James R. Cooper

James R. Cooper, age 84, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2016. James was born in Lombard and was a longtime resident of Elmhurst.

Beloved husband of the late Mae Cooper. Loving father of Janet (Jim) McBride, Joe Cooper, Sharon Cooper, Sandy (Matt) Reilly, Bill Cooper and John (Jean) Cooper. Proud grandfather of 11. Great-grandfather of two. Fond uncle of many.

Family and friends to gather Saturday, June 4, for 11 a.m. memorial service at Community Congregational Church, 410 S. Cornell Ave., Villa Park, IL 60181.

Lorraine Gotsch

Lorraine Gotsch, nee Semlor, age 82, of Lombard passed away suddenly May 24 at her home.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 28, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard. Interment followed at Chapel Hill Gardens West.

Mrs. Gotsch is survived by her sons, Timothy of Champaign, Jeffrey (Heide) of Lake Zurich, Philip (Margaret) of Elmhurst and Ken (Susan) of Lombard; her grandchildren, Amanda, Sarah, Andrew, Theodore, Daniel, Mary, Julie, Billy and Eric; her brother, Edwin (Linda) Semlor of St. Charles, Mo.; and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Gotsch was preceded in death by her husband, Allen E.; her daughter, Diane; and her sister, Ruth Behnke.

Mrs. Gotsch had been married to her husband, Allen E. for 51 years. She graduated from Luther Institute High School in Chicago in 1950. Mrs. Gotsch had lived on the North Side of Chicago and moved to Lombard in 1962. She was very active at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Lombard.  Mrs. Gotsch was a member of the choir and a Senior Bible Study Leader and participant. She also volunteered for NEDSRA and the Deicke Home in Lombard.

Richard L. Salyer

Richard L. Salyer, age 78, of Lombard, passed away May 28 at his home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 31, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Mr. Salyer is survived by his loving wife, Wilma; his children, Sharon (George) Rokosh of Wheaton, Sandi (Bill Mueller) Salyer of Lombard, Kathi (Mike Mahoney) Salyer of Lombard; his son-in-law,  John Fisch of Glen Ellyn; his grandchildren, Brandon Rokosh, Christopher (fiancĂ© Amanda Mercado) Rokosh, Marc Rokosh, Amanda (Paul)  Andrzejewski, Maura Mueller, Lance Mueller; great-grandson, Bailey Rokosh; and his two sisters. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Fisch.

Mr. Salyer grew up in Hillside and attended Proviso East High School. He was a resident of Lombard for 30 years. Mr. Salyer owned Dick’s Shell Service in Elmhurst from 1971 until 1995. He worked for CJC Auto Parts and Tire Co.  in Lombard for five years until 2015. Mr. Salyer was a hard worker and handyman.

Ursula Sheehan

Ursula Sheehan, nee Hofheinz, 78, of Lombard, passed away May 24, 2016, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was lovingly cared for by her two daughters, sisters-in-law and other family members, as well as close friends.

Born in southwest Germany, Ursula emigrated from the small town of Guglingen to Chicago in the late 1960s where she worked as a travel agent, and later as a bookkeeper and receptionist. She was a resident of Lombard for over 40 years. Ursula worked as a secretary for M.J. Vandenbroucke Accounting Firm in Lombard. She was an avid world traveler, active participant in the German cultural community and an adventurous cook.

Ursula is survived by her loving daughters, Heidi of Lake Tahoe, Nev., and Martina of Chicago; her granddaughter, Sofia; her sisters-in-law, Catherine “Kay” Hession and Patricia “Puddy” (Joe) Glynn; and many nieces and nephews.

Ursula was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; and mother, Marta.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 2, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill.

William R. Sladek

William R. “Billy” Sladek, age 35, of Lombard, passed away May 25 at Loyola Hospital.
