Peggy Q. Kivioja

 

Peggy Q. Kivioja (nee Quinn) of Baraboo, Wisconsin, formerly of Villa Park, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016.

Peggy was born in 1933 in Columbus, Ohio, to Thomas and Katherine Quinn. She attended The Ohio State University where she met her husband Olaf. They were married in 1954 in Columbus, Ohio. Peggy and Olaf moved to Villa Park in 1963 where they raised their three children on Euclid Avenue.

Peggy was an active member of the PTA and the Girl Scouts of America. She was an assistant scout leader of Brownie Troop 844 and scout leader for Junior Scout Troop 830 for 15 years. She was affectionately called “Mrs. K” by many of her scouts. Peggy served for two years as the president of Villa Park’s League of Women Voters, was named Villa Park’s “Citizen of the Year” in 1970 and also ran for village clerk.

She returned to college and received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Roosevelt University Chicago in 1984. She worked for several years in the public relations department of Suburban Hospital in Hinsdale. Peggy and Olaf were members of St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park. They moved to Baraboo in 2000 to be closer to their Wisconsin family. Peggy was a proud Irish lady who was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and a faithful fan of the Chicago Cubs.

Peggy is survived by her three children and two grandchildren; Julie (Michael) Rogers of Sauk City, Wisconsin; Thomas of Spokane, Washington; Lisa (Steve) Kaliski of Ferguson, Missouri; and grandsons Charles and James Arndt of Sauk City. Peggy is also survived by her dear cousin Mary Rita Pierson of Toledo, Ohio; sister-in-law Ivi (Sandor) Karady of Mountainside, New Jersey; brother-in-law Juri (Deb) Ilves  of Groveport, Ohio; special friends who became family including Quentin (Joyce) Questel; Larry Doyle; Inge Timmerman and family; Marilyn Montag; Shelley (Rich) Worth; and Jenny Ellie; and beloved canine friend Angel. Dear friend and aunt to many.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Olaf; parents, Thomas and Katherine Quinn; brothers, Thomas Jr. (Rita) and Robert; in-laws, Harald Kivioja and Julia Kivioja Ilves and John Ilves; dear friend, Arlene Doyle; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services were held Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baraboo. The Redlin Funeral Home assisted the family.

Private interment in Columbus, Ohio at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sauk County Humane Society or charity of choice.

Henry Olejniczak

 

Henry Olejniczak, age 90, of Lombard, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 3, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment followed at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
