David (Doug) Given

 

David (Doug) Given died at Good Samaritan Hospital on April 4, 2018. He had been a resident of Lombard since 1957 and lived at Lexington Square Senior Living for several years.

He grew up in Paxton, Illinois, the youngest of Everett and Ruth Given. He is survived by his wife, Joan Harrell Given; son, Steven (Gloria Reeg) of Bainbridge Island, Washington; grandson Alex and granddaughter Elisabeth of Washington State; brother, Dr. Everett (June) Given, San Jose, California; sister, Barbara (Dr. Robert) Madsen, Kirksville, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

Doug attended the University of Illinois and Millikin University. He joined the Navy and was attached to the Marines during the Korean War.

Doug's passion was music. After moving to Lombard, he was a member of the DuPage Symphony, church music in Chicago and the suburban area, and for several years he traveled with a Chicago group providing musical entertainment for trade and event meetings in both the United States and Canada.

Family services will be private at a later date; burial will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.

Carmen J. Guido, age 94, of Naperville, formerly of Lisle and Lombard, passed away April 21, 2018.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 25, at St. Patrick’s Residence, 1400 Brookdale Road, Naperville. Entombment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

Mary Theresa Thacker, nee McCafferty, age 81, of Lombard, passed away April 15, 2018.

A Funeral Mass will be held today, April 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 4801 Main St., Downers Grove.
