Nancy R. Behenna

Nancy R. Behenna, nee Plambeck, 69, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, in Villa Park.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park, with the Rev. Robert Rogers officiating. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.
Mrs. Behenna is survived by her husband, Robert C.; children, Donna (Randy) Grote, Robert K. and Debra (John) Serna; six grandchildren; sister, Marlene (Will) Behrens; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. Behenna was a homemaker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society or Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, IL 60181, would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Eleanor Cullum


Eleanor B. Cullum, 93, formerly of Villa Park, died Saturday, Oct. 11, at Beacon Hill in Lombard.
Funeral services will be held today, Oct. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park, with the Rev. Robert Rogers officiating. Interment is at Fairmont Willow Hills.
Mrs. Cullum is survived by her children, Pamela (Gary) Stack and David B. (Gabriele); six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Pearl Lemke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis B.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

Josephine Fernbach


Josephine G. Fernbach, 94, of Villa Park, died Monday, Oct. 6, at Joliet Hospice.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 10, at St. Alexander Church gathering space in Villa Park. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Mrs. Fernbach is survived by her children, Dr. Ronald (Sharon), Lenore Rasmussen and Kathleen Fernbach (Bruce) Larson; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, John Aurelio and Anne Hane. She was preceded in death by her husband, John N.
Mrs. Fernbach was retired after working as a bookkeeper.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431, would be appreciated.

Marvin Giersch


Marvin A. Gierszewski Giersch, 79, of Richland Center, Wis., formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, in Wisconsin.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 12, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Private entombment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Mr. Giersch is survived by his children, Bruce (Tami), Barry (Teri) of Lombard and Carla (Kevin) Tonk; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, Rita Giersch. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy A.; daughter, Paula Horstman Fritz; and brother, Ken.
Mr. Giersch was a resident of Richland Center for 19 years and was formerly of Lombard from 1978-89. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served during World War II in China with the First Battalion, First Regiment, First Division, Charlie Company. He retired after 30 years as an engineer for Griffin Wheel Co. in Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, or other veterans groups, would be appreciated.

Anthony Graef


Anthony R. “Bob” Graef, 89, of Lombard, died Saturday, Oct. 11, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 17, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, from the funeral home to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment is at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
Mr. Graef is survived by his children, Jeffrey, Barbara (Greg) McGough and Diana (Charles) Hallcox of Lombard; four grandchildren; sister, Catherine (Charles) Krema; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte A.; grandson, Richard; and sister, Etta (Francis) Krema.
Mr. Graef was a resident of Lombard for 51 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II, and was retired after 42 years with the Chicago Tribune.

Theresa Grassie


Theresa Grassie, nee Quagliato, 91, of Lombard, died Monday, Oct. 6, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 8, from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. James Nowak officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Grassie is survived by her children, Ronald (Michael Davis) and Debbie Rohde; three grandchildren; siblings, Lucille Odell, Carmella and Robert Quagliato; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis.
Mrs. Grassie had worked as a break reliever at Costco.

Lera Jans


Lera Elizabeth “Betty” Jans, nee Vaughn, 97, of Lombard, formerly of Villa Park, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Lexington of Bloomingdale in Bloomingdale.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 10, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park. Interment was at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Jans is survived by her son, Ronald V. (Carol A.) of Lombard; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Helen E. Rowley; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur C.; and brother-in-law, Norman R. Rowley.

Joyce Krempasky


Joyce G. Krempasky, nee Raher, 86, formerly of Villa Park, died Sunday, Oct. 12, in Indiana.
Visitation will be today, Oct. 15, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment is at Fairview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Krempasky is survived by her sons, Bob (Stephanie) and Ron (Marita); 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille (the late Clarence) Burkhard; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; daughter, Kathy (Mike) Smith; and sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Smith.
Mrs. Krempasky was a homemaker.

Dorothy Mullany


Funeral services for Dorothy Irene Mullany, 97, were private.
Mrs. Mullany is survived by her children, James (Elaine), Shanon (Gary) Jungles, Maureen (James) Pagonis, Gail (Kenneth) Smith and Brian; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E.
Mrs. Mullany was a former treasurer for the Village of Lombard.
Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Illinois.

Luella Rangus


Luella J. Rangus, nee Peterson, 81, formerly of Lombard, died Saturday, Oct. 4, at Oak Crest Assisted Living in Elgin.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Oakridge Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Rangus is survived by her son, Scott (Gayle); one grandson; and brother, Sam Peterson of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest C.; and son, Keith R.
Mrs. Rangus was born in Oak Park and was a graduate of Steinmetz High School. She was an artist and a graduate of the Chicago Art Institute.
Mrs. Rangus was a resident of Lombard from 1954 until retiring to Arizona in 1991. She had been a resident of Elgin the past eight years, and was a member of the DuPage Art League.

Gary Rogers


Gary L. Rogers, 62, of Villa Park, died Monday, Oct. 13, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Visitation will by Thursday, Oct. 16, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Funeral services and interment are private.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Mary R.; children, Jimmi, Jaffray and David, one grandchild; and siblings, Junior Wescott, Phyllis and Kathy (Bill) Keable.
Mr. Rogers was a resident of Villa Park for 10 years, and was an avid motorcycle rider who rode in many charity fundraising events.

Helen Schelli


Helen Louise Schelli, nee Timpson, 80, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 10, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, with the Rev. Danita Anderson of St. Thomas Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Schelli is survived by her children, Donna (Gregory) Peters, Elizabeth (Steven) Socall and Anne (Roger) Huff; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley (Frank) Qualtier; and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; and sister, Mildred (Anthony) Caruso.
Mrs. Schelli was retired after working as a corporate secretary for educational fundraising, and was a member of Barbershop Harmony Choir.
