L. Tucker Matzek

 

L. Tucker Matzek, age 91, of Lombard since 1954, passed away July 20, 2017.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 24, at First United Methodist Church, 155 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.

Mr. Matzek is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, nee Hill; his loving children, Paula Matzek of Mt. Prospect, Elizabeth (James) Boaz of Colorado, and Peter (Salete) of Hayward, California; his dear sister, Martha Kirchman of La Grange Park; and his 14 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Matzek was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in WWII from 1943-1945. He was a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology where he received his B.S., M.S. and MBA.

Mr. Matzek was a retired Electrical Engineer and a member of the I.E.E.E. (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.) He had worked for Motorola, Zenith and various other companies. Mr. Matzek was an active member of First United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. He also played the banjo and was an amateur magician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.

Reta Ann Schultz, nee Miller, age 88, of Northbrook, formerly of Villa Park, passed away Saturday, July 22.

Martinus F. Sorensen, USAF retired, age 74, of Lombard, died Thursday, July 20 at his home.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 25, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard. Interment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
