Mary Baur


Mary J. Baur, 87, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Villa Park and Berkeley, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, in Phoenix.
Funeral services and interment were private.
Mrs. Baur is survived by her children, Janette (John) Novak, Marilyn Williams, Bill (Barbara) and Ted (Sharon); nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Frances Jansen and David (Rachel) Wood; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Baur was a caregiver to many during her life.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Dorothy Biliskis


Dorothy O. Biliskis, died Monday, Dec. 15, in Sarasota, Fla.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 19, at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Mrs. Biliskis is survived by her sons, Thomas and William (Lynne); two grandchildren; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Albert Biliskis.
Mrs. Biliskis was a lifelong resident of Villa Park and spent the winters in Sarasota.

David Brainer


David W. Brainer, 66, of Villa Park, died Thursday, Dec. 18, at Elmhurst Extended Care.
A visitation has been held, and interment was private.
Mr. Brainer is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughters, Stephanie (Mark) Chamerlik and Jennifer; one granddaughter; and brother, Donald (Joann) Brainer.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Christopher Colella


Seaman Christopher R. Colella, U.S. Navy, 20, of Lombard, died suddenly Sunday, Dec. 28.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, with prayers from the funeral home to St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment is at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Christopher is survived by his parents, Iggy and Sally; sisters, Nicole, Nina and Jamie; grandfather, Larry Colella; grandmother, Tina Burk; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anna Lea; and grandfather, John E. Burk.
Christopher was a lifelong resident of Lombard, and was a 2008 graduate of Willowbrook High School. He was a former player for the Lombard Firebirds soccer team and had served in the U.S. Navy for six months.

Raphael R. Cook


Raphael R. “Rae” Cook, 65, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Villa Park.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 29, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband, Warren; daughters, Laurie and Nicole; one granddaughter; siblings, Nancy (George) Streski, Anthony (Linda) Marchese and Peter Marchese; sister-in-law, Kathy Marchese; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs. Cook was a 38-year resident of Villa Park. She had worked as a hair stylist and was a good friend to her customers for many years.

Allen Griffin


Allen F. Griffin, 77, of Lombard, died Sunday, Dec. 28, in Lombard.
Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 31, at the Maple Street Chapel, Main and Maple streets, Lombard.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his sons, James and Richard (Marsha); one grandson; brothers, Robert (Joan) and Syd; and brother-in-law, Franklin (Jacqueline). He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha H.
Mr. Griffin was a lifelong resident of Lombard and was a graduate of Glenbard High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War, and received an engineering degree in Chicago. He had retired from Miller Fluid Power Co. in Bensenville in 1994 after 35 years. He was a member of First Church of Lombard.
Memorials to First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main St., Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.

Jon Groves


Jon H. Groves, 74, of Lombard, formerly of Oak Park, died Saturday, Dec. 20.
Funeral services were private at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private at Crystal Lake Union Cemetery.
Mr. Groves is survived by his brother, David (Patricia) of Lombard; nephews, Keith and Glenn (Alena); and niece, Linda.
Mr. Groves was a resident of Lombard for eight years, and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Arlington Heights after 30 years. He was an avid fan of thoroughbred horse racing, with an extensive collection of artwork and memorabilia from the sport.

Mildred Hager


Mildred E. Hager, nee Stortz, 87, of Wheaton, formerly of Lombard, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 29, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Hager is survived by her son, Chuck L. (Diane); son-in-law, Richard Zimmerman; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H.; and daughter, Doris Zimmerman.
Mrs. Hager was a resident of Lombard for 55 years. She grew up on the South Side of Chicago and graduated from Everett High School in Chicago. She and her husband founded the C. H. Hager Excavating Co. in Lombard and West Chicago, where she worked and retired in 1998.
Mrs. Hager was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, was an avid White Sox fan and was a member of a bunco club in Wheaton.

Bruce Harmon


Bruce Harmon, 53, of Lombard, died Monday, Dec. 29, in Lombard.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 1, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Harmon is survived by his mother, Margaret “Marge,” of Lombard; son, Bruce (Michelle); two grandchildren; brother, Bill; brother-in-law, Mike Allred; and four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale; and sister, Brenda Allred.
Mr. Harmon was a resident of the Lombard, Villa Park, Carol Stream and Glendale Heights area his entire life. He had attended Willowbrook High School and had worked for A-1 Limousine Service before becoming disabled. He spent a lot of time in Ladysmith, Wis., on Lake Flambeau, especially since his illness. He was an avid fisherman and card player.
Memorials to the family would be appreciated.

