. Buchdahl of Chicago, Daniel M. Caruso of Wheaton, Larry M. Caruso of Lombard and Samantha J. Caruso of Lombard; five great-grandchildren, Jayden Young, Lucas Buchdahl, Liam Young, Hazel Sifcak and Elise Buchdahl; and his sister, Mary Simpson of Nebraska. Mr. Sifcak was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce A.; and his son, Thomas Joseph Sifcak.
Mr. Sifcak was a resident of Bloomingdale 21 years and was formerly of Lombard 38 years. He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He served on Minesweeper MS0434 off Korea. Mr. Sifcak was a former member of the American Legion. He had worked 47 years for United Conveyer Corporation in Melrose Park. Mr. Sifcak was an avid golfer, fisherman, poker player and hunter. He was handy and very good at construction. Mr. Sifcak had helped to build the Lombard Park District Log Cabin.
Memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, would be appreciated.

Norma Jean Witting, nee Martin, 76, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Lombard, Ill.
Beloved wife of the late Robert W. Loving mother of Bea Hangzis, Karen (Chuck) Pickerill, Randy Witting and Kathy (Gary) Nolet. Dear grandmother of 15, great grandmother of seven. Fond sister of Randy Epps, Candy (Skip) Gorman, Ray (Linda) Martin, the late Patsy (Edward), Bryant and Flossy (Frank) Ward. Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.
