Elizabeth Marietta Fry
Elizabeth Marietta Fry (Froehlke), born Aug. 11, 1933, passed away on March 10, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Charles Fry. She is survived by her children, Electra Weyker (Robert), Konrad, Kurt, Elise Kedzuch (John) and Karl; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth, a devoted Christian wife and mother, was born in Oshkosh, Wis. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
A longtime resident of Lombard, Ill., she worked for West Suburban Bank, retiring in 2002 after 24 years.
As Picture Lady for schools in Illinois and as a docent for the Oshkosh Public Museum in Wisconsin, she was able to share her love of art and history with many. As a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), she chaired a number of their Used-Book Sales and became an avid bridge player. And as a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church’s Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society (LWMS), she chaired their 2001 National Convention.
She enjoyed doing genealogy research. Whether it was with family, to visit family or to learn about family, Elizabeth loved to travel and loved her family.
Her memorial service will be held on April 16, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 525 63rd St., Downers Grove, Ill. 630-852-1519.
James Gilmore
Visitation for James “Jim” Gilmore, 71, of Lombard, will be held today, April 13, 3-9 p.m. at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.

Wallace M. Johnson
Wallace M. “Wally” Johnson, age 86, of Lombard, died March 15 at Atria Senior Living, Glen Ellyn, Ill.
Beloved husband of the late Hazel. Loving father of Karen (Steve) Musser of Lombard and Sharon (Ron) Binder of Lisle. Loving grandfather of Terra (Mike) Maher of Lisle, Megan (Chad) Martinez of Oswego and Jaclyn Musser of Wheaton. Great-grandfather of Ava and Maci Martinez, Kimber and Colt Maher. Dear brother of Roy Johnson of Washington state, Joanne Johnson of Rockford, Kathleen (Pete) Witynski of Freeport and the late Frank, Lloydie and Baby Boy Johnson. Brother-in-law of Russell (Edna) Luckow of Appleton, Wis.
Mr. Johnson was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, father-in-law and neighbor. He was a resident of Lombard since 1955 and was the Senior of the Year in 2014. He was a veteran, having served in the 101st Airborne Veteran Paratroops during the Korean War. Wally left high school to go to work and married Hazel Luckow on July 18, 1955, in Florence, Wis. They came to Lombard 61 years ago and he worked at the gas station at Main and St. Charles in Lombard.
He worked for the Manheim Lumber Company in Franklin Park for 29 years and worked for Des Plaines Lumber until age 65 in 1994. He had many skills and talents and was very handy. Wally was a carpenter, plumber, mechanic, locksmith and vacuum cleaner repairman. Wally would put all the neighbors’ newspapers on their front porch and often walked his neighbors’ dogs. He also shoveled his neighbors’ driveways. Wally enjoyed building birdhouses, gardening and baking brownies as well.
Memorial Gathering and Service will be held Saturday, April 16, with visitation from noon to time of Service at 5 p.m.at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Friends of York Township Senior Nutrition Program, 1508 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.

Meribeth Fyler Jones
Meribeth Fyler Jones, born 2-16-1941, passed away quietly at home on 3-30-2016 after a long battle with cancer. She was the daughter of George and Helen (nee Slade) Fyler of Lombard, Ill.
Ms. Jones was a longtime high school English teacher at Glenbard East High School in Lombard, Ill. She loved to travel, read, quilt and mostly loved her cats. When she was younger, she was an avid horseman.
She was an only child, but will be dearly missed by all who came to love her, especially Elizabeth (Betsi), Tod, Emily and Hannah Waldron of Elgin, Ill., who she considered family.

Thaddeus W. Opal
Thaddeus “Thad” W. Opal, age 101, of Beacon Hill Retirement Community, Lombard, formerly of Edison Park and Arlington Heights, passed away Sunday, April 10.

Albert E. Riehlr
Albert E. Riehlr, 73, of Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., passed away on Thursday, April 7.

John E. Tingler
Former resident of Lombard and Villa Park John Tingler passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on March 28, 2016, at a nursing home in Colorado. He was 89 years of age.
Prior to moving to the nursing home he resided with his eldest son and wife in Colorado. Before moving to Colorado, John resided in DuPage County for almost half a century. During this time he was a faithful parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard.
John was born on June 20, 1926, to John and Adelaide (Koebele) Tingler in Chicago. He spent his childhood in Chicago and graduated from St. Ignatius High School with the class of 1944. After graduation, John served his country in the United States Army, receiving two bronze battle stars while in the Philippines. Most of the combat he participated in was on the island of Cebu but he also fought on Negros and Leyte.
John owned a retail wall covering store in Villa Park. John was a jack of all trades: plumbing, electric, flooring and carpentry. He moved to Cedaredge, Colo., from Lombard nine years ago. In Colorado, John was a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, where he was loved and treated as family.
John is survived by his three sons and a daughter: Mark (Cynthia) Tingler, Karen (Lance) Neville, Stephen Tingler and Timothy (Sue) Tingler, as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private family interment took place at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.
