Elizabeth R. Hogan, age 87, of Lombard, died Dec. 19 at Serenity Hospice Home.

She was the loving wife of the late James R. Hogan; loving mother of James W. (Kathleen) Hogan of Lombard, Alan R. (Barbara) of Oswego, Matthew L. (Diane) of Sublette, Melissa L. (Gery) Fawkes of Amboy, John R. (Jacquelyne) of Owatonna, Minnesota; fond grandmother of Nicholas, Thomas (Ashley), Scott, Jason, Kelly, William (Jacquelynn), Emily, JR, Jessica and Matthew; great-grandmother of Adelyn, Myles and Eli; dear sister of David, Glenn and Wayne Hayward, and the late Doris, Marvin, Beverly and several infant brothers and sisters; many other relatives.

Funeral service was Thursday, Dec. 28, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.

Elizabeth had been a resident of Lombard for almost 60 years. She was a homemaker. Elizabeth was a member of Community Presbyterian Church and a member of her neighborhood club on Meadow Avenue.

Jane Elizabeth Nolan

 

Jane Elizabeth Nolan, age 85, a longtime resident of Lombard, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017. She was born Nov. 15, 1932, in Hammond, Indiana, to Anthony and Josephine Voss.

Jane grew up in Calumet City, the youngest of three children. While attending Loyola University she met the love of her life William Nolan. They were married on April 28, 1956. They raised six children in Lombard. Jane and Bill were active members of the Lombard Gospel Chapel.

After facing one of the toughest challenges in her life, losing her dear husband Bill at a young age of 51, she faced widowhood with five of her children still at home. Jane faced this challenge with strength and perseverance.

She enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting, bowling and playing both the piano and organ. She served with the Prison Fellowship Ministry at Cook County Jail. She also was a camp counselor and cook at Lake Geneva Youth Camp. She actively was involved within her church serving in various ministries like Vacation Bible School, Awana Club and the nursery Sunday School. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jane can be remembered as a self-sacrificing, fun-loving, kind and a social person who instantly made everyone she met feel like a long lasting friend. Her deep faith sustained her positive attitude throughout her entire life.

She is survived by five children, Mary (Jeff) Arhart of Bartlett, Brian (Laura) Nolan of St. Charles, Julie (Daryl) Palumbo of Geneva, Erin (Richard) Ulrich of Naperville and John (Denise) Nolan of Arizona; daughter-in-law, Lynette Nolan; 17 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sally Voss. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; son, Kevin Nolan; and grandson, Shane.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at Lombard Gospel Chapel, 369 N. Stewart, Lombard, IL 60148. Interment followed at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.

Kenneth Rueffer, age 65, of Lombard. Beloved husband of Velta Rueffer, nee Schweihs; loving father of Brian (Megan) Rueffer, Eric Rueffer, Laurie (Brian) Lanners, and the late Kristopher Rueffer; devoted grandfather of Joshua and Lila Lanners; son of the late Raymond and the late Evelyn Rueffer, and step-son of the late Phyllis Rueffer; son-in-law of Donna and the late Ralph Schweihs; fond brother of Karen (the late John) Danuser, Jeffrey (Cindy) Rueffer, and brother-in-law of Ralph Jr. (Barbara) Schweihs, Vickie (Paul) Wojciechowski, Nick (Teresa) Schweihs, Patty Martin, Chuck (Sue) Schweihs, and the late Deborah Fischer; uncle of many nieces and nephews, and friend to many.

Kenneth will be remembered as a craftsman who enjoyed working with his hands, and passing his skills onto others.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 27, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln St., Lombard, IL 60148. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
