Mary Anne Brown

 

Mary Anne “Annie” Brown, nee Logothetti, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, at Alexian Brothers Hospice House.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 26, from 4-9 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, with Mrs. Brown lying in state from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard. Interment will follow at Union Ridge Cemetery in Chicago.

Patrick Edward Cain

 

Patrick Edward Cain, 86, formerly of Villa Park, Ill., passed away on July 29 in Florida.

Funeral services for Verna M. Calcese, nee Vreeland, age 92, of Lombard 49 years, were held Monday, Aug. 22, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

William H. Counts

 

William H. Counts, age 99, of Lombard, passed away on Friday, Aug. 19, at DuPage Convalescent Center.

His interment was held Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Eden Cemetery in Schiller Park.

Frank F. Grass

 

Frank F. Grass, 93, of Naperville, Ill., formerly of Lombard, Ill., and Henderson, Tennessee, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016. Private memorial luncheon will be held on Sept. 11. 

Mr. Grass was born on Aug. 15, 1922, in Chicago, lll.  Son of Frank J. and Madelaine S. (Spence) Grass. He married Josephine T. Sandusky in May 1944 in Chicago, lll. She preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 1984, after 40 years of marriage. He married Mary Jo Spence in September 1987 in Addison, Ill. She preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 2013, after 26 years of marriage. Surviving are his two children, David Grass, wife Victoria, of Lombard, Ill., and Debra (Eugene) Shipp of Henderson; two grandchildren, Kristen (Jeff) Kilsdonk and Amanda Ellingwood; and one great-granddaughter, Kayla Ellingwood. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister; and two sons, Frank and John.

Frank was a retired employee of Western Electric after 40 years of service. He enjoyed camping from tent all the way to trailer and to motor home style. He traveled to 49 of our 50 states, and belonged to the Holiday Ramblers and Pioneer Telephone camping clubs. He and Josephine built their home in Lombard from 1949 to 2001. He spent his retirement days in Henderson.

 

Irene Heimbecker

 

Irene Heimbecker, beloved wife of the late Earnest C.; loving mother of Earnest P. (Donna), Susan Urbik, Gary S. (Anne) and the late Patricia Heimbecker; grandmother of five and great-grandmother of many; step-sister of the late Sophie (Carl) Forsberg; fond aunt of the Manke family.

Visitation today, Aug. 25, 3-9 p.m. and funeral service Friday, Aug. 26, 1:30 p.m. at Hursen Funeral Home, SW corner of Mannheim & Roosevelt Roads, Hillside/Westchester. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Peggy Q. Kivioja

 

Peggy Q. Kivioja (nee Quinn) of Baraboo, Wis., died Aug. 18, 2016, in her home at Oak Park Place.

Peggy was born in 1933 in Columbus, Ohio, to Thomas and Katherine Quinn. She attended The Ohio State University where she met her husband Olaf. They were married in 1954. Peggy and Olaf moved to Villa Park, Ill., in 1963 where they raised their three children. They moved to Baraboo in 2000 to be closer to their Wisconsin family.

After moving to Baraboo, Peggy and Olaf became active members of their community. Peggy was a volunteer at the Circus World Museum, St. Claire Meadows and the Baraboo Food Pantry. Peggy worked for a few years in the photo department of the Baraboo Walmart. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella of St. Joseph Catholic Church as well as a member of the Sauk County Writers’ Club. Peggy was a proud Irish lady who was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and a faithful fan of the Chicago Cubs.

Peggy is survived by her three children and two grandchildren, Julie (Michael) Rogers of Sauk City, Wisconsin, Thomas of Spokane, Washington, Lisa (Steve) Kaliski of Ferguson, Mo., and grandsons Charles and James Arndt of Sauk City. Peggy is also survived by her dear cousin, Mary Rita Pierson of Toledo, Ohio; sister-in-law, Ivi (Sandor) Karady of Mountainside, New Jersey; brother-in-law, Juri (Deb) Ilves of Groveport, Ohio; special friends, who became family, including Quentin (Joyce) Questel; Larry Doyle; Inge Timmerman and family; Marilyn Montag; Shelley (Rich) Worth; Jenny Ellie; and beloved canine friend, Angel. Dear friend and aunt to many.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Olaf; parents, Thomas and Katherine Quinn; brothers, Thomas Jr. (Rita) and Robert; dear friend, Arlene Doyle; in-laws, Harald Kivioja and Julia Kivioja Ilves and John Ilves; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baraboo. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service. Luncheon will be held following the service. The Daughters of Isabella will pray the rosary on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at 4 p.m. at church in Peggy's memory.

Private interment in Columbus, Ohio, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sauk County Humane Society or charity of choice.
