Robert P. Cardott Sr.

 

Robert P. Cardott Sr., age 74, of Villa Park. Beloved husband of Phyllis Cardott, nee Fredericks; loving father of Bob (Missy) Cardott Jr., Cheryl (Brian) Gould; devoted grandfather of Brittany (Alec) Palmer, Benjamin, Bradley, Brenden Cardott; brother of Donna Dixon; uncle of many nieces and nephews; Oakbrook Terrace firefighter for 43 years and proud Army veteran.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, or Arthritis Foundation, are appreciated.

Roberta S. Foss

 

Roberta S. Foss, nee Sieglinger, was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Chicago, Ill. She passed away on Nov. 20, 2016, in Lombard.

Roberta is the beloved wife of the late Leonard. Loving mother of Deborah (Danny David) Foss, Rebecca  (Carter Boggus) and Wendy Woolard. Beloved daughter of the late Frances and Robert. Proud grandmother of eight. Sister of Shelly, Allen and the late James.

William N. Mackey

 

William N. Mackey, age 91, of Glendale Heights, formerly of Lombard, passed away Dec. 2, 2016.

A graveside service was held Monday at 10 a.m. at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien.

Mr. Mackey is survived by his wife, Ina, nee Engelsman; his daughters, Kathy Mackey and Laura Lorusso; his son, William; his grandchildren, Jenny (Mario) and Scottie; and his great-grandchildren, Dominick and Marissa. Mr. Mackey was preceded in death by his two sons, Larry and Dick.

Mr. Mackey was a resident of Lombard for over 75 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, Atlantic and Pacific, having served on the USS Winooski as an Electrician’s Mate. Mr. Mackey was a longtime volunteer for the Lombard Fire Department. He worked as an electrician until his retirement.

Roger Nyberg

 

Roger Nyberg died recently, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. Roger’s positive and grateful spirit was an inspiration to family and friends. Roger will be remembered by Judy, his wife of 53 years; his supportive children, Kimberly Fry and husband, Chris, and Christian Nyberg, and wife Jeanette; and his fantastic grandchildren, Annie, Erik, Fen, and Beckett Nyberg and Chloe Marie Fry.

Roger was graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, and received his MA is Speech Pathology from Boston University. He also did graduate work at University of Illinois, Champaign. After practicing as a speech and language therapist, Roger joined the faculty at Augustana College, teaching in the Speech Department. After moving to the Chicago area, Roger worked with Easter Seals and Thrivent Financial, as a financial associate and fraternal counselor.

Roger loved singing! He was always a member of his church choir, wherever he lived, most recently a 37 year member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lombard, Illinois. He was a fifty-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, winning a gold medal with the Westowns Chorus as Illinois champions, and singing with the Gaslight Gang quartet at shows throughout the country. Roger recently joined the Village Voices chorus in Downers Grove, experiencing a new dimension in singing.

Besides his love of music and singing, Roger’s life was enriched by years of travel throughout the U.S. and the world with his wife, Judy. Roger was fortunate to have a loving family and an array of loyal chorus and church friends. He was a fortunate man, grateful for a wonderful family, supportive friends, and opportunities to enjoy all that life had to offer.

A Celebration of Life musical service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 350 E. Madison St., Lombard, Illinois, on Saturday, December 17th, at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, ELCA, Lombard, Illinois.

 

Phyllis J. Rueffer

 

Phyllis J. Rueffer, nee Mason, age 89, of Lombard. Beloved wife of the late Raymond; loving mother of Karen (the late John) Danuser, Ken (Velta) Rueffer and Jeff (Cindy) Rueffer; devoted grandmother of Kim (Chris) Vaughn, Brian (fiancée Megan) Rueffer, Eric Rueffer, Laurie (Brian) Lanners, Katie Rueffer, Michael Rueffer and the late Kristopher Rueffer; great-grandmother of Tyler (Heather) Vaughn, Taylor Vaughn, Joshua Lanners and Lila Lanners; great-great-grandmother of Lexi and Kinslee Vaughn; fond sister of Elaine Mason, the late Edward Barber and the late Jean Long; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 5, at St. John Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln St., Lombard. Interment Elm Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials in memory of Phyllis’ grandson Kris to St. John Lutheran School Alumni Fund, 220 S. Lincoln St., Lombard, IL 60148, are appreciated.

Bernice E. Zielske

 

Bernice E. Zielske, nee Birr, age 92, lifelong resident of Lombard, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 5, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment followed at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
