Gloria J. Colandrea, nee Marcum, age 66, of Lombard for 46 years, died July 1 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, July 6, 11 a.m., at Brust Funeral Home. Interment was private.

A memorial service for Ilamay Dunk, nee Adams, of Oak Brook, Ill., formerly of Villa Park, Ill., was held  Sunday, July 10, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, IIl.

 

James M. Dyckma

 

James M. Dyckma Sr. of Villa Park, Ill., passed away on Thursday, July 7.

A memorial visitation was held Tuesday, July 12, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, Ill.

Inurnment is at a future date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

 

Ernest P. Frindt

 

Ernest P. Frindt, 65, of Addison, Ill., passed away on Monday, July 4.

The memorial visitation is Saturday, July 16,  9 a.m. until service time, 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, Ill.

Gerald Gordon Holton

 

Gerald Gordon Holton, age 90 from Lombard, Ill., passed away Sunday, June 12.

He was born to Samuel and Bertha Holton on April 27, 1926, in Ferndale Mich. He was the youngest of three sons.

Following HS graduation, he joined the Air Corps. In 1945 he met and married Nadia Ann Janda (Madison, Wis.), his wife of over 70 years.

After discharge from the Air Corps he went to the University of Wisconsin and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Following graduation he worked for Burroughs Corp for 38 years, until his retirement.

Jerry had a strong faith, and served faithfully in the church and was active in the Ecumenical Cursillo movement along with many other civic activities. His favorite hobby was gardening. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, sailing and scuba diving.

His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with Nicki and their family, with many a gathering in the backyard at his home of 45 years, 412 Hillcrest Lane in Lombard, lovingly known as the “Holton Haven.”

Jerry is survived by his wife, Nadia (Nicki), whom he married in 1945; his children, Gerald Jr. (Jerry), Barbara, Jeffrey (Jeff), Nadia, Carol and Margery (Marnie); 20 grandchildren; and 33 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Beacon Hill Senior Living Center, 2400 S. Finley Road in Lombard on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m.

 

Lisa J. Johnson

 

Lisa J. Johnson, age 51, died June 27. A memorial gathering was held Saturday, July 9, from noon to 4 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with a memorial service at 3 p.m.  Interment is private.

Betty J. Molskow

 

Betty J. Molskow of Lombard, Ill., died June 28 at Medical University of South Carolina/Charleston.

Born Betty Jane Colvard in Bristol, Tenn., and moved to Washington, D.C., where she graduated from McKinley Tech High School, Class of 1949.

She was employed with the Atomic Energy Commission in Washington, D.C., as a stenographer from 1947 to 1957.

She married Harry J. Molskow at Saint Aloysius Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 6, 1955. She later moved to St. Louis, where they had a son, Michael. After her husband graduated from St. Louis University, they moved to Chicago, where she gave birth to a son, Kevin. They relocated to Lombard where she had a son, Jack, and a daughter, Kathy. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church for 53 years.

She is survived by three sons, Kevin, Jack and Michael, and a daughter, Kathleen. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren.

Mass will be at Sacred Heart Church. Info to follow at a later date. Interment is at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill.

 

Melvin H. Phillips

 

Melvin H. Phillips, 84, of Washington, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016, in Presbyterian Senior Care.

He was born May 24, 1932, in Lostant, Ill., a son of Glenn and Lois Thierry Phillips.

Mr. Phillips graduated from Lostant High School, in 1950. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1956. He continued his education, graduating from the Illinois State College, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Education in 1953, and earned his Master’s degree in 1973, at the Illinois State University. He lived most of his working career in Villa Park, Ill., where he taught throughout District 45. He moved to Washington, Pa., and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Covered Bridge Region AACA and the American Legion, Post 175. He loved antique cars, and enjoyed volunteer work.

Surviving are his wife, Judith Phillips, of Washington; sons, Del (Melissa) Phillips, of Chesapeake, Va., Craig (Cheril) Phillips, of Plainfield, Ill.; daughter, Frances “Char” (Bob) Pankow, of Lexington, S.C.; sister, Donna-Jo (Darwin) Richard, of Lostant, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Yonce Phillips, who died in 1993; and grandchildren, Scott and Nicole Phillips.

There will be no public visitation. A celebration of Mr. Phillips’ life will be held at a time to be announced.

Patricia J. Swieca

 

Patricia J. Swieca, age 59, suddenly, of Lombard, formerly of Chicago. Loving daughter of the late Mitchell I. and the late Josephine Swieca. Dear sister of Charlotte S. (George R.) Roos of Lombard and Mitchell S. (Patricia) Swieca of Buncombe, Ill. Fond aunt of Kristi (David) Buck of Oakfield, Wis., Leslie (Edmund) Santellano of Buncombe, Ill., and the late Jeffery Wiard. Great-aunt of three.

Patricia volunteered at the Food Pantry and Clothing Closet at First Methodist Church in Lombard. She formerly worked for the Chicago Park District. She grew up on the northwest side of Chicago and lived there until 2014. After graduating from Foreman High School, Patricia attended Triton College. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially cashew-covered turtles and truffles. Patricia loved animals; her favorites were dogs, cats, birds and horses.

Visitation and Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 15, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m., at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, Ill.

Nancy L. Wilson

 

Nancy L. Wilson (nee Arnold), 85 years old, passed away peacefully on July 1, at home surrounded by the love of her family. Cherished wife and best friend of Richard A. Wilson. Loving mother of Cheryl (Robert) Baer, Lou (Cathy) Wilson, Lorri (Wes) Woodall and Dave Wilson. Proud grandmother of Christine (Donta) Norwood, Kevin (Christine) Baer, Steve (Deborah) Woodall, Jeremy Wilson, Jon (Lauren) Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Nicole (Chad) Stansbury and David Jacobson.  Dear great-grandmother of Aidan and Lily Baer, Maddie Woodall, Andrea Schumacher, Benjamin Wilson and Zoe Norwood.

Filled with compassion and interest in others, Nancy made friends easily and maintained contact with many. She was an active volunteer, most notably with the Lombard Woman’s Club, helping improve life of those in Lombard.

A memorial service and celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at Lexington Square, 555 Foxworth Blvd., Lombard, Ill., on Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill.
