Janice R. Bernacchi

 

Janice R. Bernacchi, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, 77. Born on March 4, 1940, in Chicago, returned home to God peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Derna and Albert Bernacchi; and her husband, Daniel R. McSweeney.

A resident of Lombard for 48 years and a devout Catholic parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish Lombard, Janice was also an avid animal lover and caregiver who enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones including friends from her parish. Time spent in prayer and meditation was always important to her. She led a very simple life, enjoying feeding the animals, reading and watching soap operas. Her children will forever cherish memories of their childhood.  

She is survived by her sons, Daniel J. McSweeney (wife Michelle and their children Daniel, Michael and Mark), William A. McSweeney (wife Janelle) and Terrence M. McSweeney (wife Pearl and their children Valerie, Cassandra, Joshua and Kathleen); and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Diane (Flower) and her family.

Memorial service will be held at Brust Funeral Home in Lombard on Friday Jan. 12, 2018, from 4-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital or the National Anti-Cruelty Society.

 

Nancy Joann Mack

 

Nancy Joann Mack, nee Opal, age 81, of Lombard. Born Dec. 16, 1936, youngest of three to her sisters Janet and Eugenia.

She graduated from Foreman High School, Chicago, in 1953, where she was salutatorian of her graduating class.

As a freshman in high school, she met her future husband while riding on the back of his CZ 125 motorcycle. They remained sweethearts and devoted companions for the next 67 years. They were married on Aug. 24, 1957, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Nancy was the loving mother to Gary, Dale, Mary (Joe) Morgan and Carl (Jhing) Mack; devoted grandmother to Jimmy, Jack, Shay and Brooke; aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She worked at Montini Catholic High School for over 46 years as their bookkeeper and office manager until her retirement in 2016 at the age of 80.

Nancy was an exceptional mother, provider, friend to everyone and avid Cubs fan. She was a superior gardener and a par excellent cookie baker.

Nancy J. Marchioretto, 79, of Lombard, passed away on Jan. 3, 2018.

Pierre G. Michiels

 

Pierre G. Michiels, age 84, of Lombard for 56 years.  Pierre was the beloved husband of the late Mary Lou, nee Grzenia; loving father of Chris (Paul) Grossmann, Steve (Debbie), Ken (Carol), Ray and Glen; cherished grandfather of Mark (Ava), David, Nathaniel, Pierre (Jessica), Gordon (Lauren), Crystal and Jacob; great-grandfather of Kenzie and SJ; uncle and great-uncle of many; and brother from another mother, Don Barg. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Henry Jr., Teresa, Bernard, Frank and John.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, Jan. 6, from Brust Funeral Home to Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., Lombard. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Pierre was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church. He was a retired member of Plumbers Local 130.

Robert J. Nayder

 

Roberet J. Nayder, a 63-year resident of Lombard-Congress Knolls, passed away Jan. 5, 2018.

Visitation is today, Jan. 11, from 4-8 p.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17 W. 201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace. Family and friends to gather Friday, Jan. 12, directly at Ascension of Our Lord Church, 1 S. 314 Summit Ave., Oakbrook Terrace, for 9 a.m. visitation until time of Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Entombment is at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Hillside.

Mr. Nayder was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Chicago. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia; loving father of Linda (Toni Griner) Nayder; and loving grandpa of his dogs Cooper and Baxter. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a retired engineer for Western Electric.

Richard B. Schneider Jr.

 

Richard B. (“Dick”) Schneider Jr. of Lombard, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at the age of 78. During his last hours, he was surrounded by loved ones and family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Valeria (“Pat”); brother, William; and parents, Richard Sr. and Rosalind.

Born in Elmhurst, he grew up in Villa Park and then moved to Lombard where he resided for almost 50 years. He is survived by his son, Richard B. Schneider III; and his canine grandson, Sammy.

As a young man, Dick liked to fish in the Canadian wilderness where he enjoyed many a shore lunch; of which he fondly remembered. Dick had cherished childhood friendships that originated at Salt Creek Elementary School in Villa Park that lasted throughout his lifetime including providing a network of support for him and his young son after the untimely passing of his beloved wife Pat.

He was quite the entrepreneur and dabbled in several business ventures which included owning his own gas station and auto repair, managing the Western Tire and Auto store in Villa Park in the 1960s, driving trucks for several companies before managing the dispatch and terminal of a trucking company in Glenview until his illness forced him to retire in 2000.

Dick began his Masonic career with encouragement and guidance from his father-in-law, Leo Checchi. He was a member of Lombard Masonic Lodge #1098 where he served as Worshipful Master in 1979.

Dick is fondly remembered by the special bond of his Greenfield Ave. neighbors; all of whom remember Dick for the constant and fastidious washing of his driveway.

Visiting hours will be held at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard, on Thursday, Jan. 11, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Funeral Service at 4 p.m. with Sr. Pastor Dan Wegrzyn officiating. Masonic Services will be held at 6 p.m. Interment will be private at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Hillside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research would be appreciated.

Lorri Ann Wunder

 

Lorri Ann Wunder, age 56, lifelong resident of Lombard. Cherished daughter of Arno D. and Leona M., nee Gallant; loving sister of Steve (Jana); dearest aunt of Evan, Derek and Aleah; fond niece of many.

A Memorial Mass was held Thursday, Jan. 4, at Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., Lombard. Interment at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton. 

Lorri graduated from Glenbard East High School in 1979 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Illinois University.  She was a dedicated member of the Sacred Heart music program, being in the Folk and Contemporary Choirs. Lorri crocheted many, many caps for “Sew Many Blessings.”  She studied and played her flute, dobro, banjo and pedal steel guitar. She enjoyed church music, country and classical music.  Lori was an avid reader.
