Klaus Christoph Wolff

Klaus Christoph Wolff, formerly of Lombard, born April 22, 1952, in Isernhagen, W. Germany, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 5, 2017, "Cinco de Mayo."

Klaus (sometimes going by "Chris" when people had trouble saying his name) came to America as a young boy on the MS Berlin. He was full of curiosity, climbing the ship's ledge to get a better view of the ocean. The oldest of five, Klaus often marshaled around his younger siblings to keep them occupied and out of trouble. His love of baseball, Elvis gospel songs, Hank Williams, John Starnes and a hearty meal was only topped by his love of the Lord, who he beseeched in daily prayer for more people then we will ever know.

He had a knack for writing and could put his thoughts down in one fell swoop, without edits. He served as sports editor while attending the College of DuPage, and later, would regularly write letters of encouragement to those who were suffering or in need.

He had a heart for the young and wayward, having worked for five years at the St. Charles Boys Home, and had a fondness for many of his friends in Ohio, where he also lived for part of his life.  He was unassuming in his acts of kindness toward others whether praying for their healing, painting a wall or delivering holiday flowers.

Later in life, he became very involved at Oak Brook Community Church where he met a congregation full of loving believers who were truly "brothers and sisters" in the Lord to him.

He is survived by his parents, Hans Wolff and Sabine Wolff; siblings, Hans D. Wolff, Mary Totz (Terry), Michael Wolff; Aunt, Ingeborg Kremeyer; Uncle, Klaus Wolff (Rachael); nieces and nephews, Nicole Wilson (Jason), Nathan Totz (Kathryn), Alexandria Wolff, Brittany Wolff; and great nieces and nephews, Lydia Wilson, Landon Wilson, Evelyn Totz, Victoria Wolff, Alexander Wolff, and Riley Wolff; and various other cousins here and abroad. He's preceded in death by his grandparents; little sister, Rosemary ("Rosi") Freeman (Jim); and other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held at Oak Brook Community Church, 3100 Midwest Road, Oak Brook, on Saturday, May 27, 2017, with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon. Memorial Service from noon to 1 p.m., followed by food and fellowship.

You're encouraged to wear blue, his favorite color.

Donations towards funeral expenses can be made to Oak Brook Community Church or GoFundMe at https://www.gofundme.com/Klaus-memorialfund.
