Gladys L. Canick

 

Gladys L. Canick, nee Sorensen, age 94, of Bloomingdale, formerly of River Forest, passed away May 22, 2017.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 27, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment followed at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.

Susan Jane Frydrych

 

Susan Jane Frydrych, nee Ellsworth, age 76, a longtime Lombard resident, passed away May 21, 2017.

A Funeral Service was held Saturday, May 27, at Brust Funeral Home. Interment followed at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.

Susan is survived by her loving children, Laurie Ann (Howard) Cohen of Wheaton, Frank W. Jr. (Ceci) of Lombard and Julie Ann Settles of Lombard; her cherished grandchildren, Rachel Susan Cohen of Indiana, Ashley Anne Cohen of Wheaton, Mia Cecilia Frydrych of Lombard, Alex Frydrych of Lombard, Byron Scott Settles of Lombard, Abby Janele Frydrych of Lombard and Jake Walter Frydrych of Lombard; and her dear sister-in-law, Leola Ellsworth of Elgin; many nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Sr.; her brother, James; and her sister, Dolores Eyer.

Susan grew up in Lombard. She went to Hammerschmidt Grade School, Lombard Jr. High and graduated from Glenbard West High School. Susan was part owner of Suburban Urban’s Tavern in Lombard. She also worked at Johnson Amoco Gas Station. For the last 9 years, Susan worked for the Village of Villa Park. She was a loyal customer of Blue Plate Restaurant in Lombard. Susan enjoyed crafts, crocheting, reading and the casinos. She supported her grandchildren’s athletic teams and was also a Bears fan.

Sharon Hakeman

 

Sharon Hakeman (nee Haligas), 64, of Glen Ellyn, passed away on May 23, 2017.

Born in Elgin, IL, Sharon attended Glenbard East High School in Lombard, and was a graduate of Grand View College and Taylor University. She worked for many years as a preschool teacher and was an active lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard. Her parents, Jack and Lois, preceded her in death.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dennis; son Eric (Robin); daughter Emily (Brian Richards); brothers Scott (Georgia) and Spencer; and four grandchildren; and shall be lovingly remembered by numerous extended family and dear friends.

Services will be private.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of donor's choosing.

 

Doris Waneta Howell

 

Doris Waneta Howell, 91, of Lincoln, formerly of Lombard, passed away May 22, 2017, at the Christian Village.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home with Chaplain Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Doris was born September 8, 1925, in Lincoln, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer L. Gehlbach and Alma C. (Werth) Gehlbach. She married Floyd Richard Howell on June 11, 1950, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2005.

Mrs. Howell graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1943 and graduated from Lincoln College in 1945 with an Associate of Arts Degree. She was a Charter Member of the Women's Auxiliary of Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, and a member of the Green Valley unit of the DuPage County Homemakers Extension Association.

Survivors include her son Bruce G. Howell of Morton, Illinois; grandsons Jason Howell and Andrew Howell, also of Morton; and sister Norma Rankin of Urbana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Floyd; and her son Brian K. Howell.

Memorial donations may be made to The Christian Village and will be accepted at the funeral home.

 

Lester R. Mullin

 

Lester R. Mullin, 86; beloved husband of Ruth Schlehahn; preceded in death of first wife Darlene A. (nee) Rittmueller of 44 years; loving father of Kirk (Kathy) and Keith (Marlena); preceded in death of both sons and Kathy; cherished grandfather of Ried, Lesley, Taylor and Carley; adored brother of Kenneth R. Mullin (Shirley). In addition, he was a special father/grandfather for stepson Harry Schlehahn, stepdaughter Lisa (Schlehahn) Schroeder (Alan), and grandchildren Thomas and Bethany.

Lester was a First Lieutenant and honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, 1954-1957. A Bachelor of Arts graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, he worked as a commercial artist for 45 years.

A private remembrance gathering is being planned. Tributes in Mr. Mullin’s memory may be made in his name to Calvary Baptist Church, 2810 No. 21st St., Superior, WI 54880.

 

Gale E. Nauertz

 

Gale E. Nauertz, Villa Park. Gale was born Dec. 9, 1933, and passed away suddenly at home on May 16, 2017.

Gale was a loving husband to Janice. He was a father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend to many. He will be missed by those whose lives he touched.

Gale was a Master Mason of Constellation Lodge #974. He retired from Int'l Harvester and Lombard School Dist. #45.

A Celebration of Life will be held privately at a later date.

Bonnie L. Santi, nee Shultz, age 64, of Glen Ellyn, passed away May 22, 2017.

Private funeral services were held from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to a private entombment at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
