Shelly Amorella

 

Shelly Amorella, nee Keogh, passed away Aug. 3, 2017. Beloved wife of Michael for 47 years; loving mother of Kerry (Rick) Bair and Michael (Marie Claire); devoted grandmother of Brigid, Brennan and Conor Bair, and Michael and Charlie Amorella; caring sister of Kay (Mike) Martin and the late Danny Keogh; dear daughter of the late Daniel Keogh and the late Cecelia "Dolly" Keogh, nee McGrath.

Memorial Mass was held Wednesday, Aug. 16, at St. Pius X Church, 1025 E. Madison St., Lombard, IL 60148. Interment private.

Judy Curtis

 

Judy (Roherty) Curtis passed away on July 5, 2017. Judy was the daughter of Clem and Esther Roherty of Janesville, Wisconsin.

Judy worked for United Airlines for 10 years, traveling extensively on vacation. She then worked for Keebler Company for 31 years. She was a fan of the Bulls, White Sox, and was a lifelong jazz enthusiast.

She is survived by her son, Christopher; daughter-in-law, Rachel Miller; three grandchildren, Jessica, Michael and Daniel; sister, Jean (Roherty) Creek and her husband, Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Bill and Tom; and sister, Sally.

Interment is private.    Contributions may be sent to Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard.

 

Paula E. DeForest

 

Paula E. DeForest nee Bilek, age 90, of Lombard, died Aug. 8 at her daughter’s home.

Private services were held at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.

Mrs. DeForest was survived by her dear children Lee A. (“Kip”) of Gurnee, James R. (Patricia) of Lombard and Donna Lee Eisner of Lombard; daughter-in-law, Martha, of Glen Ellyn; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, F. Thomas (Bea) Bilek of Texas.

Mrs. DeForest was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald DeForest; her son, Thomas R.; son-in-law, Michael Eisner; a granddaughter, Dana; and 2 sisters, Helen Strain and Frannie Elseman.

Mrs. DeForest had been a resident of Lombard for 67 years. She graduated from Calumet High School. She and her husband owned Don DeForest Associates, now DeForest Creative Group, which they sold in 1999. She was a member of the American Society of Women Accountants and the Lombard Historical Society. Her hobbies were bookkeeping, the White Sox, the Packers, fishing, camping, archery and crossword puzzles. For 15 years she made it possible for the family to all get lunch together at Hi-View Restaurant.

Ronald Lee Hammer

 

Ronald Lee Hammer, 73, of Springfield, Michigan, formerly of Lombard, son of the late Kenneth and Mildred Hammer, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Ron graduated from Amundsen High School in 1961, earned a Bachelor's Degree from Elmhurst College and served four years active duty in the U.S. Army. He attended jump school at Fort Benning, Ga., and was part of the U.S Army Special Forces (Airborne), also known as the Green Berets. He served eight years in the Army Reserves. Ron was a law enforcement officer for close to 30 years, including with the Lombard Police Department.

Ron is survived by his children, Dawn (Dave) VanWerden, Ken (Erin) Hammer and Cindy (Jason) Corstange; 14 grandchildren; brother, Richard; and former wife, Diane Hammer.   A private family graveside service with military honors was held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Christina Kallo

 

Christina Kallo, age 64, of Lombard, passed away on Aug. 7, 2017.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 11, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Interment followed at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Jeanne Rita Kevil

 

Jeanne Rita Kevil, nee Hopkinson, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the wee hours of August 5. Born in Chicago, grew up in Oak Park, was educated at Ascension Parish Grade School, Trinity High School and Rosary College; longtime

resident of Elmhurst; beloved wife of the late John "Jack" Joseph Kevil, Sr.; beloved mother of John Jr. (Donna), James (Victoria) and Stephen (Pat) Kevil, Therese (Tim) Koch, Patricia (Tom) Sundahl, Michael, and Martin (Karen) Kevil; proud Nana of 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; daughter of the late John and Bernice Hopkinson;  all of the related families.

Visitation today, Thursday, 9:15 a.m. until time of funeral 10:15 a.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 S. York Road, (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside.

Mary E. Ruth

 

Mary E. Ruth, 86, of Villa Park, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 6.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 9, at St. Alexander Church, 300 S. Cornell, Villa Park. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn.
