George Charvat
George Charvat, 83, died Saturday, Nov. 15, in East Troy, Wis.
Funeral services will take place in the Czech Republic.
Mr. Charvat is survived by his children, Roy (Sandy) of Lombard and Jana; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Charvat was a resident of Lombard since 1966. He was born and raised in Czechoslovakia, where he had been a member of the Czech border police and assisted nearly 100 people in escaping Communism before escaping himself in 1949. He served with the U.S. Army in the early 1950s and emigrated to the United States in 1957. He was active in the Berwyn VFW post.
William Coran
Funeral services for William R. “Bill” Coran, 78, of Lombard, were held Friday, Dec. 5, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Coran is survived by his wife Lillian, whom he married in 1950; children, Janet (Joe) Mueller, Robert (Jill) and Michele (Dave) Kats; five grandchildren; brothers, James L. (Walter A. Nelson-Rees) and John C. (Barbara); many nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Russell (Shirley) Bublitz.
Mr. Coran was a resident of Lombard since 1950. He retired after 41 years of service with ComEd.
Memorials to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 350 E. Madison St., Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.

Elenore Cummings
Elenore B. Cummings, nee Buschbach, 84, a lifelong resident of Villa Park and Lombard, died Friday, Dec. 5, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 10, at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Cummings is survived by her husband, Bernard; children, Leslie (Richard) Rosenwinkel, Mark (Mary) and Kellie (Scott) Dravet; eight grandchildren; and brother, Harry (Nora) Buschbach.
Mrs. Cummings attended Ardmore School and graduated from York High School, where she was a two-year honor society member.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Pius X Church would be appreciated.

Dale Harms
Dale Harms, 87, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Dec. 2.
A memorial gathering was held Saturday, Dec. 6, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Harms is survived by his wife, Marianne M.; children, Cookie (Bruce) Winner, Joyce (Mark) Scola, Sharron (Michael) Jordan, Monette, Clyde (Kathy) of Lombard and Geoffrey Panek; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward “Skeeter” Lee; and parents, Edward and Florence.
Mr. Harms was a 48-year resident of Lombard.

Peder Heimdal
Peder R. Heimdal, 73, of Lombard, died Thursday, Dec. 4, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 10, at First Church of Lombard in Lombard. Interment is private.
Mr. Heimdal is survived by his children, Eric M. (Patricia) and Kris A. of Lombard; two grandchildren; sister, Linda (Bob) West; sister-in-law, Cecilia; brother-in-law, Irving Hibler; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, June A.; and brother, Robert.
Mr. Heimdal was a 48-year resident of Lombard. He was a graduate of Taft High School in 1953 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1955-60. He had retired from Illinois Bell in 1991 after working for 32 years as a PBX installer. He was a member of IBEW #134; and loved fishing, vegetable gardening and bowling.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 30 N. Michigan, Suite 2015, Chicago, IL 60602, would be appreciated.

Dennis Hoepner
Dennis C. Hoepner, 60, of Villa Park, died Monday, Dec. 1, in Villa Park.
Funeral services and interment were private.
Mr. Hoepner is survived by his brother, Ronald (Rachael); nephews, Richard (Lara) and Robert Hoepner; and five great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Hoepner.

Rose Komen
Rose M. Komen, of Lombard, died Thursday, Dec. 4, at Northwestern Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 9, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Komen is survived by her children, Rosemarie (Ray) Reid, Maureen (Tom) King of Lombard and John; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Pat Kelley, Rita Olsen, Charles and Tony Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J.; grandson, Joe (Desiree) King; and siblings, Mary Lawler, Dorothy Lawler, Regina Yeoman and Harold Smith.
Mrs. Komen was a resident of Lombard for 58 years. She loved her grandchildren, shopping and spending time with them; she enjoyed reading, bowling and golfing; and enjoyed spending time with friends. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of VFW Post #2801.

Vincent Maltese
Vincent J. Maltese, 87, formerly of Chicago, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Oakbrook Healthcare.

Marjorie Paine
Marjorie H. Paine, nee Lord, 86, of Lombard, died Sunday, Dec. 7, in Lombard.

Mrs. Paine is survived by many good neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D.
Mrs. Paine was a longtime resident of Lombard. She had attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and was retired after working as a bookkeeper. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Lombard.
Lois Riemer
Funeral services and interment for Lois Riemer, 84, formerly of Chicago, were held Monday, Dec. 8, at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Ms. Riemer is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Marion (Carl) Wold and Henrietta (the late Frank) Kmet; nephew, Jackie Kmet; and niece, Darilyn Kmet Clark.
Ms. Riemer had worked for the Mars Candy Co.

Theodore Seil
Theodore Seil, 88, of Sandwich, formerly of Lombard for 60 years, died Sunday, Nov. 30, at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 5, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was at Concordia Cemetery.
Mr. Seil is survived by his wife, Dawn; children, Theodore “Ted” (Lynda), Lois (Ronald) Simmons, Julie (Richard) Farnsworth, Jennifer (James) Burke and Jeannette (David) Di Naso; 30 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, Andrew (Jolene) Kaczmarek, David (Nancy) Kaczmarek, Kim (Albert) Memenga and Sandra (James) Voll. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Jane; and siblings, George (the late Marie) Seil and Dorothy (the late Jacob) Hack.
Mr. Seil was a veteran of World War II, having served with the infantry in Germany. He received a Bronze Star for leading a survey team into a field known to contain many mines; while under enemy artillery fire, he performed his duties as rodman until the survey was completed. He had worked as a printer typesetter and pressman for a printing company.
Memorials to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Lung Association would be appreciated.
Joanne Timms
Joanne K. Timms, 86, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Loyola Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 7, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Timms is survived by her children, Nancy Bennett, Richard “Rick” Jr. (Debbie Dwyer), Michael (former wife Deborah Santo, M.D.), Patrick (former wife, Jan Kerr) and Andrew (Carol); two grandchildren; and sisters, Anne McMahan Jr. and Delores (Tom) Michael. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.
Mrs. Timms was a graduate of Barat College and taught third and sixth grade at St. Alexander School in the 1960s. She also volunteered for many years at the public library.

Herman Zeidler
Herman A. Zeidler, 88, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 8, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Zeidler is survived by his wife, Myrtle; children, James, Russell (Nancy) and Peggy Kilavos; stepdaughters, Janet (Larry) Watson and Pam (Dean) Marshall; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion; and brother, Robert Zeidler.
Mr. Zeidler grew up in Elmhurst and graduated from York High School in 1939. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and served in the Pacific. He participated in four campaigns: Bismark Archipelago, New Guinea, Southern Philippines (liberation) and Luzon.
Mr. Zeidler worked for Western Electric before and after the war. His father and mother opened a grocery store in Elmhurst in 1933, and he joined his father in 1949 at Mr. Z’s Grocery Store in Elmhurst. Mr. Z’s moved to 727 S. Main St., Lombard, in 1967, and then to 401 S. Main St. in 1976. He retired in 1985, after working countless hours at 401 S. Main St., where it remains today.
