Elaine J. Gabrovic

 

Elaine J. Gabrovic (nee Deater-Nelson), 86, recently of Barronett, Wisconsin, passed peacefully in her sleep on April 4, 2017.

Surviving her are her daughters, Lynn (Paul) Ridgeway, Carol Nelson and Sondra (Vinode) Mahraj; grandchildren, Rembrandt Balabuskzo and Sewdaye Elaine Mahraj; great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Logan and Clint Balabuszko; stepson, David  (Judy) Gabrovic and step-grandchildren Stephanie and Angela Crisci, Doug and Tony; and step-great-grandchildren Parish and Danny.

Elaine was born in Muskegon, Michigan, where she was in the graduating February class of “The Forty-Niners” of Muskegon Senior High. She had resided in Barronett since 2006.

She previously had spent 34 years as a resident of Lombard, where she retired after 24+ years with Mosstype Corporation of Illinois. She enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening, traveling the US and was an avid crossword puzzle solver.

Preceded in death were her husband, August P. (Gus) Gabrovic of Lombard; her parents,  Orien (Duke) and Esther Deater; and brothers,  Gorden and Ken Deater, all of Muskegon.

A private memorial service to be announced.

 

James E. Knebel

 

James E. Knebel, 70, of Elmhurst, passed away on Monday, April 24.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 28, at Visitation Church, Elmhurst. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.

James E. Kokines

 

James E. Kokines, age 88, of Lombard, World War II and Korean War veteran, passed away Monday, April 24.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 1, from Brust Funeral Home to Mass at St. Pius X Church, 1025 E. Madison, Lombard. Interment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.

Harry C. Korn

 

Harry C. Korn, 86, of Villa Park, passed away on Saturday, April 29.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 3, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace.

Paul W. Plass

 

Paul W. Plass, age 85, of Lombard, former owner, Lombard True Value Hardware, died April 26. Loving husband of the late Iola, nee Knapp. Dear stepfather of Rex Poppe of Cedar Rapids and the late Kerry. Dear brother of the late Wilbert (Beatrice) Plass and the late Erwin (Marion) Plass. Fond uncle of William (Nancy) Plass of Wheaton, Susan (Frank) Nelson of Minnesota, James (Patricia) Plass of Dixon, Illinois, and Jeffery (Lori) Plass of Leland, Michael (Susan) Plass of Mountain View, California, Jane Plass of Villa Park, Julie (Robert Smith) Plass-Smith of Madison, Wisconsin. Great uncle of eight. Dear friend of Frances L. Hendrickson of Lombard. Many other friends and relatives.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.

Mr. Plass was born in Addison, was a graduate of St. Paul’s Lutheran Grade School and a graduate of York High School. He was a combat veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. Mr. Plass was the owner of Lombard True Value Hardware on Main Street in Lombard from 1967 to 1997. He was a member of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce and the Lombard Businessman’s Association.

Mr. Plass had sponsored many youth organizations, sports teams and police in Lombard.  He loved to fish, hunt and golf.

John C.  Sidman

 

John C. Sidman, Age 71, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017, with his loving family by his side.

John was the loving husband of Rita (Nee) Plante. Loving Brother to Gerald (Nancy), Thomas (Karen), Mary Kay (James) Blonn, Joanne (Robert) Withington. Cherished Father of Kristine (Paul) Coronado; John (Rachael) Sidman, Jason (Allyson, fiancé) Sidman. Devoted Grandfather to Daniel, Emily, Zacharias, Madelyn, Alivia, Joshua, Ryan, Nathaniel and Rosemary.
