Marilyn V. Anderson

Marilyn V. Anderson, age 88, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, Ill., formerly of Lombard, died Feb. 21, 2016. She was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Hollywood Township, Minn., to Harris H. and Gertrude C. (nee Gongoll) Tesch.
She was baptized in the Christian faith as an infant on May 27, 1928. She completed her Junior Catechism at the Evangelical Church on March 17, 1940. She graduated from Watertown High School in Watertown, Minn.
On Sept. 19, 1953, Marilyn married Philip E. Anderson in Watertown, Minn. Their original home was in New Ulm, Minn. Marilyn moved numerous times in her life living in Minnesota, Nebraska and finally in Illinois. Marilyn and Philip were married over 47 years until Philip passed away on July 22, 2001.
Marilyn enjoyed tennis and going to Cubs games. She enjoyed baking, especially at Christmastime. She enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and crochet. She was an active member of the Wheaton Senior Center and Gary United Methodist Church and formerly the First United Methodist Church of Lombard.
Marilyn and Phil were blessed to have four children, Tom (Carol) Anderson of Flower Mound, Texas, Ann (Ron) Hein of Batavia, Ill., Kris (Bob) Smith of Carol Stream, Ill., and Dean (Tony Millette) Anderson of Oakland, Calif.
She was a proud grandmother to Jennifer Anderson, Kathy (Jason) Keogh, Bob (Karen) Smith, Cheryl Smith, Andy (Kate) Hein and Caroline Hein; and great-grandmother to Dillon, Emma and Kayla Keogh, Mia Smith and Marilyn Hein.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband: Philip Anderson; her parents; sisters, Marion Schwartz and Lorraine Tesch; sister-in-law, Iona Tesch; and brother-in-law; Norman Schwartz.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, from 1-4 p.m. at Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Drive, Carol Stream, IL 60188, with a service at 3 p.m.

Betty Lou Ferguson

Betty Lou Ferguson (née Hodges), born 19 Feb. 1921, in Walsenburg, Colo., passed away peacefully at Windsor Park Manor, Carol Stream, Ill., on 7 Feb. 2016, of natural causes. She was 94 years old.
Mrs. Ferguson, or “Madame” or “Senora” as she was known to her students, taught French and Spanish for over 20 years at both Glenbard West and Glenbard East high schools, before her retirement in 1980. Earlier in her life, during World War II, Mrs. Ferguson served in the War Department as part of the U.S. Censorship Bureau at San Ysidro, Calif.
She married Marine Corps Corporal Bruce Arthur Ferguson on 15 Oct. 1944, and the couple ultimately made their home in Lombard. Besides foreign languages, Mrs. Ferguson was passionate about church, travel, music (organ) and in her later years teaching English as a second language to help refugees.
Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson had three sons: John “Jack” of Dallas, Texas; Brian (Lisa) of Lombard, Ill.; and Barry (Donna) of Paris, France. She is also survived by grandchildren Heather (Derek) Glass of Plainfield, Ill.; Colin (Eli) Ferguson of Austin, Texas; Tom and Aaron Ferguson of Des Moines, Iowa; and Megan, Melanie, Marissa and Miranda (Ben); as well as great-grandchildren Derek and Dylan Glass. Mr. Ferguson preceded her in death in 1998.
Memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Methodist Church, 250 N Gary Ave., Carol Stream IL 60188.

Alice Mary Klein

Alice Mary Klein nee Kulik, age 84, of Lombard, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Central DuPage Hospital.
A memorial visitation will be held today, March 2, from 9 a.m. until time of prayers at 10:30 a.m. from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Sacred Heart Church for 11 a.m. Mass. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Claire Louise Loudon

Claire Louise Loudon, age 77, of Glen Ellyn, Ill. At rest Feb. 26, 2016. Claire was born in the Westlake Hospital, Melrose Park, Ill., on Nov. 21, 1938, the beloved fifth (and last) daughter of the late Andrew Lee and the late Virginia Eleanor Loudon, nee Tesch. She leaves behind one sister, Judith Rhonda (Rev. Dennis A.) Kee of Waverly, Ohio, and 12 nieces/nephews; several great- nieces/nephews; and a host of many dear friends. Claire was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters, Dolores Madeline (Daniel J.) Rice, Audrey Lee (Russell P.) McAleer and Jacqueline Virginia (Allen L.) Neubauer.
Claire was a graduate of York Community High School in Elmhurst, Ill. She sang in the choir of First Church of Lombard and was a member of a women’s vocal group, the “Quarternotes of Downers” (Downers Grove, Ill.). Claire’s love of classical/opera gave her so much pleasure, including the various multiple opportunities to be in Dame Kiri Te Kanawa’s audience.
Claire was secretary of the Maple Street Chapel Preservation Society Inc., Lombard, Ill., a volunteer society to help preserve the beloved 1870 Maple Street Chapel. Claire took an early retirement from the Tribune Co, Chicago, Ill., to pursue her love of traveling, which took her to London, Belgium, Barcelona, Rome, Monte Carlo, Island of Mallorca, Australia and New Zealand, as well as over 30 U.S. states.
Gathering Thursday, 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the Maple Street Chapel, 220 S. Main St. Lombard, IL 60148. Interment private.

John Lorenz Steuer

John Lorenz Steuer, age 68, of Downers Grove, formerly of Lombard, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, at Hines VA Hospital.

Margot Tymoszenko

Margot “Frau T.” Tymoszenko, nee Spitznagel, age 92, of Lombard, passed away Feb. 16 at her home.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, March 5, from 1 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 3 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mrs. Tymoszenko is survived by her loving son, Michael (Debie Haley) Tymoszenko of Lombard; her dear grandchildren, Stephanie (Randy) Sladek of Villa Park, Michael Jr. (Amy) Tymoszenko of Villa Park, Brittany Tymoszenko of Glen Ellyn and Joseph A. Tymoszenko of Glen Ellyn; her beloved great-grandchildren, Anna Tymoszenko of Villa Park, Michael N. Tymoszenko III of Villa Park, Ava Sladek and Ella Sladek of Villa Park; her sister, Enid (Klaus) Janssen of Germany; and niece and nephew, Uta of Ireland and Andreas of Germany.
Mrs. Tymoszenko was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J.; and her brother, Henning Spitznagel.
Mrs. Tymoszenko was born in Essen, Germany on March 14, 1923. She studied medicine in Germany, married her husband, Joseph, who was stationed there by the USAF, and came to the U.S. in 1957. Mrs. Tymoszenko received her master’s degree from the University of Chicago in the 1960s. She moved to Lombard in 1969 and lived here for the last 47 years. She taught German at Glenbard East and Glenbard West high schools from 1963-83. Mrs. Tymoszenko was a well-known and well-loved teacher by her students. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, the opera and traveling.