Patricia Jablonsky


Patricia Jean Jablonsky, nee Mason, 85, of Villa Park, died Saturday, Dec. 27, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 31, with prayers from Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Jablonsky is survived by her husband, Anthony J.; children, Susan, Mary and Warren (Colleen); three grandchildren; brother, Warren (Margery) Mason; brother-in-law, Joseph Jablonsky; sister-in-law, Virginia Jablonsky; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and feline friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Shirley Thams and Eric (Betty).
Mrs. Jablonsky was a resident of Villa Park since 1960. She had been active with Brownies, Little League and hockey when her children were young. She served on the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Guild for many years.
Mrs. Jablonsky was active with her husband in the affairs of the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business, particularly with the Eta Chapter at DePaul University’s College of Commerce. One of Delta Mu Delta’s two highest awards is named “The Pat and Tony Jablonsky Award.” She was known as a beautiful, kind and thoughtful lady who was loved by all.
Memorials to the Delta Mu Delta Honor Society or any other educational organization of choice would be appreciated.

Geraldine Miller


Geraldine J. Miller, 87, of Villa Park, died Friday, Dec. 26, at Lexington of Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, with the Rev. Robert Rogers officiating. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller is survived by many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; and parents, Arthur and Regina Hintz.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Louise Morford


Louise M. Morford, 84, formerly of Elmhurst, died Thursday, Dec. 18.
Funeral services were private and interment was at Liberty Cemetery in Columbus, Ind.
Mrs. Morford is survived by her children, Mary Reindl, Denise (Rich) DuBay, Gail (Bill) VanDeman, Boyd (Darlene), James Jr. (Linda) and Barbara; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and sister, June Hoagland. She was preceded in death by her husband, James.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Robert O’Kane


Robert G. O’Kane, 81, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Lexington Healthcare Center in Lombard.
A memorial Mass was held Saturday, Dec. 27, at Christ the King Church in Lombard. Interment was private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Mr. O’Kane is survived by his wife, Bertha “Boots”; daughters, Patricia Thompson, Kathleen (Keith) Votava, Mary McShane, Maureen (William) Prange of Lombard and Meg (Michael) Zappa; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Genevieve Carbray. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bruce Thompson.
Mr. O’Kane was a resident of Lombard since 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II, and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #265. He retired in 1990 after seven years as manager of the health and welfare department for his union. He was a member of the Wheaton VFW Post #2164.

Phyllis Ostick


Phyllis Ann Ostick, 77, of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Villa Park, died Sunday, Dec. 21, in Glen Ellyn.
A visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Ostick is survived by her husband, Lloyd; children, Holly (RonMee) McCluskey, Pamela (Glenn) Burmeister and Wesley (Lori Heckman); seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, James (Anna May) Bequeaith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to a favorite charity would be appreciated.

Eileen Pederson


Eileen T. Pederson, nee Dowling, 84, of Lombard, died Saturday, Dec. 27, in Lombard.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. John Guiney officiating. Interment was private.
Mrs. Pederson is survived by her children, Bob (Nancy) and Barbara (Gerry) Gutschall; and siblings, Kay (the late Harold) Race and Peggy (the late Herman) Klingner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. “Pete”; and sister, Mary (the late Howard) Valkenaar.
Mrs. Pederson was the former president of Villa Park Savings and Loan.
Memorials to the National Parkinson Foundation Inc., 1501 N.W. 9th Ave., Miami, FL 33136-1494, would be appreciated.

John Speidel


John R. Speidel, 77, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, in Villa Park.
Funeral services have been held and interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Speidel is survived by his children, Robert (Mary), Ronald, Ricky (Sherrie Tills), Rory (Elaine) and Joy (Rick Pasierbowicz) Speidel; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Clyde) Penn, Betty (the late Don) Collberg and Wanda (the late Emil) Norton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A.; and sisters, Edith (Harold) Duch and Donna Hebert.
