Loretta Meek

 

Loretta Meek, 89, a resident of Lombard for 63 years, passed away on Oct. 24, 2017, at Presence Mercy Hospital in Aurora.

Preceded in death by her husband, Edward; and survived by her loving twin sister, Helen. Loving Mother of five children, John (LouAnn), Tom (Arlene), Barb, Rob (Wendy) and Mary Beth. Loving grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 14.

She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Lombard.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard.

Her sweetness has touched and left many beautiful memories to those she leaves behind.

 

Betty Lou Moorhead

 

Betty Lou Moorhead, nee Beales. Beloved wife of the late Daniel Moorhead. Loving mother of Danae (Dennis) Beverley, Karen (John) Murphy, Andrea (Mike) Grant and the late Roger (Pam survives) Moorhead. Dearest grandmother of Johnny (Rebecca) Murphy, Daniel (Michelle) Grant, Alan (Stephanie) Murphy, Leah Crain-Beverly, Samantha (Nick) Greco, Tara (Aaron) Foster and James Murphy. Proud great-grandmother of Luke Crain, Benjamin Crain, Sean Murphy, Liam Murphy, Ellery Grant, Sawyer Grant, Gia Greco and Eli Greco. Cherished daughter of the late Robert and Irene Greenberg. Dear sister of Robert (Arleen) Greenberg. And beloved dog Peanut. A 1950 graduate of York High School, a Campfire Girls leader for many years, retired in 1990 from Eastern Airlines and a resident of Lombard for over 50 years.

Douglas W. Piekarski

 

Douglas William Piekarski, age 75, of Villa Park, died Oct. 23 at Hines Veteran Hospital.

Douglas was the dear uncle of a niece, Stephanie (Alexander) Sumrall of Oklahoma; two nephews, Alexander Kalamaras of Chicago and William Kalamaras of Oklahoma; great-uncle of four; brother-in-law of Jim Katz of Joliet; and fiancée of Yvonne Matsinger of Lombard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary; and a sister, Penny Kalamaras-Katz.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Douglas was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, having served in Germany. He was a graduate of York High School and was an avid bowler. Douglas had retired from Ovaltine and coached girls softball.
